Title: Disappointing Experience at Kitchen Story OaklandMy recent visit to Kitchen Story Oakland left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an Asian server named Ed, who informed us that we needed to input our names into the tablet for seating. After waiting for approximately 35 minutes, we approached the staff to inform them that we were ready to be seated. To our surprise, we were told that we needed all four members of our party present to be seated at a table for four, despite being only three at the time. Despite explaining that my sister was parking the car and that my pregnant wife and elderly mother needed to sit due to health concerns, we were rudely told to wait for the fourth person.Once my sister arrived, we waited an additional 35 minutes to be attended to. My wife, who was feeling lightheaded due to her pregnancy, asked for a soda, only to be told to wait. The service was incredibly poor, and to add insult to injury, we discovered that a 20% service charge was automatically included in the bill, regardless of the quality of service received.Overall, my experience at Kitchen Story Oakland was highly disappointing. The lack of consideration for guests' needs and the poor service overshadowed any positive aspects of the meal. I Honestly, I only went to that place because my wife had invited me and had spoken highly of that restaurant. The truth is, I wouldn't go back even if they paid me. I would not recommend this restaurant to others based on my experience.

Great atmosphere, great food. Will say bottomless mimosas are only for 1 hour though. Definitely worth the price though especially if you have a larger

Attentive staff, cute atmosphere, outdoor covered seating, and absolutely delicious food. I’m extremely picky about any food that leans fusion, but Kitchen Story totally nails it. Bravo!

My niece told me about this place. I came two days in a row because the food was sooooooo good. My first time here I orderd the Jjapaguri, omg the taste sensation was amazing. The noodles, fried egg, and millionaire bacon made it all come together. The coconut cream latte brought the whole experience together. My second day at Kitchen Story I ordered the Tornado Galbi Omurice and the iced Cinnamon latte, the best decision. It was delicious. The servers gave me the recommendations for both dishes so I am grateful for the advice. The only thing that is hard for me is the no room and you are so close to other people and hear evey conversation. However, I am just a private person and I like my space. Every one does not feel like that.

First time here, ordered Blackstone benedict. Potatos are crunchy and delicious, the whole plate was to die for. Great service and food. Absolutely recommended.

Their brunch menu was incredible and we really enjoyed our food. I made us a 2pm reservation online not knowing that the restaurant closes at 2:30. The hostess seemed hesitant to seat us and we were hastily rushed through our meal so they could complete closing.I’m not sure why 2pm reservations are offered if they close 30 minutes later, and if I had known this then I definitely would have reserved an earlier time so we could have peacefully enjoyed our meal.

The food is consistent and good. The service was not great at my last visit. I went with my son and got a table right away but they gave us the worst table by the stairway with a lot of traffic at close range despite being a ton of open seating for 2 people elsewhere. When I asked to move, the server replied "fine but you have to move everything." The hostess came by and tried to put us at another bad location but I stated my preference and they allowed us to sit at one of the normal seats. Then it too another 20 min for a server to take our order. The food came quickly which was nice, but when it was time to pay the bill we waited another 25 min after we were done eating until I just went up to the server to pay. My brother had a similar experience when he was with his kids and they ended up leaving after waiting too long for the server. Not sure if it was due to having children but it seemed like we were not welcomed there.

I’m visiting from out of town and randomly selected this restaurant based upon the interesting menu that had traditional and non-traditional choices. I ordered the Jjapaguri and my friend ordered Blackstone. The food was perfectly cooked and the textures and flavors were amazing. The portions were more than generous. Also we had coffee and cocktails and they were very flavorful. I would absolutely return here and order something new on the menu because everything that came from the kitchen looked incredible.

I had a better experience this time around. I met up with friends for an 11:30 reservation and we were seated immediately despite the fact that it was crazy busy as always. We ordered right after the last of our friends arrived. Our drinks came first and I loved their take on the michelada. It was presented as a Bloody Mary with all the veggie fixins. I ate all the veggies on that skewer because it was saturated in the michelada. YUMMMY!We shared the chicken wings appetizer and when it arrived, we devoured it, so good, but I noticed that my chicken meat was a bit pink and I started to doubt the thorough cooking of it. I told our server and she stated that the chicken is marinated and it all looks pink. We just sat there like 'ummm.' So she canceled it from the receipt and took the chicken back. Damn too bad, because it had such a good flavor. I ordered the millionaire's bacon benedict and it was delicious!

Excellent and great multiple choices for breakfast/lunch! Very casual, energetic, setting and service was spot-on. Not overly attentive, as I like, but on time and cordial. Thank you!!!

Hit the brunch here! Try it at least once! Brunch with an asian twist and delish! Get there early on weekends cuz the wait can be long sometimes, but they are very accommodating.
