Yaya Poke was always my favorite place to grab something to eat after school ended. The portion size is big for the price you're paying. They're a hole-in-the-wall shop with a few seats to sit on. Sad to see them close, my friends and I loved grabbing poke from here.

This is my FAVORITE poke place, it also has the best prices. I love how you order on a piece of paper and hand it over to the lady for them to prepare your bowl. They always fill the bowl with so much food, a medium bowl feels more like a large bowl. The ladies never skimp on the toppings, they make sure your bowl is overfilling to the brim. There is even FREE tea given with your order!!!! I've been coming here for over 3 years.

Reasonable price and huge portion with complimentary drink. Recommended!

The most affordable poke place in the area! And you still get plenty of food. As others have pointed out, avocado is a free topping. It's one of the storefronts in the parking plaza. It is a grab and go place. Love that I'm able to order online and pick up quickly when I'm on a time crunch. I can see why people have pointed out customer service. However, I have interacted with the owners themselves, who have been really nice.

Price is cheap - for a reason. My husband and I stopped by Yaya after seeing the positive reviews. We went to Chinatown in Oakland and saw the unassuming storefront: tiny, with a small section for items that are $1 directly next to the food stand. I thought "oh fun, this must be just another one of those hole in the wall places", given how things appeared inside. So how they get you is with the portions - they load everything up here and for REALLY cheap. I noticed none of their fish was sitting on ice/refrigerated/no labels, but didn't think much of it until now. We got bowls with heaping amounts of spicy tuna, regular tuna, crab, etc. I thought we won the jackpot for the amount of food we got. About 10-15 minutes after eating, I started to feel extremely nauseous. I noticed my face also was getting flushed with red and a few hours later my husband and I both had some issues (if you know what I mean). We knew at that moment we had food poisoning, but thought it was eerie how quickly we got sick. The next day my legs broke out into hives - thought this meant I had an allergy, but nothing I ate in the poke bowl was something I hadn't had before. After talking to my doctor, we came to the conclusion that we likely had Scombroid Fish Poisoning (also known as histamine induced food poisoning) which is super common with fish like tuna, blue fin, mahi mahi, and more. These fish have natural levels of histidine and the improper storage of these types of fish will cause this to turn to histamine when bacterial growth is present. So, Yaya gave us food poisoning. Awesome. Needless to say, I'll never be coming back here. I read through some of the other lower star reviews and noticed others commenting on food poisoning / nausea from their meals (going back to 2018!). It's clear this is a long-standing issue with this facility, and this hasn't been addressed. It's absolutely necessary that food inspection come by Yaya - do not eat here until they do.

Four stars based on value and for what it is compared to other common poke bowl places. In fact I'd almost give them five. Understand that this rating is not comparing them to my standard of poke bowls in Hawai'i or the high grade fresh sashimi from other places run by folks from HI, that's a different category as far as I'm concerned. This place gives you a good portion and a decent product compared to your common CA/mainland style poke bowl place you find at the mall or strip malls, this place is better than most. Don't expect sashimi grade fresh Ahi at these prices. You'd have to pay at least double to get that. Enjoy it for what it is, inexpensive and great value when you're hungry.

We fell in love with Poke on a few trips to Hawaii and now when we get that craving to go to the islands we console ourselves with some Poke Bowls from Yaya Poke! They're fresh, delish, always reliable (we've ordered many, many times: always great). I cannot recommend them enough. Run, don't walk there! Better yet- have it delivered!!

YaYa poke is my go-to lunch spot in Oakland. I love how fresh the fish here tastes and the portions are huge, while keeping their prices fair (2 large bowls for less than $25) Bonus points: free avocado as one of the toppings, gotta love it!The food and friendly staff will keep me as their loyal customer.

Great food fresh - very good prices. And you get some kind of weird tea with little fruit seeds in it that was actually pretty good. I've been back three times now. Note they aren't following the hours posted on their door (as of late Sep 2020) - the door says they close at 8:00 pm, but they actually close at 6:00 pm.

This place is amazing! I'm not actually sure how long they've been open but I first stopped by like 3 weeks ago and I've already been at least 5 times. The woman (I'm assuming the owner) who works there is a delight. The food is bomb and the bowls are loaded! Also the passion fruit drink is amazing. Love it!
