$26 for 7 pieces of orange chicken and 2 small pieces of broccoli. Umm never again!! When I called to ask why my carry out order was so skimpy they told me they couldn’t do anything for me. Calling my CC to get refund. Not paying for that.

They just reopened, and we were wondering what it was going to be like now. We're very pleased that the food is still delicious and the service is excellent. You can tell how hard they are all trying to make your experience a good one. If you are looking for tasty Chinese food served by friendly people in a fun atmosphere try Wangs in the Desert.

Don't waste your time. I was hoping for a great meal but was beyond disappointed. And don't get me started on the ultra rude front desk person.... Thought I'd give it a try again, and even though it's under new management or whatever.... It's the same overpriced food but with MUCH smaller portions.

I have heard about Wang's in The Desert for years. They were closed for a while, so no opportunity to visit, but they opened back up again a few months ago... so I gave it a try. A few things that stood out in a positive way... the service, the staff and the kitschy dining room. All were great. Very friendly and attentive servers. The food however was just OK. I tried a few items and all were fine... just not great. They seem to be trying hard to please their customers... and the place was about 65% full, but I think they need to elevate their food game. I will try it again, hopeful they increase the flavor ratio and kick things up a notch or two.

Food is just mediocre and prices are high; portions on some items are too small for the price. The service was SLOW. Server came to table four times to confirm our orders and the wrong food was still delivered. The ambiance has not changed since the previous incarnation of Wangs; it is pretty clear that absolutely no changes have been made. And the room is still way to live; sound deadening is badly needed. I really hate to shout to be heard just across the table. I was hopeful, but very disappointed.

This used to be one of my favorite places in Palm Springs. It's gone way downhill! The greeter was a very friendly woman but the biggest problems were: The food isn't as good as it used to be. Just not the same. It wasn't awful - just not as excellent as it was before. The service wasn't as friendly as it used to be. Ambiance: What happened? It used to be all lit up, creating a great atmosphere with all the artwork highlighted. Instead, it was dark and depressing. Can they not pay their electricity bills? Wang's used to have the most amazing "look" to it. Too bad.

So Chinese food in Palm Springs is lacking, so I really do want the recently reopened Wang's In the Desert to succeed. But I've got to be honest in writing this review. Hopefully mgmt. will read it and make some improvements.First, I'll talk about the atmosphere and service:Upon entering the host person was very nice and escorted us to a table for two. Unfortunately the table was set between the kitchen entrance and the bathroom hallway. So we were constantly skirted by staff going in and out, and also the host stopped at our table 3 times during the evening explaining to people where the bathroom was. There is an illuminated wall next to this badly placed table (see pics), which should just be eliminated altogether given the amount of traffic that flys around this table. And the fact the restaurant was only about 20% occupied, we could have been seated elsewhere. The overall inside dining room is quite dark, especially in the back of the restaurant; overhead can lights are very dim. One table of four was seated in the back and they constantly had to wave the waiters down for everything. Our service was actually good, our waiter was very hospitable but apologetic several times about the "delay". Seemed to be the general mood at other tables.Menu and food:Upon looking at the menu, there were no beverages listed anywhere on the menu "odd" and we were not given a drink list of any kind. I assumed they had soft drinks so I just ordered that to be safe. The lemon lime soda arrived in a small glass about 1/3 the size of the water glass, had to ask for refills. The prices (see pics) are quite steep, so I began to think this may be some really great Chinese food! The hot and sour soup was good, although fairly standard. We ordered two spring rolls, ($9.00 for just two) that while crispy and delicate on the outside were gooey/slimy inside. I had the Kung Pao chicken, which had a fair amount of chicken, peanuts and bell peppers, that was good tasting but it had a huge amount of onion. The ratio of onion to the other ingredients was too much. Companion had Mandarin Pork, the menu said "wokked pork" that had a coating of bread crumbs or corn starch of some kind that wasn't mentioned on the menu. They felt it was fine but heavy on the sweet side.Overall, it wasn't a great dinner. In the end with two sodas, soup, a small appetizer and two main dishes, tax and tip it was well over $100 No alcohol drinks either!I will go back perhaps in a couple months to see if there's been improvement in some areas, maybe request to sit on the back patio in good weather instead of the dark cavern inside. Would I take my friends there? Nope, there are much better Asian food places in Palm Springs... but with a little menu tweaking, and atmosphere design upgrades perhaps Wang's could fill the Chinese category so badly needed in Palm Springs? And maybe elevate themselves to equal the prices they expect.Parking: Good size parking lot in the back that needs clean up and maintenance.

Recently reopened. Made a reservation and glad we did (busy Saturday night). Night atmosphere, plenty of staff. Complimentary cucumber salad to start. Full bar (no Chinese Beer). 2 entrees (Mongolian Beef and Garlic Chicken) both were very good. Ask for silverware if you need them... $80.00 for 2, just soft drinks. Decent value. (One of our cookies did not have a fortune... didn't need a cookie to tells us this lol).

So happy Wang's in the Desert has reopened under new Ownership. Their first night open was last night, 3-14-2024. I've read numerous good reviews and will be going there tonight. More will be posted after dining at Wings.

This place is now open as of 3-14-2024. Went tonight, and it was their 3rd night open. We got there early around 6:30. Not too many patrons, so we were seated quickly by the friendly hostess. Our waiter Josue was friendly and brought us a complimentary side dish of sweet vinegar cucumbers. We ordered Lo Mein with Pork, Kung Pao Shrimp with peanuts and peppers & onions in a spicy chili sauce, and Orange Peel Chicken. The chicken was crispy and served with broccoli. All 3 dishes came out fast within 15 minutes of placing the order. All were very good and tasty! As we were finishing, and paying the restaurant was filling up primarily with gay men.‍ We will be back!

Restaurant is closed! Open table has no record of the closure which led to a very poor experience with out of town guests after booking a table for 6 only to arrive to a boarded up building with a homeless camp in front of the main entrance.

We made a reservation in Open Table, took an Uber to the restaurant, and the doors were locked and lights were off. The sign on the door indicated that they should be open. Being from out of town, we had to wander around and find a new restaurant with an available table. It was very inconvenient.

Although I reserved a table and got a reservation, the restaurant was closed, and apparently had been for quite some time. It would have been nice if OpenTable knew about it, so I could have reserved elsewhere.
