Be prepared to WAIT for your food. I would have ordered more but then lunch would turn into dinner from how long it takes for the soba to be brought out.

Their outdoor setting is very nice and relaxing. Kids & pet friendly. Kamo Nanban was best!

Delish and great service. But a bit pricy for the quality and serving size. Worth trying at least once.

It’s a little on the pricey side but the soba is made with care and you can taste it and feel the excellent texture. The broth is also very good with a rich and satisfying flavor. I had the tempura soba combo and it was about $22. Also got the sashimi for $26 which was very good even though it was also expensive! All in all a great place to return to when I feel like splurging on a nice bowl of noodles.

Went here for my birthday. Had the sashimi as an appetizer, it was beautifully presented and delicious. When we were done they came by to take the fish body away for deep frying. This was a cool second part to the appetizer. It was a very fun experience with a transformative dish, would highly recommend.

Really nice authentic Soba place! We had the Mackerel, which I never had before, and it was really good. Definitely recommend it.You can ask for the fish itself to be fried after you are done with it. Even though it tastes good, it’s still pretty hard to it due to the bones I had the duck soba and it was just ok in my opinion. I think the soba could use a little bit more flavor. The rice beer in the pictures was amazing!

As I get older and see the world more as a mixture of histories and cultures, I have to say I put less stock in the idea of an "authentic" X experience. That said, Soba Ichi lives up to even the greatest Japanese Soba experiences I've had in Japan.Soba Ichi services, you guessed it, Soba. On multiple levels, a restaurant like Soba Ichi is unique and gives me the warmest feeling. Rarely are there strictly themed restaurants like this anymore that do it from a position of quality rather than quantity. If you're looking to have a Japanese Soba experience of the kind you might have in Kyoto, Japan, try Soba Ichi.

We saw Soba Ichi on the Bay area show called Check Please and were immediately interested in checking them out. When we were reading the reviews, it almost convinced us not to go to the restaurant but we still took our chances and we were glad we did. A lot of people mainly mentioned the food being overpriced but I think it was worth it for the quality and depth of flavor of their food. Their soba noodles are handmade in restaurant and has a good bounce and chew to it. This restaurant is as close as you can get to authentic Japanese food and atmosphere. They have a nice inside and outdoor atmosphere with a zen bamboo fountain trickling water, which is calming too. We ordered the smoked salmon appetizer and cold soba with tempura. Everything came out great. Salmon was super smooth, melted in our mouth, and tasty. We like to make soba at home with the dried store bought noodles, and those dont stand a chance against the noodles at Soba Ichi. The server was very polite, quick to fill up our waters, and good about checking up on us. The server also mentioned that they will have different seasonal appetizers. We're curious to check out their different options when we go next time. This restautant is also next to a Japanese sake brewery and offer a good selection of freshly brewed Japanese sake. I heard great things about their sake and drinks. Wouldn't be able to come too often because we live a distance away, but we definitely plan on coming back!

Not much to say about this restaurant other than it's authentic Japanese soba served in a somewhat cozy setting. They have outdoor heating for most of the outdoor seating, but not all unfortunately. Didn't get a good look inside but they do have tables all around. You order and pay upfront before sitting down. The staff are very attentive and will refill your water right away. My only problem with the food is.. it's expensive even for Bay Area standards. Each soba we ordered was $25 before tax and tip. I know soba is more rare than ramen, but this is kinda crazy.

Fresh soba noodles, light and hearty tempuras, delicious duck meat, and tasty tuna rice (Maguro Yukke). Would definitely be back to try their other seasonal dishes!

Honestly the only problem I have with Soba Ichi is that I don't live closer to it. Since day one here I've been in love. I mean it's fresh Soba noodles with flavorful broths, fun appetizers and kickass desserts ... what's there not to love. Whenever we are in town we always visit. The ambience is relaxed, the service is great and like I said the food is outstanding.

The persimmon salad is good. Soba is overpriced and tastes very unimpressive, surprisingly just like what I cooked at home from packed soba noodle. And it takes more than half an hour to serve soba in a not busy night. I had a lot of freshly soba noodle in my childhood. I can tell you it takes less than 3min to cook soba noodle from a dough and they tasted much better. I highly suspect they just deliberately make you wait because some ppl might find it fancier that way.

Extremely overpriced, extremely small portions, the food was nothing espectacular, just average to mediocre. The only special thing about the soba was that it was very expensive, very small and very boring. The taste was bland, it lacked more zing, more ingredients and more toppings.Ordered the tempura soba, got a small bowl of very plain broth and soba, and a side dish with tempura, literally four tiny pieces of tempura, each piece 2 inches or less in length, and it was badly prepared, the batter was terrible. Two of the appetizers are interesting, but extremely small, and nothing to come back for.Perhaps the gelato is the best thing in the menu. This place is a rip off.If they cut the prices of everything in half I would give them one more star.I won't come back, even though my studio is literally around the corner. There are much better soba places.
