Downtown Long Beach has a farmers market every Friday and this is one of the tents i never miss stopping by. I've had a fair share of tamales throughout the years and I have to say, these are by far one of my favorites! Let's say, ones where i don't get a massive heartburn or overly guilty yet hits the spot is good enough for me. Best part is their delicious salsa!! Im a whimp for spicy stuff which i know, i know.... im probably not the best to make an opinion for anything spicy but i will definitely try ans tough it out to taste test their flavors. Haven't tried the spicy salsa yet but their mild one is one of the best. Weird to say, i like them so much i can almost drink it. My favourite flavors of tamales so far are their chicken and chilli/cheese!! Their beef aren't bad and has more of a kick if you like a little spice. Their chicken and cheese ones aren't spicy for the whimpy spice eaters like me. Ive also tried their sweet corn one and this I have to say lacked a little bit. Customer service is awesome! Their is usually and older man there and sometimes he has subs but they are all very nice, quick workers! Compared to other tents, this one gets a line. So that tells you something. Cons, if any is: - Cash only - a bit costly $3.50/ea, compared to others I've had

Recently picked up a dozen of assorted tamales, and they were amazing! We got a few beef, chicken, and cheese and all were delicious! The masa remained incredibly moist and flavorful for several days, and there was plenty of delicious and good-quality filling in all varieties.

I love these tamales! The business name is more than perfect. These suckers are huge and affordable. Each had a perfectly proportioned amount of filling and the masa was firm enough to hold everything while still being pleasantly soft. I don't want to choose a favorite, but if I had to I would say the beef was a standout. The spicy salsa was delightfully hot while not overpowering the delicate tamal. I implore you to buy as many as you can stomach and then some because you can always save them for later. No reinventing the wheel here. Just comforting, simple, down-to-earth tamale goodness. There are a couple of vegetarian options if the meat isn't your thing.

I was just at the Friday Farmer's Market last Friday in DTLB - annoying at the time, I was mostly there to pick up some bread from Colossus for our lunch that day, but he wasn't there that week, which was convenient for this tamale-seller! My wife had asked me to bring her back a tamale if I saw any while I was there, but I figured since our lunch plans had just fallen through, I'd buy us both some tamales (and a pupusa) instead. Got a bag of food like one minute later, brought it home, quickly microwaved them wrapped individually in paper towels, and had a great lunch. $3.50 per tamale sounds like a lot, but they are *large* - normally I'd want 3-4 tamales for lunch, but we agreed, two items here is plenty. They're about 50% bigger than I'd expect, neither too dense nor too crumbly, and totally stuffed with filling - I got the cheese and pepper tamale, which had cheese and peppers in every bite, not just one tiny pepper like some cheaper tamales! (Though if you like it spicy, you should definitely also dump their red salsa on it, which has quite a kick. Though definitely use both of their salsas, even though the green one isn't spicy, they're both great!) I also tried their steak pupusa, which was indeed also stuffed full of steak - and perfectly high quality meat, not fatty or gristly, an extremely enjoyable pupusa (though I do wish it'd come with curtido!) My wife ate all her pork tamale before I could steal a bite (she said it was great), but I did steal a bite of the chicken, which word of warning, if you're very averse to peppers like my wife, the chicken tamale is full of little bits of peppers (I thought it was delicious too!) I'd definitely buy these tamales (and pupusas) again.

These tamales have such great flavor and the ratio of meat to dough is perfect. Tamales all year round is great. Fast and quick breakfast, lunch or dinner. I steam mine vs microwave. They taste like they just came out of the pot. Thank you.

This was the best tamale I have ever had in my life!!!! After eating it I sat and pondered why anyone would ever make or eat other ones and why no one has told me about this place. They are so fluffy they just melt in your mouth! Those dense hard ones should all be thrown away. This is what a tamale should taste like!

Tried to come here on Christmas eve when it was unusually rainy, and encountered a huge line outside, with many people waiting sans masks... so we sadly turned around and went home. However, not to be discouraged, I asked my dad to swing by after Christmas and lo and behold, no line! He got 1/2 dozen each of the beef, pork and chicken, and then 1/2 dozen chile rellenos as well. Each comes with red sauce or green sauce. We had them yesterday for lunch prior to NYE dinner and they were AMAZING. They are huge like many other people have noted, stuffed to the brim with meat, not like other places that just fill the tamales with masa. The sauces are a great compliment. I will say though that the chile rellenos are a pleasant surprise. We just baked them in a small ramekin until bubbly and OMG was it delicious. Especially with the red sauce. We will be back for more!

My boyfriend and I are plant based with a Latino background so we love tamales. Luckily they offer corn, pina, & veggie that is supposedly "vegan". I trust them ... I think. But anyways delicious tamales. The sweet corn is the best.

I stopped by here a few days before Christmas to pick up bags of cold tamales. I chose 3 kinds: pork with red sauce, beef, and cheese. The tamales were HUGE and the price was right at about $2 each. The masa is incredibly moist and well seasoned, and there is a large amount of meat in each tamale! The shredded beef and pork were both very tender, flavorful and plentiful. And as for the cheese ones, they are legit cheesy (i've had many a cheese tamale that was bland). The tamales also came with large cups of green and red sauce. I liked the green sauce better, but both were yummy and not too spicy. The service was quick and the lady who helped me was a sweetheart. I'll be back for more :)
