We got their #1 most liked dish on doordash- the 3 quesabirria tacos with consome. It arrived without consome which was pretty disappointing. Wasn't packaged too well either, one of the salsas had come open and spilled on everything. I do appreciate that they had options to swap out meats from the traditional beef option, I picked carnitas. Wish they had al pastor for this dish. The food was pretty mediocre but the missing consome & spilled salsa at delivery made me take 2 stars off.

Extremely greasy food, sticky tables, and flies are available here. The tacos sit in pools of oil and the quesabirria starts dripping grease when you pick it up. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant.Vegetarian options: Tacos without meat are availableDietary restrictions: Food can be customized, ask employees for more informationParking: Public transit is recommended, street parking is availableKid-friendliness: Would not recommend bringing a child or anybody hereWheelchair accessibility: Accessible

Typically, Oakland, Ca. is known for its awesome mexican food trucks and restaurants that are some of the best in the Bay Area, this particular restaurajt i found while beouwsimg froupoms and i thohgt i tru ot out and qas disappoinyed.Upon my arrival at the restaurant with little to no parking, only one other duo dining, and overall forst impression of cleanliness was disastrous. The food is overpriced, not cooked well and not as advertised in menus. To top it off they had a self ordering digiral tablet that didnt workOnce I received my steak fries and steak vurrito. I opened it before I left and noticed there was not any sourcream, guacamole, pico de gallo and the fries looked as if it had been sitting for too long as well as the steak. I had to request sourcream and sauce that i added. An overpriced, dry meal that had my stomach churning after the first bite. Not happy

Not a very welcoming attitude first of all, but not unpleasant either. We told him this was our first time there , and got our days mixed up. We wanted to try their $1 Tacos to see how they taste. But he didn't care. Our order which consisted of some Barbecue wings, 6, which didn't look very big or good for that matter, for the nineteen dollar price, and that was with tax. Two small Birria Tacos, with a small dipping sauce, and a small French fries, with some radishes and onions enclosed, but not very much. Sorry, I didn't think to take a photo because it took much longer than the five minutes we was originally told. Much longer. I was so disappointed by the time we got the food, I let my twelve year old Grandson eat it all himself. He said, it tasted real good when he got home and ate it, and he would go back. So that's why the three star for the food, just for him. Although the size of a full size man, what do he know! Our 5 minutes turned into almost 30 minutes. I sat in my car and watched several people, who smartly placed phones orders, come and pick up their food and leave, and watched what I assume was the cooks leave. I say that because they had the hair nets on, leaving the person who originally took my order, to now finish preparing our order. I assume he cooked it because, it took that long for our 5 minute order to be ready. They are located where Talk of the Town, the Best Mexican Food Restaurant EVER, was originally located. But they No Way compare to Talk of the Town, not even in their wildest dreams. I wish they would come back! There's NO Mexican Restaurant in Oakland who compare to Talk of the Town Periodt, in my estimation. The place looks clean, but there was no good food smells emanating from there at all. I was expecting to smell some good food, but nothing. Nothing we received looked like their published photos, was the disappointing part of the whole experience. Maybe I got there at the wrong time. It was completely empty in there. They have all the latest touch screen gadgets so you can order your food yourself. I personally will not be going back. But my grandson will most likely, with somebody else driving him. Everyone's taste buds are different, and maybe you'll be treated differently. Go to their website and see their food and place a phone order instead if dropping in which we did. Give it a try, I would like to hear someone else's experience.

The worst French fries I’ve ever had!!! I ordered the carne asada fries and paid $16 and didn’t get anything on it but cheese. No guacamole no sour cream, no pico de gallo. The carne asada was dry like leather. What a waste of money.I’m a chef and worked in the restaurant business for over 30 years and I don’t know how anyone could mess this up so bad.

It used to be good. Not anymore! I first started ordering here when the quesabirrias were just 2 something and I've ordered quesabirrias here a couple times as their prices went up. Tonight tho, I ordered again after a while not coming here. I ordered 2 quesabirrias which are now 5 something each. I was kinda surprised how high the prize for them went up but thought it's all good they always taste pretty good. No! wrong! The tortilla wasn't fried correctly or toasted however you want to call it. The tortilla was just soggy and no I didn't get them delivered I picked them up in person and when I came to pick them up they weren't even ready yet. Worker asked to wait 4 minutes more just to recieve them soggy. Not worth my money. Never giving these guys my money again. The 2 employees seemed like they didn't even care about their job. The lady in the front when I first came in and asked for my order had thrown 2 salsas containers on the table where they were preparing my order. She threw them as if she was preparing the food for animals. With no care. I didn't let it bother me until I seen my quesabirrias tacos. I also ordered a carne asada burrito with my order and it was cold because the quesabirrias weren't ready so my burrito got cold. They have a night club next door so I guess this place doesn't care about how they make their food anymore like before. They make the food like nothing maybe because they think only drunk or drugged people from the night club are the only ones going to try it and not going to care much from how gone they are. I wasn't a drunk customer so I knew exactly what I was feeling and tasting in my mouth. Sorry but I no longer recommend this place to anyone.

