My experience was great with this restaurant! The decorations were nice and felt roomy and pleasant. It felt like Japan. The waiters were very nice and told us about how to cook the food. The meat was very nicely seasoned and the sauces were great. The ramen noodles and soup went good together and the broth was very rich. One thing I do have to say is that the meat inside the tonkotsu ramen was bland and was very tough. This place was very nice.

The food came out pretty fast and it's kinda annoying to cook it yourself but it's also kinda fun. The bathroom was very clean ( unlike other restaurants this was very clean) the restaurant wasn't very nicely decorated but I really don't care so it still won't apply to my review. However I really enjoyed the food as the meat is well-marinated and seasoned. The veggies were fresh and I highly recommend the spinach and corn. Going during happy hour makes it a decent value, otherwise it can get expensive unless you go all you can eat. Service was good, although sometimes they can get busy and it's harder to get drink refills. Overall I really recommend coming here.

We came for lunch and the serving size was pretty big. Teppanyaki cook your own. Son had a double meat serving. I had fried rice and friend had ramen. All tasted well and served up warm and fresh. I imagine it would be fun to come here with a bigger group for dinner. Service was friendly and helped explain everything for us.

This is my go to spot before/after every time my family flies out of OAK or is picking someone up from there. My kids love the gyoza, chicken karage, and bibimbap. I love all the meats! I signed up for the Gyu Kaku rewards program and always get a free item whether it’s an order of smores or meat, or the best one is 25% off up to $25. For three adults and two kids, we can have a dinner with appetizers, salad, and everyone wishing they wore elastic waistband pants for around $130. Super great value considering the quality of the food and meats! The service is always speedy and the staff are very nice. We park in the lot across the street for about $5-10 flat and have never felt unsafe in the area (even with my 9 and 5 year old in tow). Reservations are always easy and many walk in without them and are seated promptly. Great job Oakland Gyu Kaku!

Was working nearby the area that day, so I went there for a quick lunch. Overall, it was a good to go lunch place in Oakland. I will definitely come again if I am not in rush~ Service : Very polite, friendly waiter. He explained everything on the menu and all the grill time in a good manner. Cleanness: Terrible, visibly I can see the black stain & grill dirts all over the table and sofa. Food : The garlic fried rice is excellent. The meats are better than expected. Must try the toro beef!

Apparently you can’t do AYCE if you have more than 6 or 7 people. Restaurant “rules” wasn’t clear when we made the booking. Otherwise service was friendly. Make sure you clarify before going as a big group.

This review is overdue. I meant to complete it sooner. The staff here was beyond exceptional greeting everyone with a smile. I've been to other locations and nothing compares to the service at the Oakland location on 8th. The gentleman who was hosting and seating tables continued to check in with us and make sure everything was meeting our expectations. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and had a great attitude. Of course the food was delicious per usual but what really left a lasting impression was the customer service that staff provided 10 out of 10.

Gyu-Kaku is a solid spot for bbq that has a huge variety of things to try. First thing first - I'm a crab rangoon connoisseur.. unfortunately it wasn't great here since the sauce was a pale sweet and sour and the outside was too crispy/almost burnt. Though the garlic rice and noodles were pretty good and all the meats we got were tender. Make a rsvp if you don't want to wait for dinner!
