This is one of my favorite pizza places now. The photo gallery in their website totally does the pizza justice. It is as good as it photographs! I never had Detroit-style pizza. I don't take part in the Great Pizza Debate with regional styles vying for Best Pizza Ever. Pizza is either good or it's average. The flavors and textures between cheese, crust and sauce are either balanced and each component delicious, or the magic just doesn't happen. Whenever I try thick, rectangular pizza slices I'm always disappointed in either sauce, cheese, or crust. I always hoped that pizza would taste like these slices. This pizza is the paradigm of what a thick square slice of pizza should be-- a sauce that is deliciously balanced between sweet, tangy, and savory-- the perfect intermediary between cheese and carbs. Speaking of carbs, a nice thick crust, just doughy enough to feel your teeth sink into, but with the edges perfectly carmelized to support the slice as it makes its way to your pizza pie-hole. The cheese was-- well, cheese, but cheese that goes all the way to the edge of the crust, caramelized to a deep golden brown against the pie pan. On this maiden visit, we tried both the Margherita and the Biggio. The Biggio is their version of a meat lover's pizza-- pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, and bacon. The ham and bacon, however, lent a smoky flavor -- almost too barbecue-ish -- for a non-bbq pizza. I know this is Detroit pizza but it was almost a little too un-Italian to us. The Margherita pizza, on the other hand, was crave-worthy. The cheese, sauce, and crust converged into a balance of flavor -- sweet, savory, and tangy, as well as texture -- doughy, crispy, the cheesy stretchiness, the caramelized edges.... I thought this slice was pizza, pure and simple, delicious in its simplicity. Even the tomato slices seemed to be cut the right thickness. I got ours to-go and tried calling ahead-- several times. No go, so I had to order when I got there. The pizzaria (suite #203) lives on the second floor of a two story mini-mall, overlooking the street-side dining lanes on Colorado. The parking lot is also on the second floor which is convenient, the entrance of which is on Mentor, just south of Colorado. Our order took 20 minutes to prepare-- well worth the wait. We also ordered a Caesar salad. Their Caesar was a mix of iceberg and romaine and was fine. Just know that their Caesar salads are tossed-- a dealbreaker for some if you're not into lifeless salads. Just remember this if you're ordering to-go and have to drive a ways before digging in. There is no soda fountain in the restaurant. Beverages are canned. After trying their pizza I appreciate this. I also liked how their menu is simple-- there are just two salads offered and most importantly their pizza, but really, their pizza is all you'll really need. Detroit or otherwise, it's just really good pizza.

Finally got to try this place! I've called twice previously on a Sunday (around 5/6pm) and was told both times that they were out of pizza for the day (hence -1 star). However, I decided to call around noon on a Saturday and they had pizzas (woot woot!). We decided to try the double pepperoni and the bbq pizza. They both had their own unique flavors and complemented each other well (pep was saltier while bbq was a little sweet with a kick). If you're feeling like you're craving a doughy pizza, this is definitely the style for you. I personally needed crushed red pepper and some ranch to get through the dough, which I didn't mind, but this is something you can eat only once in a while imo. (Or when you're craving it of course). We ordered 2 4-squares for 2 people. I ate 2 pieces for lunch, while my boyfriend ate 4 for lunch and 2 for dinner. Hope that helps you decide how much you order!

I've been on the hunt for the best Detroit style pizza in LA and recently tried this spot. Quite the generous size for the 8 slice, though I thought they'd be a little more generous with the toppings when ordering a double pepperoni -- this was a little shy (see pic)I'd give this a solid 4.5 stars. Crust is crispy, nice caramel cheese lace climbing the sides, spongey and doughy crust base to it. Tomato sauce had an earthy herby flavor, but still worked. This was ordered through UberEats and definitely arrived room temperature and needed some time in the oven after arrival. Solid spot for Detroit pizza, I'd happily get it again.

