I love tiny restaurants. The feel is much more like you're a guest in someone's home and you're often treated with that level of familiarity and kindness. When was the last time a restauranteur offered seconds on your side dishes? More beans? More rice? More tortillas? Mid meal I got all three at Valentina's. The generosity implicit in that offer just makes my heart smile. Unfortunately the down side to that familiarity can sometimes be a lack of rigor. No hot water in the bathroom? I guess they'll fix that later. A toilet that REALLY needs some scrubbing? Why you lookin' down there anyway Whitie? Salchichas made with hot dogs instead of any better type of sausage. Sorry Baby that's what we got. The beans and the melon aguas frescas were delicious. The service was sweet and very generous. Just wish they'd used something besides hot dogs. AND SCRUB THAT BATHROOM!
