They have a very authentic Korean menu. I highly recommend the beef soondubu soup as well as the kimchi spam bimbimbop. They really know how to cook. The place is clean and well ventilated and presentation great.

Our favorite Korean restaurant in the East Bay. We eat here at least twice a month. Galbitang, kimchi soondoobu, bibimbap, dolsot bibimbap, bulgogi, kimchi/seafood/chive pancakes, chicken katsu, naengmyeon, banchan—everything is always amazing. The bibimbap can be made vegetarian with tofu instead of beef. Love the service, atmosphere, and that the broth soups are salted to taste at the table. It’s smaller and parking is limited so getting there early is a must.

Wanggalbitang short rib soup and the kimchi pancake were excellent. Authentic and homey. Service could have been more attentive.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland. The soup is on par with what you will find in Koreatown in LA, which is hard to come by in the Bay Area, unfortunately. The vibes of the restaurant are exactly what you'd hope to eat some delicious gomtang at, homey, no-frills, but clean. The people who work here really love their craft and are very nice. I recommend dining in because I don't think this stuff does well as takeout. Don't expect an amazing sit-down experience, do expect some of the best broths you've ever had in your life. Their seafood pancake is also great!P.S. most of the bone broth dishes are not salted by default. You have to add salt yourself. This is normal!!

We liked the soup a lot, but dumplings were stale and the server lady with glasses misconstrued the ingredients in the dumplings. She said the dumplings had beef and kimchi and it turned out to be diced tofu sort of with very little beef incorporated, and refused to send the dumplings back to the kitchen. She also didn't list out the ingredients in the soup, and we felt very threatened by her attitude. Felt like she took advantage of us being younger girls and kind of got angry at us when we said we didn't like the dumplings. We still paid $20 for 5 dumplings we never ate and feared the food safety of. Tasted like dog food tbh. Kimchi Soup was good, though. Just kinda sucks that the server is the type of Korean lady who only seems to care about saving face in front of the white people, but if it's Asian customers, she can treat them however. Hopefully they can hire another waiter in the future. Will be reporting to the FHS departments.

This restaurant is amazing! The food was spectacular, and far more better than all of the other Korean restaurants I have tried before. The flavor of the bulgogi was absolutely delicious. It was tender, sweet, and juicy. The waitress was super kind, and let us stay for extra time to finish our meal. Service was quick, and the prices of the meals were worth it. I definitely recommend you going to this small business because it is super underrated and super amazing. Thank you Seoul Gom Tang for making our experience amazingly delicious! ??Kid-friendliness: The kid meals were amazing, and my daughters who usually don't finish their meals finished all of their fried chicken in 20 minutes. :)

If you want authentic Korean food that ahjummas and ahjussis will approve of, go here! Service was prompt and friendly. The side dishes were perfectly seasoned and main dishes were great and flavorful! Portions are big. Officially my go to for good Korean soups & stews.

A Symphony of Flavors at Seoul GomtangStepping into Seoul Gomtang feels like a warm embrace, a comforting haven for any ardent lover of Korean cuisine. The atmosphere here is as inviting as the food, bringing together a truly authentic Korean dining experience right in the heart of our city. The young lady who attended to us was an embodiment of true Korean hospitality. She was friendly, attentive, not to mention very pretty and had a clear passion for the food she was serving. Her cheerful demeanor and prompt service added an extra layer of joy to our dining experience. Now onto the food - oh, the food! The Bibim Bap was nothing short of exceptional. The ingredients were fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. Each spoonful revealed new layers of flavor that left us eagerly anticipating the next bite. But the real star of the show was the short rib soup. It was a delightful blend of succulent short ribs, clear, aromatic broth, and fresh vegetables, creating a melody of tastes that had us entranced. The meat was tender, the broth was rich, and the overall experience was absolutely soul-satisfying. Seoul Gomtang offers not just food, but a feast for the senses. The combination of exceptional dishes, warm ambiance, and friendly service makes it a must-visit for any food lover. Our visit was an unforgettable journey of flavor and hospitality that will definitely have us returning for more.

Food 10/10: Ordered the gomtang tteokguk (slicked rice cake soup) and the mul naengmyeon combo (cold noodle and bulgogi). The rice cake soup is a very simple soup (ie not too much flavor and very clean) which is what I wanted since my stomach wasn't too great. The cold noodles came with mustard and vinegar on the side which added a delicious bite.Service 9/10:Server was really nice and food came out pretty fastAmbiance 7/10The place is very old and reminiscent of a longtime family establishment. There was Korean tv playing in the background and bts posters by the front which made it feel comforting. If you're looking for great Korean soup to have on a cold day or after a long night out definitely check this place out.

This place is legit! I got the chadol gomtang which had thinly sliced brisket in it. There was a lot of meat for me, enough for a second meal. Salt and add scallions yourself, which is how the authentic places do it and it’s important to me because I like my soup very lightly salted. It comes with generous amounts of 3 kinds of kimchi. Got a seafood pancake for the table and it was great too.
