As someone who grew up here and a business owner as well I love the love they give out here and the food. I'll always support good people and good food. I wish ya nothing but the best.

This is in a busy part of Oakland so traffic and parking is a little hard, but there's always someone leaving so if you don't mind walking a bit, there are parking around. It's a nice walk with a lot to see. It was pretty empty on a Wednesday night so we were seated right away. There are 3 different QR codes to scan to look at the menu: lunch special, All you can eat, or a la cart. We opted for the a la cart menu this time around. Corncheese: I really enjoyed it. It's cheese. It's corn, you can't go wrong. I love the hint of sweetness you get. It was a small dish. Between 3 of us, we all had about 2 spoonfuls before it was done. Gyoza/potstickers/pan fried dumplings: these were ok. We've had better in other places, they were not as crispy as we had hoped. Texture was more steamed than pan fried. Garlic Bossam: I'm not sure what I was expecting from this dish but to me it was pretty good. It feeds 2-3 people. My friend didn't like it as much as a regular bossam. The garlic was a minced sauce that sat on top but it was sweet and not at all garlicky. We had to ask for cloves of garlic on the side that we thought it came with along with lettuce leaves to eat it with. Budae Stew: we all agreed on getting this and it's also a big dish that serves 2-3. Between the 3 of us, we still had leftovers to take home. It was a delicious soup with ramen noodles, spam, hotdogs and a bunch of tofu, different sorts of mushrooms, onions, and a slice of cheese on top. One of the better Budae's that I've had, it was a really comforting dish on a cold night. I recommend coming here if you like Korean food. They have a lot of options from all their menus and the dishes are good portion sizes. There are plenty to do around the area after or before dinner but be prepared to look for parking on side streets. It gets pretty busy.

Oakland doesn't have a lot (or any ) hot pot restaurants so Hancook really makes up for it. We had shabu shabu for dinner with seafood pancake and the fried chicken on the side. Everything was delicious and the service was attentive. They always checked in and made sure everything was good. They also had a large pitcher of water for us at the table which I think is a nice touch so we don't have to keep asking for refills . We will definitely be back and make this one of our go to spots!

They've got this super spicy kimchi broth that's really flavorful. And their meats are so tasty! Their corn cheese is so nice and It's sweet, it's cheesy, and it's just plain amazing. The food never fails, and the staff there are super nice. So, if you want some epic hotpot and great service, hit up Hancook.

Good: vegetable bar, meats, friendly service Bad: men's bathroom still giving me nightmares, I felt sick the rest of my time there after that. DON'T get the clams they have rocks in them, bit into a rock and could have chipped my teeth or worse. Will never be returning here. hope this helps

My bf and I came here wanting to do hot pot, and it was amazing! It did take a while to get seated, I would say we waited about 45 mins, but the host/server kept checking in on us while we waited to give us updates which I appreciated. We ended up doing the hancook special which comes with 2 broths, 1 meat, and 2 sides. I think it's the perfect amount of food for 2 people. Our favorite broth was definitely the spicy miso, which had a bit of a kick but was delicious. The chicken garlic was good too but nothing could compare to how great the spicy miso was! The wagyu shoulder was delicious and tender and they gave us a ton of it. We also ordered the wings, which take about 15 minutes to come out because they cook them fresh to order. We went for hot and sweet and soy garlic. The hot and sweet were delicious, but stayed super hot for a while because of the sticky sauce. The staff were super attentive and nice and made sure our broth never emptied. The ambience is also quite nice. It's a darker room, but even with all of the other people in there with us, it was super easy to talk. I'd definitely go back again!

Very bad service. Nobody is standing at the front desk to accommodate people who just walk in. Waitress is rude and ignores customers as if they are invisible.

