I’ve been searching for a great bakery ever since the one I’ve been using since I was a child shut down in the pandemic. This place is really, really good. We ordered my daughter’s birthday cake and two dozen cupcakes and I think at least 8 people asked me where is was from they liked it so much. Five flavors of cupcakes and the cake itself were all so good. The lemon cupcake was especially delicious. I LOVE buttercream frosting and this is up there with the best I’ve ever had. You can tell how fresh all the ingredients are, old school baking in the best sense possible. The ordering system was really easy. I filled out the online form, David got back to me super fast and sent me three pictures for inspiration/options to match our custom cake theme and the only problem was it was hard to choose which one we liked best they were all so pretty. I paid the invoice online once we’d finalized the order and it couldn’t have been simpler. We loved the cake when we picked it up, so pretty (plus then delicious once we ate it). Excited I’ve found the go to place for all future birthdays and cake needs for our family. Love their story too!

We ordered some Elmo & Abby themed cupcakes and birthday for our toddlers party and David sure did deliver! I wish I had taken more photos because the cupcakes and cake were so BEAUTIFUL and incredibly delicious/moist. David was very easy to work with, so responsive, and able to create masterful and yummy treats that our toddler still remembers/asks for every morning for breakfast. I worked with this bakery for my 40th birthday and loved my cake and cupcakes! I had an 8 inch round cake and 6 vegan cupcakes and 6 non-vegan cupcakes. Everything was so delicious and beautiful! Even the restaurant staff commented on how good the cupcakes looked when I dropped them off! The ordering process was super easy and the owner was very thorough in making sure my order was just right. My cake design was perfect and the flavor was so yummy!! I highly recommend this bakery and will absolutely be back!!

Everyone I know was like me and used Neldam's and secondarily Merritt bakery for their special occasion cakes. Since both no longer exist, I decided to give a local black owned business a try. After browsing their webpage pictures and reading the back story, I decided to give them a try. The process was fairly easy, I gave them a call and briefly talked through what I wanted, I then put through my custom order online through their website. We emailed back and forth a few times to iron out the details that included my upload a concept design idea picture, colors, pick up date and payment. I was done. He always responded within 24 hours or less. I supplied the alcohol bottle and my cake was ready on pickup day as promised. I was very pleased with my cake and it was delicious!! The only downside was parking and it was a little pricey. There is limited on street parking in front and I felt the price was I bit on the high side of what I wanted to payNevertheless, I will use them again for my next custom cake..I recommend giving them a try.

I ordered a 3 layered cake for my daughter's birthday. The presentation is good, my daughter is quite pleased with the color and design, however some missing details and the cake is dry.
It's my bestie's birthday, and I ordered these cupcakes for her. Sugarsweet had them ready to go right on time, and carefully packed in sturdy boxes so we could get them to the party without them getting smooshed. They also gave me instructions to get them to the party since I had to get them the day before and the bakery was closed on the day of. The best part, though is that the cupcakes were unbelievably delicious! The flavors were well balanced and not overly sweet. There were no leftovers, and everyone raved about the cupcakes.

I followed my nose to the door and it opened into an inviting space with a beaming owner/baker greeting me.The owner’s name is David and I got to learn more about what they specialize in. Custom cakes are where they’re at apparently. However, my nose led and my belly followed - I got 3 cookies and 3 cupcakes.The cookies were delicious, flavored with enough distinction between each type and not too much sugar - regardless of the name of the shop. Cookies 10/10The 3 cupcakes had exquisite frosting, buttery, fun colors and a flavor-filled “frosting chip”. Nom nom nom, the cake was fluffy & airy. My only gripe was it smelled/tasted a tad bit too eggy. Cupcakes 9/10I will be back to try more!Kudos to a friendly owner, even at the end of his day.

David and his team made one of the best cakes I've EVER had. This was a few weeks ago and I'm still talking about it!We hosted a cooking class birthday party at Kitchen on Fire in Berkeley (it was awesome) for about 20 people. My girlfriend loves coffee and handmade pottery, so naturally I wanted that incorporated into a design. David NAILED the design. When I took the cake out at the party, everyone was wowed by the presentation. As we passed out slices, our normally very loud group went nearly silent. The cake was THAT GOOD! I asked David to make something on a whim that I thought might taste good and be somewhat close to coffee: mocha cake, hazelnut filling, and Kahlua coffee buttercream frosting. Again, NAILED IT! One of the chefs at the venue asked me where I got the cake because they want to hire them. That person taught dessert and pastry classes. If that isn't a sign of respect, I don't know what is. I'm rambling, but we cannot stop thinking about this amazing custom cake and can't wait to find another excuse to have one made! If you're looking for a custom cake for any occasion, you won't find anyone better than Sugarsweet.

It's a small storefront, but helped satisfy a sweet craving.Order:-Cupcakes (orange cream, double chocolate, chocolate on vanilla, carrot, coconut): All were super delicious! I liked how they were SUPER moist. The frosting was not overly sweet and super generous. The coconut was on point, especially with the frosting. The chocolate is rich as well.-Cookies (chocochunk, triple chocolate): The texture of the cookie was great-- crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, just how I enjoy it.Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Would recommend!
