We spent last weekend pretty much at the American Legion (Feb. 17, 18). A Friday birthday party of a member; and a grand opening of the new building on Saturday. Friendly, inviting, and some darn great friends there. I live part of the year 50 miles away. Going there, with hotel stays, is the best.

Inside is nice and cozy for a reception. The outside entrance needs to be cleaned up. .. cigarette butts, some trash... the bbq pit looked dingy and dirty to be at the entrance.

This goes out to all the veterans men and women who served our great country and to the sons of the American legion and to the auxiliary American legion and to the riders of the American legion. We salute you thank you for your service. Some risked it all and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. God bless you. ??

Attended a party at this location, their hall was rented. We were warned the place was old, which is ok. But it was dirty! The glass cases with pictures and other memorabilia had trash and layers of not dust but actual dirt. Old broken furniture all over the place, no working bathrooms, and trash and junk all over the place. When we moved items so people would not have to walk through trash and junk to enter the building we were told "that's where that belongs" Staff was rude, they treated everyone in the group as if they did not want us there. Coming from a military family and having spent a lot of time on both active and reserve bases (which are old) I have never seen such disregard for basic cleanliness. It's a shame that this is what we are offering our vets... This behavior was not learned in any branch of the military.
