Really fresh and tasty sushi. Casual atmosphere, super nice staff, amazing food. Some of the best sushi I’ve had - so the price is worth it. The sushi chef saying goodbye/thank you with a big smile was a great way to end our experience.

This is the freshest sushi in town. It’s the closest to the type of sushi I’ve had in Japan that I’ve found in Palm Springs. Every thing is really delicious. The service is very consistent. The restaurant is spotlessly clean.

I had the omakase experience and I cannot say enough positive things about it. Every course was generous and featured fresh, delicious, high-quality fish prepared by a master craftsman.

By far the best sushi in the valley. Very fresh and excellent cuts. Attentive service, always our go to for sushi anymore.

Food was great, and reasonably priced too. Not much atmosphere, and they use a free streaming service that had commercials that interrupted the music. But I’d still go back! There is parking right next to the place, off street.

Taka Shin restaurant exceeded all expectations! The sushi was a masterpiece of flavors and textures. From the melt-in-your-mouth sashimi to the expertly crafted rolls, every bite was a culinary delight. A definite must-visit for sushi lovers!

When we entered, the place was filled with a strong smell of chlorine. The tables were positioned very close to the bathrooms as it's a small establishment. The sushi bar's refrigerator had fewer pieces of fish. The portions were smaller than the usual serving size. I ordered a seaweed salad and a shrimp tempura appetizer, both of which were incredibly small and thin, almost the size of my finger. We also ordered a rainbow roll and a California roll, but they were not well-made. As soon as you picked up a piece, it would break apart because they used half the normal paper. You can see it in the picture, and it made it difficult to enjoy each bite. On the positive side, the fish and crab were fresh and of good quality.Another issue was in the kitchen; one of the employees wasn't wearing a hairnet and had all his hair exposed, while another had a cap on backward. Additionally, I witnessed one of the waiters touch the placemats, and I didn't see him wash his hands afterward. My overall experience was not the best, and the waiter kept explaining that the sushi chef was facing delays with his orders.

Top class. This is NOT an Americanized sushi restaurant. Please do not come here and leave a one star review because they did not have a cream cheese or steak roll for you.

I've been here a couple times and it's always a great meal. Sushi in the desert sounds like a risky idea, but Taka Shin not only delivers, it excels. The restaurant is a in a nondescript building on the main strip of town. It's a welcoming spot for all occasions - solo, date night, groups, etc. The staff is super friendly and in classic sushi-style, you can watch the chef assemble your meal from the sushi bar.The food itself is delicious, I've never had a bad meal. This last time I went, I got a seaweed salad, the one piece of nodoguru, a six piece king salmon cut roll, and a six piece yellowtail cut roll - but honestly, try as much as you can!Yes, it's a little on the pricy side, but you're paying for fresh sushi in the desert, it's totally worth it.

This review is based on non-sushi related dishes since we typically like to try the other Japanese options... Don't go here for lunch. The bento that they're currently advertising was like subpar Japanese airplane food. Everything was served in disposable containers (please stop doing this). Portions were weird and lacked flavor. I did like the egg and pickles, however. Surprised since I've been here for dinner (pre-pandemic) and it was much, much better (maybe a new owner now?). This place had so much promise to be a legit Japanese experience when they first arrived to PS. Disappointed since real Japanese food is so lacking in PS.

Today's lunch was excellent! Your service and presentations of our delicious Bento box lunches of curried beef and fried chicken were awesome! See you soon!

Maybe this is good for Palm Spring, but the quality and size of the sushi did not match the premium price range. The menu shows the price per 1 sushi... which is not a problem if the sushi is good.Good sushi has a balance of the flavor of fish and the fresh flavor of the ocean. Bad cuts of sushi or olderyou can tell because it is unbalanced. The fish here was just not to par. It was just okay. The tempura was not made well. Good tempura is not oily and the size and color should remain firm and crunchy. This needs improvement.Overall, the sushi was okay, but did not match the premium price tag. I have found better sushi at cheaper places.

Save your money and time, and eat elsewhere. This place was unacceptable. The restaurant wreaked of fishy odor, and the air temp was really warm, probably in the mid-70s. We arrived for dinner around 7pm, and while it wasn't crowded, the service was really slow. They had only one server. The miso soup was waaaay too salty. The sushi, sashimi, and rolls were underwhelming and overpriced. The fish in the sushi, and on the rainbow roll appeared like scraps, and were so shoddily assembled. The avocado on the rainbow roll was brown. The sashimi was thinly cut, sliced along the wrong grain, and falling apart. I don't know how all the other reviews are raving about this place, but it's a literal dump with unacceptably subpar food and service.

Get up get in get out get it get get get it. The secretary of the interior sat in the booth behind us and would not stop talking about how water is the new black. Meaning I presume that water has become a commodity worth hyping beyond its weight. And at 7lbs. per gallon perhaps we should refer to water like we refer to gasoline. What super power has the most water? How much like by volume of raw tuna is water? And how does that water taste so good.
