Update!! We have gone back a couple times since and have been very happy and full. Perhaps the first time was just an off day.

I liked the atmosphere. Food was really good and prices were great. I had prime rib and added salad. Will go back. Service was excellent.

What do you do when they have such a good reputation but you're tastebuds are not satisfied with the food? The ambience was great, country music, PBR on the TV stations calf roping, definitely it has an Oakdale rodeo feel to it. I will start out with the salad bar (and this is just me). The place is definitely worth eating at, but I'm trying to be as honest as possible, I can eat sliced tomatoes, but I can't have diced tomatoes. I can eat sliced cucumbers, but I cannot stand diced cucumbers and that's what they had in the salad bar, also there were no croutons, raisins, or sunflower seeds to top off the salad. It's OK it's not the end of the world, they had the other things I like. I had onion rings with my tri-tip meal instead of French fries. I don't know what it was but everything just tasted funny (like I said it's just me), I've had tri-tip in Valencia, this place called The Rattler and it's full of flavor. This had no flavor also not hot. I had to add salt and pepper and the barbecue sauce, (once again just me) had a weird ketchup taste. I don't know, everything I ate did not appeal to my taste buds at all but like I said, that's just me. The soup was piping hot. I went back to get some dessert from the salad, bar, some cottage cheese, and there again, diced pear with a few diced peaches, (and you already know how I feel about diced food), the macaroni tasted weird too. They had that red Jell-O with the whop cream in it? and that tasted weird. It didn't taste like cherry Jell-O. I'm not blaming the establishment. I'm blaming my taste buds but it was a little different. Anyways I probably won't go there again, but then again, that's just me. The waitress was very friendly. I don't know if they charged me enough. If they didn't I don't pay attention all I know it was pretty inexpensive

I gotta say this is the worst cut of steak I’ve ever had at a restaurant or maybe just it was me that they served wrong because they’re so many good reviews here. I asked for a prime rib just last night, and they brought out the most driest piece of meat I’ve ever had in my life. Oh God I could not even bear eating it was definitely sitting out for a while and the waitress was so damn mean, it was crazy. buy the meat but don’t eat at the restaurant. Cherry on top, I got a pound of prime but I was charged/paid for a 20 ounce man Restaurant employees lack honor.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a place called "House of Beef". The name definitely makes the mind wonder. Upon entering I was shocked to learn that they have a deli. Pleasantly shocked. Upon being seated the shock continued. In an age of inflation everything was reasonably priced. In addition to the meal I opted for a side salad from the salad bar...it's all you can eat? From the prices to the deli to the salad bar I felt like I was in a time warp or some alternate reality. Did I mention the service was great? I think 3 different people checked on us, that's 2 additional people other than our server. Again-alternate reality? Places like this don't exist anymore. This place is definitely a must. I almost don't want to rave about it, keep it a secret out of fear of its popularity growing and never being able to get in - but they deserve their accolades. We are in a period of hyper inflation and some restaurants believe they can do the bare minimum while still charging high. Great food. Great service. Will definitely be returning and bringing friends.

Stopped in today and had the tri-tip sandwich with au jus. It was amazing. Huge serving, and the meat melted in my mouth. The smoky flavor of the tri-tip was delicious. It was well worth the price. Service was nice, and the restaurant dining area and lounge was tidy. I enjoyed my experience

Great service and food! Relaxed welcoming atmosphere, as well. Beware, their garlic bread is highly addictive.

They specialize in beef and they do it right perfectly cooked as ordered. The sides were fairly mediocre and the service not great. Staff seemed stressed and unhappy. Hard to tell. I think this is a local favorite and for some this is their tried and true so I don't want to be too hard on a local favorite that probably isn't my style but some people love it here.

What a wonderful dinner! Had not tried House of Beef before, and it did not disappoint! Took our friend for his 50th birthday. Wow were they busy! Glad I made a reservation! The service was wonderful!!! I enjoyed the shrimp as my appetizer, delicious! The guys had steaks, they were huge and cooked to perfection! I ordered the salmon, perfectly cooked and the sauce was so delicious!! We will be back!
