Our biggest disappointment at Smorgasburg.. Overpriced and not very good at all! Frankly, Sunny Blue is way better! Won't be making that mistake again.

I love the concept and how photogenic they made the onigiris & musubi. However I do think that the flavor was lacking, it was sadly very bland. :( One thing to keep in mind about this place is that the wait is unfortunately on the longer side, not sure where in the process there is a bottle neck, but fixing the bottle neck should make the wait shorter. I like that they coated the outside of the onigiris with furikake to give it some flavor, but I think they should've mixed some salt into the rice to give it flavor in addition to coating the outside with furikake. Once you eat the outer layer of rice covered in furikake, you sometimes have a few bites with a lot of rice & little filling, so it just tastes meh -- especially since there's not a ton of filling either. The musubi itself is not bad though since the piece of spam is naturally quite salty, but I think once some improvements are made, it should be good. :)Best thing about onigiris & musubis though, you can walk and eat without any issues! No utensils needed and it's relatively mess freee.

Musubi are pretty good but too pricy for what they are supposed to be. A snack on the go.Mushy raw spam no good. The Spam is not seared and it needs to be seared, fried browned… whatever way you want to call it. Sometimes the Spam is soaked in teriyaki after browning before assembling the musubi. Never the Less spam needs a hot searing so the flavor stands out more and the texture isn't mushy! The spicy tuna was good … a little small for the price. Hope you can make some improvements…Great customer service. Aloha ?

I loved my musubi's when I'd get them at the farmer's market, but the ones that I picked up from their storefront in Pasadena were just okay. The seaweed was so rubbery and chewy that I couldn't even bite through it. I'll try it again perhaps, but not from this location.

Service sucked. Food is good Service Review: Waited about 30 minutes for my order to get prepared and when I got it it was the wrong food. Literally stapled to the bag was my correct order which was three sandwiches. Before I realized the mistake I took it back to the car and I opened it up. It was a chicken rice bowl and the wrong sandwich. I came back thinking they just gave out the wrong food and will give me the correct order right away just to hear they made they didn't even make my food and had to remake my order killing another 15 minutes. Food review: I ordered three musubi sandos. I got the crab, spicy tuna, and spam. The crab sando very tasty. It was imitation crab, and avocado which was solid, very good. Spicy tuna lacked flavor and spice. It was sriracha and canned tuna between rice and wrapped in seaweed. Was good just not very exciting I suggest trying other sandos. Lastly the classical spam musubi sando was also very good. It's exactly was you'd expect, not lacking in flavor and great balance between the spam, sauce, and rice. Food was decent TLDR; They messed up my order and wasted like 45 mins to get 3 sandwiches that were good but not 45 min wait good.

I will be honest. Pre-mama musubi sandos, I LOVED MAMA MUSUBI. My favorite was the mama special rice ball. Unfortunately they changed their entire menu and no longer offer rice balls but rather musubi sandos? I got to try out the sandos at smorg in la. It's unfortunate because mama musubi's branding is all around rice balls. Their new flavors aren't good compared to what they had. They also look bland compared to the rice balls. I feel like they did this to cut costs as it does look the sandos are easier to make and contains less frills than when they did the rice balls. The new menu came during covid so that's probably the reason, but it's unfortunate because mama musubi was always my go to whenever they were at food places (626 night market, smorg, kitchen united). But the food now is really the quality you can get at supermarkets. Hopefully they bring back the original menu!

Aww I was very disappointed. The seaweed is very chewy for some reason. And the spam should be cooked a bit more. Very American tasting Musubi. No flavor.

Let's start by saying the masubi sandwiches are pretty good. I've had all of them and they are all flavorful and a nice meal to have. The minus here would be the price for what you get. I really dislike when people bash a place for having too high prices, especially in todays climate (food cost is sky high, restaurants gotta make money, of course). That being said, I was actually fine with the pricing until today when I received masubi sandwiches that shrunk significantly in size. Even with the larger size before, I could understand why alot of the reviews here gripe about the price, but I figured it was just the inflated price of everything now. But the current smaller size is just plain ridiculous! I hope the ownership reads these kinds of reviews and really considers bringing back the previous size of the sandwiches bc this is really not cool. No one would find this experience positive if the portions are so small.

Located in Kitchen United Mix and delicious! I love Mama Musubi and I'm so happy they're available here in addition to Smorgasburg. Musubi here is basically a sandwich of rice that's wrapped in nori (seaweed) and filled with a thin layer of something. The salmon yuzu is my favorite. Note that the insides are cooked here. Spam is another popular choice. Good pricing, decent parking options in the local area. Not a place where you can stop and enjoy your meal, but you can order in avance online or on the iPads that are onsite and wait for your food. Quick spot to grab and go.