We have received PR blurbs from this place via text since pre-COVID. We liked what we saw and read, and really wanted to give this place a try. We love supporting local independent business, and were eager to order from here. Finally, just over a week ago, on Taco Tuesday, we went there. To begin with, we would give zero stars if we could; customer service alone was lame beyond words, and all we've heard (and now seen in the other low reviews above) is excuses from management. We ordered over $60 in food.First of all, we ordered chips, guacamole, and salsa--to the tune of nearly $12. Never received any of it.Next, we ordered a Big Boy Al Pastor Taco Box and a Shrimp Taco Box. We requested three salsas per Taco Box. Received none of the salsas for either box.For the Taco boxes above, we requested _flour_ tortillas. The tortillas they sent were _corn_ tortillas, and they sent the wrong number of tortillas for not one, but _both_ of the orders. It's counting, folks, is it really that hard? But what about the food we _did_ receive? On the Shrimp Taco Box, the shrimp was slimy, mealy and melted in our mouths (but not in a good way). The consistency was like it had been boiled for months. As for the Al Pastor Taco Box, the Al Pastor was not like any "authentic" Al Pastor I have _ever_ tasted. The pork was _completely_ inconsistent: equal parts tender, tough, gristly, and fatty. Beyond that, though, _all_ of the Al Pastor was salty to the point where any rich marinade flavor was drowned out, and even I, who admittedly likes the judicious use of salt, was overwhelmed. If I say it's salty (and God, it was!), it's saying something. As a matter of fact, we found _all_ the food we ordered (and actually received), was _heavily_ oversalted.Additionally, the rice, of _all_ things, was undercooked and crunchy. This is a staple ingredient in Mexican cooking; how (and _why_) can you get this wrong? We called the restaurant, and told them about the items missing from our order. They said, "We're really busy; you need to go through DoorDash."But wait, there's more....Late this evening (nine days later), we received a telephone call from a "representative" of La Frontera, calling in reference to our order. We were asked our name (the "representative" could not manage to find our order in his records--shouldn't a _good_ customer service agent have that information already?), and asked us to (get this:) find our paper receipt from the order (good thing we kept it!), take pictures of it, and text it to him (talk about rubbing salt in an open wound...).We reiterated _everything_ that was wrong with our order; he first told us that La Frontera is understaffed, that they are having a hard time hiring new employees. While this might be a very real problem, if an establishment is willing to offer their products online, then they should be able to follow through. Additionally, the representative told us that the restaurant was only making 25% off their transactions on DoorDash--This is an outright lie, and only goes to exacerbate their chain of half-truths and excuses used to cover up their lack of food quality and customer service (damage control--see above). Then, the representative offered us a "order" of chips, guacamole, and salsa (that we already paid for), plus a "free" Taco Box, provided we _drive_ the 16 miles roundtrip to pick up the order. As you can see above, we live a distance from La Frontera (we had to even pay an Extended Service Range surcharge from DoorDash). All we received was disappointment and regret. We will _never_ be dining here again. We told the representative this on the phone. He didn't even try to make it right.

I normally come here any chance I get. But today was extremely off. First off we asked for Taco tray, the girl taking the order said they don't do Taco trays. 2nd issue. We ordered a horchata , she still gave soda. Third, we ordered quesabirria and consome , she didn't put the console in the bag. 4th issue the only thing in the street tacos are dried up meat and sliced radish . I spent good $65-$70. No longer will I be spending my money at Frontera . This is Hella disappointing.

East bay burrito #7First taste - 4/7Meat - 3/7Beans - 3/7Rice - 4/7Cheese - 4/7Tortilla - 4/7Overall 3/7 rounded down. The meat was pretty gristly and didn't have a great seasoning on top of that. The beans were on the soupy side and the tortilla was steamed. Would not recommend.

To be honest, this review is based on a DoorDash order I just had. My one and only time I've tried La Frontera. I had heard many positive things about them. I ordered an al pastor burrito and paid extra for the guacamole.First off, the delivery person was fast... got the order here quickly, but it was still barely warm. I had to reheat it. Second, it wasn't al pastor. I do believe it was pork... but NOT al pastor.Third... NO GUAC!WTF La Frontera? Cold stewed pork with no guacamole. Three strikes! On the positive side, it had good flavor. They can do better. Much better!Considering a lower rating... but the flavor brought it back up to a mediocre rating. La Frontera is Meh!

Heed the advice of other reviews! I wish I would’ve. Ordered through Doordash and fully half of my order was completely missing. What was there was cold and missing ingredients. A total ripoff.

I was here to pick up an order for Uber eats. I actually wish it was able to get some of the food because it smelled absolutely amazing in there. This restaurant goes under two different names, though I don't remember the second one. Either way, two different people were ordering from this restaurant that I had to do pickups from. It was a very funny moment for me since only one of the names are on the outside of the building and the other name is only on the inside of the building. Either way, the two employees that were there were absolutely lovely, and it was easy for me to park on the side though. I could definitely recognize that during a very busy day. You probably would want to Uber over or just order from Uber eats.