Top notch Detroit style pizza. Then again, this is only my second place I have been to that I have eaten this delicious style of pizza. I am so glad they are right down the street from me. I drove in 3 weeks in a row for pickup and 1 Postmates order as I was too lazy to drive there. I love this place. You should come here if you are a fan of Detroit pizza or if you want to try it for the first time. You will be hooked! I have had the large (8 pieces) and smallI (4 pieces). I prefer small so you get 4 end pieces and max crispy goodness on each piece. Seating inside is small. Don't bring the crew. Best for take out. I tried pepperoni, cheese and extra cheese. I preferred the extra cheese pie. So good and the corners are so perfectly crispy and cheesy. It's too dangerous to have this yummy of a pizza so close to me.I'll say this, if you are a pizza fan, you owe it to yourself to try them once. You may get hooked for life.

This is my #1 favorite pizza, period. It is detroit style pizza that is like a rectangular pan pizza, but it is very light and airy, not heavy like others I have had. The edge is super crispy but not hard. The flavors are satisfying and they weren't stingy on toppings. I have been on the hunt for great pizza for years, across states and countries, and this is the best one and my absolute favorite.

If you're looking for very good authentic Detroit-style pizza, you've come to the right place. Fuji & Vi's is run by a lovely couple, and the restaurant is named after the owners' grandmothers. It's on the second floor of a plaza in Pasadena, on the other side of the street from CAR artisan chocolate (for you croissant connoisseurs), so it may be a little harder to find but they have a parking lot in the back of the building with an ample amount of spots. We ordered The Classic 4-square pizza at the front and waited about 15-20 minutes for the pizza to come out. Most people who came by got their pizza to-go that night and some ordered on the phone beforehand. They have a few tables and chairs inside for dine-in. It came out piping hot, and they gave us three shaker bottles of grated parmesan, oregano, and red chili flakes to pair with the pizza. The edges were nice and crispy from the cheese, and the middle was soft and chewy. The toppings were flavorful but well-balanced and not overly salty--a great classic pepperoni Detroit-style pizza in my book. I will definitely be back to try their other flavors in the future, especially one with pineapple because I am a pineapple on pizza lover.

Never a bad thing when one can get legit Detroit style pizza in Pasadena. Normally, my wife and I need to venture out south to get a great slice of pizza since LA does offer a variety from New York to Chicago. We placed an order over the phone. It did take several attempts to get someone on the phone. He promptly took our order - we decided on the 8 piece and went half and half, with Margherita and BBQ chicken. The Margherita was amazing. It dawned a whole slice of tomato on top with your essentials. Although thick, the dough was not dense and very soft. The crust was trimmed with crisped cheese and everything was in harmony. The BBQ chicken was good but the Margherita stole the show. I am very selective with BBQ sauce but this was just the right amount of tang and sweet. We live around the corner and will make this place a regular. Really glad to see shops like this open, as it begins a new chapter for others and the owners who work so hard, to bring great food to the neighborhood.

We called and ordered a 1/2 classic and 1/2 Biggio in the 8 square to go. They said 25 mins. Was ready when we came to pick up. Nice and hot until we got home. It's On the 2nd floor. You could eat there but looked like most people were picking up. I think there's a parking lot at the back. This pizza was delicious!! The crust was the Right blend of doughy and crispy. The tomato sauce and the cheese....yummy. Two squares are very filling. A 4 square is enough for two people. My new go to pizza place I think.

Solid Detroit-style pizza joint in Pasadena. Ordered through one of the delivery services, so I didn't get to see the actual shop. If you haven't had Detroit-style pizza, it's basically a rectangular pan pizza with a thick crust. Ordered the following:- Cheese 4 slice pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushroom - 7.5/10: very good and filling. Loaded with pizza sauce (maybe more than the cheese). Crust is thick as expected. The four slices are more than enough for one, I'd say.Would definitely come back and recommend, especially if you're bored of the standard thin crust type of pizza.

