This was a totally negative experience. the baked Brie was overcooked which made the bread impossible to cut. Either that or they had microwaved it which turns bread to rocks. My dinner, shrimp and scallops scampi style was mediocre. A friends salmon was overcooked, the sand dabs looked greasy and it was a small portion. Lamp chops were overcooked, cooked to a crisp. And the SERVICE WAS NON EXISTENT. Appetiser and salad dishes hadn't been cleared when dinner was being served. They aren't bashful about prices here. Spend your dollars somewhere else. This is a total disappointment.

Best restaurant ever. Our family has been coming here for 20+ years. Owners Luis and Alfredo are so sweet. The staff are so friendly and accommodating , especially Julie. The food is amazing. My favorite is the macadamia crusted sole but all are delicious. The desserts are homemade and out of this world! But please don't tell anyone else about this place we want to keep it the best kept secret in the desert!

We look forward to going to this restaurant every time we visit Palm Desert. This time , though, we were disappointed! The lamb was scorched and over well done. The chop chop salad was drenched with dressing and soggy. We were with another couple and we said each couple would pay their own check. We were shocked that sn extra $1 was charged to each couple for "splitting a check !" We did not split anything .. we just asked for separate checks ! We've never heard of this practice!!! The service was great and the other three at the table were satisfied with their meals. We will give it 3 stars when every other visit was 5 stars

The food was good. A little packed inside, outdoor seating is the way go to, however, keep an eye out for berries or leaves falling off the trees that hang over the dining tables, they might fall into your dinner plate. Wine and drinks are available.

Hidden Gem, although the chicken dinner was a complete disappointment. Very dry, cold, and overcooked. Took friends for the first time, so keep quiet about embarrassing chicken dinner I ordered. Since we raved about the food. Oh

I have been at JH several times since my first visit a few years ago. Everything about John Henry's is a 5, including service, ambience, menu variety and price and a lot of the entrees as well. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could, just holding back slightly for a couple entrees that might not be the most outstanding in town but hey, 4 out of 5 stars is pretty f'n good! If there was a rating for 'experience' JH is six stars! PS make reservations for outside dining if you can.

Our first trip the John Henry's in Palm Springs. It was good. The Caesar salad was great, anchovies and all. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. It could have been a little warmer. Tasted good, but not great. My wife had the steak and after having a 3 minute conversation with the waiter about wanting it done and not rare, it came out rare. She had to send it back and it was still not done. She didn't want to bother, so she ate it. The Sunny Lemon Cake was the highlight of the evening. Excellent.

I live in Seattle Washington. I spent a week in Palm Springs with my mother and ate at this establishment the day before I was supposed to come back to Seattle. The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who is looking to make a visit to Palm Springs California!

Fantastic food, service and drinks. Nice outdoor patio vibe. Large portions and extensive menu.

Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere eating on the patio. Feels like a real locals place, not tourists. The Real Thing. Love the coconut cake with pineapple ice cream. Like every other restaurant prices have gone up recently but still a great value.

A bit disappointed with our experience. Crab cakes seemed over breaded. Tenderloin was "fine" but for the price just not worth it. The chop salad to start was good. Heavy drink pours. Service was marginal. Took a crab cake home and asked to make sure the sauces were included. They were not. Boiled carrots. We will give it another try because the reviews are so positive. But our first foray was underwhelming.

I recently had a birthday dinner for 10 people at John Henry's and was so impressed with the service--impeccable! We had a bit of a wait before being seated but that was the only flaw in a lovely evening. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the chocolate cake I ordered for the birthday boy was terrific and served beautifully.

One of my favorite restaurants. Good food, great ambience and good service but alas, they have priced themselves out of my and many of my friends budget.
