This place is ridiculous! It doesn't follow its own store hours! We burned gas to only arrive at this place being closed when store hours stated that they were open! I won't be back here!! What a horrible impression for newcomers!

This place was so cravable and served delicious lobster buns when it was open. What happened? Why is it always closed? First they added a sign for Cluck Chicken and then they started not opening at all a few months ago. I hope it reopens soon so I can get my lobster bun fix.

Was it a good sandwich? Yes. Was it amazing and worth the price? Eh. I felt the the roll had a decent amount of lobster (but for the price, I expected more). The butter was good but what really didn't impress me was the bread. It's delicious and pillow like soft but it's wayyyy to sweet and over powers the lobster. When I eat a lobster roll, I want the lobster to be the star and I felt like I was eating dessert because everything was too sweet If they were to change that bread for the roll (use the sweet bread for a dessert or app bread), I'd definitely try it again.

This is the large size of a togo clam chowder ( that’s a tangerine on the left ) and it was only half full. Ordered for dinner with a few other things and had to make a frozen pizza after anyways. Not worth the money. Let me guess though, the owner is gonna respond and say how they will work on it. Should’ve read all the negative reviews first

They’re robbing people out of their money and appetite. This place is disgusting, how are they still in business?? My favorite seafood restaurant was closed, so Between the Bun was our plan B… this should be more of a plan XYZ! The last place you should eat if everything else fails lol. The pictures on the website lure you in, making you think you’ll get a decent lobster roll meal. The bun is a sweet Hawaiian roll, the waffle fries are from the frozen food section in the grocery store, and you can find the Mac and cheese in aisle 13 called Kraft macaroni and cheese lol. $60 for THE MAIN EVENT and 4 sides… more like $60 for a disappointment and stomach ache.

Ordered on doordash, pretty disappointed with everything I had :( Crab sandwich - like a couple of reviews have said, the bread is way too sweet and soft, overpowers any of the crab flavors. On a positive note, they do load up on the crab. Fried okra - breading was too thick, wasn't very crispy but might be due to delivery time Maryland crab chowder - this was my bad, I wanted clam chowder but ordered this on accident , either way, it was also too sweet with corn in it which made it unpleasant, not much crab in it either. Don't think I'll be ordering from here again.

I got the lobster bisque and the beans. The lobster bisque was way too salty and a gloppy mess. I would never get it again. The beans were sweet and had no other taste. Maybe the sandwiches are better. I probably won't go back to find out.

I'm wasn't impressed by the taste but, I was shocked at the price. You have to add double meat to feel like you aren't being cheated by quality over quantity. Expensive to go eatery although I've ventured in more than 3x. I always get the crab sandwich as I am not a lobster eater. I know throw me in the Ocean over this dismay lobster is just overrated and underwhelming in my opinion. However, I did enjoy the lobster bisque with the oyster crackers. But, I will have to add just like they add too much heavy cream and not enough lobster into the bisque. I learned to add a double serving of lobster to that food option as well. For two people to be aesthetically pleased and full expect to spend $50 plus although, that may just be my family eating habit

Second time coming here and still just regular not as good as it seems and Im pretty sure this is can crab meat mixed in... then had the nerve to charge $3.50 for a can soda smh

I feel like their bread overpowers the taste of the actual meat. I tried all three today. Shrimp crab and lobster. Kinda expensive too.

Excellent flavor on seafood sandwiches!

Pros: - Since they have "bun" in their name I had high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. Soft and reminiscent of Hawaiian King rolls. - Price to portion ratio reasonable - Good service Cons: - Not a big deal, but their mayo is on the side, separate from the roll, and it comes in a packet. - It's Berkeley so - street parking lol. Although, I order ahead and just park in the nearby parking lots since I don't take long. Final Verdict: 3.5 stars Between the Bun is a good, affordable alternative to my favorite Bay Area lobster roll. Out of respect for BTB I won't drop the name of the other place. I'll definitely eat here again and I recommend going here.

Not bad... But their bread is so sweet it overpowers the taste of the actual meat.i think their chowder is from a can. It's pretty pricey as well. I think I liked the shrimp roll the best.

We passed this place on our way to somewhere else and couldn't help but stop for a lobster and crab roll. At the time of this post, the lobster roll was $19 and the crab roll was $14. Given the location, I suspected the amount of lobster and crab was going to be pretty sparse -- and I was right. When I saw both rolls, I scoffed. "This was $19 / $14??" I tried the lobster roll first. It looked pretty basic. Just a soft bun and lobster. Maybe it was because I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be delicious. I've driven all the way to Burlingame for a lobster and crab roll at the New England Lobster Market and I gotta say, I liked the ones at Between the Bun better. First off, the lobster roll in Burlingame was about $25. It did have more lobster so in retrospect, $19 for less lobster seems reasonable. The lobster at both places was fabulous. But the roll itself stands out more at Between the Bun. If there was butter present, I didn't taste it, which I'm glad for because I hate butter on my sandwiches. The bun had a mildly sweet flavor. I normally hate sweet buns on my sandwiches too but I liked it here. I didn't think I'd be too impressed with the crab roll either. Unlike the lobster, which came in whole chunks, the crab was shredded. And there was even less of it than the lobster. My first bite wasn't stellar but as I ate more of the sandwich, it grew on me until I was loving it. I did taste a bit of butter on this one but it was just the right amount. (Note: I did add mayo to both sandwiches.) My husband wasn't as taken with the sandwiches as I was but this is my review. Would I order either again? Yes to both. We also got a free chocolate chip cookie, which was also very good.

I'm not really sure what this is but I do know my entire seasoning rack at home had to be assaulted to bring out any flavor. The waffle fries were bland as bland comes, and after throwing em in my broiler I prayed it would be enough heat to bring a fruitful crisp or put them out of their misery and end them for good.Same with the Mac n cheese, that poor Mac no doubt had dreams of flying as high as its Kraft and Panera forefathers and become a household name. Instead, like any small pawn cast aside while the big guy gets all the credit, my excellent habanero crispies from Trader Joe's (you know the ones) brought this dish from a 2 to a strong 4.By the time they got to the lobster roll I think they said "you know what? We can do better, let's give her that crunch she's been lookin for" and then threw in some lobster shell for me to bite into. Twice. Jokes on them, I'm already regularly overpaying for dental care! Nonetheless, they softened the blow with a very sweet bun, which I was not expecting and did not make it better.Sigh.
