We had a lovely evening. Our server was a most enjoyable lady who made our dining experience delightful. Our food was prepared perfectly as always. It was a very busy evening but all wait staff had smiles on their faces like they really enjoyed what they were doing!!
Food was amazing. Waitress left much to be desired. Made me feel every question I asked was stupid. She was flippant, in a hurry and seemed to just want to turn the table. “Are you ready to order?” I felt we were being waited on at Sherman's Deli. The servers and runners were hard working and available. I would come back if I could be sure she would not wait on my table.

Absolutely fantastic, as always! Johannes never disappoints, but the camel steak special was superb! We had never had that before and we are huge fans of exotic meats. Our server, Ray, won us over with his quick wit and charm and Stephanie, the bartender, was able to make our random drink request perfectly, even though she didn't have all of the ingredients (not every bar has Cherry Herring). We always have Johannes on our dinner rotation when we're in Palm Springs as it's one of our favorites, but this time it was exceptionally good. Kudos! On a side note, one other thing we didn't know but really liked was that they don't cater to children under the age of 5 - that is great! Personally, we don't like to have meals seeing children either tied to an electronic device or running around. It's refreshing to enjoy a nice, quiet meal.

Tried Johannes for the first time last night and it did not disappoint. Great food and service in a really nice atmosphere. The cocktail list was fun, the service was friendly and efficient and the food was great. We tried some of the specials but of course ordered the schnitzel for entrees (who doesn't love a restaurant with a full on schnitzel menu).

This is easily one of our favorite restaurants. We try to make it here as often as possible. Ray is always amazing and takes such great care of us. Stephanie also does an amazing job of taking care of our cocktails. We love the entire staff at Johannes. We had the benefit during this visit of meeting Johannes Bacher. What a nice touch to have him walk around and greet the guests and ask for feedback. Made this even more special.

SERVICE SCAM ALERT! SERVICE SCAM ALERT!This is the worst restaurant review I have had to write in the three dozen I have authored of the topic of fine-dining establishments. Per Google, over 12,000 individuals have read my reviews.My visit on February 18 was my third visit in as many years. This year I booked as an OpenTable VIP and our party of 2 arrived one minute early. We watched as three parties were told that Johannes was running "a few minutes behind and would they take a seat at the bar and order a drink." We did as we were told but found it odd that the other parties that were shuffled off to the bar were seated immediately after their drinks came. I sensed a hustle on the restaurant's part to sell drinks, so I asked the host if we could have out liquor comped, to which he replied, "I have no control over that, you'll have to talk to your wait person."The wait person cut me off in mid-sentence asking for an accommodation and said in a grating New York accent, loudly, "NO WAY. YOU MUST NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT PALM SPRINGS IN THE WINTER! YOUR 15-MINUTE WAIT IS TO BE EXPECTED!" That was it, no "I'm sorry" or any version of contrition. Frankly, I have a mother so I don't need a wait person being my Jewish mother. Secondly, it is a scam to sell drinks. Thirdly, as acceptable as the Wiener Schnitzer was, the service was SO RUDE, PUSHY, AND OFFENSIVE that we recommend you not go either. For those of you who are thinking "she might have been having a bad day", you are mistaken as I've had this woman before and she is consistently rude and annoying.
We had an excellent dining experience at Johannes. My friend and I shared a wiener schnitzel with lemon caper sauce. There was a charge for splitting the order, but each of us received an attractively plated entree that probably included a full portion of the cucumber salad and roasted potatoes. More than enough: the Wiener schnitzel was huge (and perfectly prepared). The mushroom soup was wonderful. My husband enjoyed his fish entree, also well prepared and attractively plated. We liked the simple elegance of the interior, and the service was friendly, professional and attentive.

After my last meal here, I looked forward to sharing the experience with some foodie relatives that were visiting. Johannes came through with a consistently excellent experience of outstanding food, service, and a welcoming atmosphere. This time I save room to share the strudel. I must say that both the schnitzel and the strudel went beyond anything I've had in Vienna.

We visited Johannes as a party of 4 to celebrate my wife's Birthday. Each of us selected different appetizers and entrees, and without exception we were all very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The server was also very friendly and the staff in general were excellent. We will definitely be going back!

Having lived in Vienna for several months, I'd sampled various Viennese weinerschnitzles. Johannes being owned by an Austrian, gave hope to a true weinerschnitzle. I'm happy to say Johannes didn't disappoint! It was a PERFECT version of a classically prepared weinerschnitzle. It was the standard dinner plate size, thin, golden brown and non greasy coating. Served, as usual, with a lemon for spritzing, the frequent accompaniment of a sour cream cucumber side and a few small roasted potatoes. Exactly right! The appetizers were delicious also - fried oysters and an unusual and tasty pairing of mussels in spicy coconut milk. The cocktails were also excellent. The service was outstanding, with friendly smiles, attentive but non intrusive. Johannes along with La Copine were the best dining experiences during our week in Palm Springs.