How has nobody posted about this place! I'm sitting here in the parking lot scarfing down these slices! 4 square or 8 squares. The 8 squares, you can do 1/2 & 1/2. I got spicy Italian and margherita. Try the margherita first cuz that spicy Italian is gonna kick your taste buds! I'm sweating from the Calabrian chili sauce! The crust is crispy and crunchy! I need to go back and try the other specialty pies! Small place upstairs. Three tables that seatsfour. The owner is so nice and helpful. I wanted to try the margherita. That is my go to. He helped me decide the other half! No regrets! He says he's been at this place a little over a year! GO SUPPORT THIS GUY!!! Detroit style pizza so close to home!!!!!!!!!!Parking lot in the back!!!

So so so good! I've been in this plaza so many times but never noticed this small business. Free parking lot in the back, and walk to the second floor. It really is a sweet mom and pop shop with the kindest workers! I got a 4sq ham/pineapple and it was enough for 2 people. I loved the thick, crispy, cheesy crusts and you can taste the quality in their ingredients. I also like that they don't have pizzas with a bunch of random flavors/combos and rather they do an excellent job on the classic flavors. It's small inside but has a good amount of seating! Can't wait to introduce my friends to this place and to try new flavors! 11/10 highly recommend

YUM!!! Head to the 2nd floor. Loved the pizza! 2nd time trying Detroit style and enjoyed the flavors and execution immensely. We had 1/2 bbq chicken and 1/2 margherita. Very nice owners and highly recommend!Found parking on the street and learned there's a parking lot out back.

As someone who doesn't really like Detroit-style pizza, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Fuji and Vi's. This pizza spot is tucked away on the second floor of small, discreet plaza near Old Town Pasadena so it can be hard to find as you're walking by. The edges of their pizzas are beautifully crisped and lacy from the melted cheese so each bite comes with a nice crunch to it. The crust is light and airy as any good pizza dough should be. Plus, it's never overly greasy, which can be an annoying factor whenever you opt to get pizza. The wait time is fair (~10-15 minutes) so keep that in mind if you choose to order in-person. But that's definitely a good sign because you know that taht means your pizza is coming out fresh. If you prefer a cozy setting, the interior offers the usual small pizzeria-style setting. Although, it's nothing special so I usually opt for takeout and enjoy my meal at home. Even after the 15-20 minute drive home, the pizza still maintains its structure really well (no sogginess, staleness, or loss of heat).Over my visits, I've had the chance to try three of their flavors. Let's start with the basic cheese pizza with pizza sauce. This is definitely my go-to choice. It strikes a good balance between salty and acidic and really hits the flavor notes of what a great pizza slice should be, but with a thicker crust and texture.Next up is the Spicy Italian. This particular flavor is similar to the cheese pizza, but comes with a sweeter and spicier profile. The spice level is fairly tame, making it a great option for those who like a sweeter pizza at the expense of a little heat. While the first two flavors were great, the BBQ Chicken fell a bit short of expectations. Although the bread is good as usual, the BBQ sauce and chicken don't really set themselves apart like the other flavors do. Nevertheless, it's still a decent choice if you're craving that type of pizza.Lastly, parking is usually available right in front of the restaurant, so that's really convenient. You can park, order, and leave super easily. Fuji & Vi's hasn't completely won me over to liking Detroit-style pizza, but it has won me over as the only Detroit-style pizza spot I'll order from.

First time customer. Had slight issues locating business initially, small dine in but if it's awesome pizza you're after, this is the place. I've a pizza connoisseur, eating my way across the US and overseas and prefer standard NY crust, but this... ah man was incredible. The side crust from the cheese, consistent flavor and evenness of the sauce was to die for. The pizza bread was heavenly, not over taxing most deep dish/pan (like Chicago style) takes on the jaw. The side of Caesar salad was a refreshing pairing to every other bite of of pizza. This pizza is definitely a winner and I'm making my drive back again soon from South OC. A long drive but well worth the long drive thru traffic.
