What was once a cheery, bright breakfast favorite is now down in the heels: dingy, unkempt, sad.My breakfast was cheesy scramble with plastic bag-bread toast and greasy fried potatoes, but exceptional or interesting it wasn't. One can do better at a host of other diners and breakfast spots in Oakland.The service matches the rest of the vibe.I won't be back again.

After being told it’d be over an hour wait at Brenda’s with no reservation, my friend and I decided to walk cross the street and give this place a try, and let me tell ya, it’s definitely Brenda’s a run for their money. We were sat right away. I enjoyed the charm and service. I like that you can tell it’s been at this location for a long time. The catfish and grits were delicious. Great seasonal pancakes. Good coffee. Will definitely recommend and be back when visiting!