Hancook is a Korea restaurant in Oakland's 'Koreatown' Temescal neighborhood. They have an a la carte menu as well as all you can eat Korean Hot Pot and BBQ. 4.2 rating on Yelp, this restaurant has been on our hit list for a while. We came for a la care takeout. The menu is very extensive with a wide range of the usual Korean options along with some fancy dishes like Hancock Hansang, Shabu Shabu, Braised Beef short rib, Bossam. We ordered via Doordash and the food came on time. The food here is solid as is much of the Korean restaurants nearby. Variety is also wide ranging. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering. Food Review Bibimbab ($20.95 Beef) Rice topped with freshly seasoned vegetables, fried egg is an above average version with lots of meat and toppings. 8/10 Kalbi ($42.95) is served with ssam is expensive but includes amble quantity and some tender and flavorful meat. Banchan is above average too. 8.5/10 Spicy K-DDUK rice cakes ($19.95) with fish cake, sausage, egg & green onion look super spicy but are not. A great dish for lovers of it. 8.5/10 Japchae ($16.95) Stir fried sweet potato glass noodles with beef (optional) and vegetables in bulgogi style sauce was just okay. Noodles were a bit on the tougher side. 7.5/10 Overall - Very Good Food - Very Good Decor - Very Good Service - Good Value - Good Would we come back - Yes

To put it simply, Hancock exceeded my expectations. I love hotpot, it's probably one of my favorite foods. My mom was in town for the night and I was wanting to try this spot out, so we went! Upon walking in, the restaurant isn't too big, and it reminds you of your usual hotpot location. Bustling tables, so much steam, a fun time that many enjoy. We sat and decided to get the premium hot pot, which meant that we could order every item from the menu (excludes extras like whole orders of Korean fried chicken, etc). This meant that the meats we could choose from included WAGYU, tenderloin, crab, a wide variety of cuts and specialties. We got the spicy miso and tonkatsu broth to cook our items in. The thing we both liked about this location is that only the vegetables and sauce options were out for people to freely grab. At other places we have been, seafood and eggs have been out for people to grab as well, but that was a sanitary concern to us. It was nice that we had to ask for each order of seafood, made us more comfortable to actually eat it. Now for what people really want: THE TASTE! Overall, the tastes of everything we ordered were amazing. People say that eating wagyu at hotpot defeats its whole purpose because you cook it and lose the fat, but the tenderness of this mean does not compare to any we have had. The broths were amazing, very flavorful and made everything we cooked better than we could expect. The veggies were fresh and there were many sauce options that you could use to make your perfect portion. My mom also ordered a small plate of garlic soy Korean fried chicken, gyoza, and japchae, which all tasted great as well!! We ate here for about 1.5 hours and left super stuffed. The pricing is reasonable for what you get, especially if you go for the premium! There's also a $10 (I believe that's the price) all you can drink option as well. We don't get hate though... overall, definitely check this place out, whether it's for a date, a huge group of friends, or whatever is in between :)

Perfect hot pot spot! Always have an amazing time!Vegetarian options: Just don’t order the meat and you should be good! The tofu is amazing! I also like the corn cheese and they do also offer veggie dumplings I think!

Not my first hotpot experience but my first non-individual hotpot experience! The server was so kind and patient and helpful with helping select our options and sharing recommendations to us. It was a fun evening with the girls while enjoying delicious hot food to our taste. The food was super fresh and it was a fun laid back activity to do with friends you enjoy chatting with. We did the all you can eat and it was 100% worth it! I got udon noodles but the ramen looked really good too! I was too full to try the friend chicken but it's at the top of my list for next time!

Nah. Forget about this place. It's our first time to come here and also our last time. I just wish we just went somewhere else. They take SO LONG to serve our orders, WE ARE JUST party of 2 and have are toddler with us , we literally waiting on our table 20 minutes for the meats we ordered. We paid $95 and I'm telling you, ITS NOT WORTH IT! Feels like we just wasted out money there. Will not recommend this. And also ordered ordered their bbq that is included on the AYCE menu, it's already cooked but they are using their cheap fatty brisket for all of it. My experience here is just really bad. Won't ever come back here. EXPENSIVE AND CHEAP MEAT , NOT GOOD SERVICE.
