Shandong Dumplings is now closed permanently. Tried to go there for dinner tonight, but they had a sign in the window saying that the pandemic did them in. They are still selling dumplings to individuals who want them if you call a number that is posted in the window. (Sorry I don't have it.)

Dumplings were good but the restaurant itself is very shabby and needs a complete update. Not a pleasant dining experience

So delicious!!! Went to return something at UO and decided to Yelp some dumplings. This place popped up. Did not disappoint!!! Got the vegetarian dumplings and the shrimp dumplings! Mouth watering as I type this. I rarely end up in Pasadena, but this place gave me a reason to go more often! chef kisses

Not the best dumplings ive had nor they were bad. Had the "juicy spicy pork" and lamb dumplings for takeout. The tops of the dumplings were a little hard and the inside a little watery. did not leave a good after taste. Came with one small side of chili which was half full. But the chilli oil was good with a nutty flavor.

THERE IS NO OTHER DUMPLING PLACE LIKE THIS.These dumplings are hands down the best on earth. Godly honestly. I have eaten a sickening number of dumplings from this place on countless number of occasions and i can't get enough. They sell dumplings in bulk. Check. They will sell you dumplings frozen. Check. Their sauces are perfect. CHECK. The only down side is there is only one shandong dumpling and it is in pasadena california. What i would give for some shandong in baltimore. Only thing i miss about LA!

It's pleasantly surprising to find this truly authentic Chinese dumpling house right here in the middle of old Pasadena. It's as if they took the recipe and crew from Northern China and brought them here. This is not your westernized Panda Inn or PF Chang, this is REAL Chinese food made fresh to order, amazingly good.

Didn’t plan to come here just decided to try it out as I was passing by. Ordered the veggie dumplings. The filling was fresh and the dough wasn’t chewy. Definitely coming back again to try the other dumplings.

Overpriced for what you get but the service was good. The server helped us with the menu, and was very friendly, and helpful. Dumplings were whatever.

this is a COVID19 update. the telephone number you call to place orders goes to a lady who is NOT situated in the restaurant (she speaks English whereas the restaurant workers do not). the past 3-4x i've ordered, she's taken my order, told me pick-up will be in 30 min, and then called me back in like 10-15 min to tell me that "sorry we're sold out of X." this is annoying, and a complete waste of time. this morning, i placed my order at 11am when the restaurant opened so i could get everything i wanted. 30 min later, i sent my husband down to the restaurant to pick up our lunch. turns out, the restaurant never got our order--the lady never transmitted it. i called the number listed on YELP (626-578-9777) again to ask the lady what was going on; she sounded surprised, told me to hold while she called the restaurant, and then hung up on me. since he's there, i've asked my husband to just place another order in-person, and wait there for the food. he begrudgingly did so, but told me that he will not be supporting this business further. i hate to agree b/c i like their food, but he's right. the COVID19 service here is truly horrible.

An interesting little place almost tucked away out of view, Shandong Dumpling has some very tasty food if you know to look out for it. COVID restrictions mean that there is no eating inside the restaurant, but there is a single table outside for dine in customers, meaning you might dine in if you get lucky! But otherwise take-out is still available. We got the shredded spicy potatoes, some fish dumplings, and an order of their spicy noodles. The potatoes and fish dumplings were very tasty, but the spicy noodles were the star of the show. If you do get the potatoes, do be aware of what you are ordering! The potatoes are meant to be served a bit on the raw/crunchy side and the sauce is spicy and sour so it is definitely surprising if you aren't expecting that! The dumplings are exactly what you'd expect, though, and are very tasty with the spicy sauce they serve on the side. The noodles deserve their own paragraph. The noodles themselves are stretchy and chewy and a textural treat. The sauce, like everything else we ordered, is a bit spicy and sour, but tasty as heck. Served with a heathy portion of green onions and cilantro. So good. Parking is as parking normally is in this part of Pasadena: that is to say pretty terrible. Plan on spending a bit looking for parking or getting a ride here!

CAUTION and ATTENTION:I live in Santa Clarita and drive to Pasadena to pick this up! Keep this in mind. I will drive any distance for good food with quality service. I understand the Covid pandemic is still alive and well, so this is why I'm confused why my experience happened. I've eaten here for the past five years as dine in and take out, and never had a single complaint. Today I ordered $65 worth of food and this is what I get (look at photos). Total disappointment. What I ordered vs. what I got:-Mustard green vegetable with rice cakes (turned out to be ALL rice cakes and maybe one piece of over cooked mustard green chopped up total. Take a look yourself :( )- Egg, shrimp leek pie. I didn't even get this item! Nice lady who did apologize said she/they "forgot". - Pork and shrimp leek dumpling (This was good! Thank goodness something is right.)-scallion pancake (look at photo. Not a single scallion)-Beef chili oil mixed noodles (I didn't get any beef. Not even a piece. Only noodles) -beef fried rice (yummy)When I placed my order over the phone, the lady even repeated my six items verbally back to me. It was correct. I was not offered my credit card receipt either when I paid inside the restaurant. I typically decline a paper receipt to save paper, so I didn't mention it. Now I wish I did in case they charge me for the item I never received. My advice to management or owner: Please double check your take out orders. This is not okay and very disappointing. In times like this during a pandemic, service should be even better to show appreciation to your customers. I own a take out restaurant in Santa Clarita so I understand the value of service and appreciation for customers during this pandemic. The food was tasty as always, though it wasn't everything I ordered and an item was missing. If I order a vegetable dish, I want the vegetables. I didn't order a rice cake dish, I ordered a mustard green dish. This isn't okay and not professional. It's deceiving. If I order a scallion pancake, I'd expect scallions in the pancake. Makes sense to me at least. Food remains 5/5Service for gentleman at cash register 1/5. 1 point for being friendly, but -4 for being lackadaisical and not providing quality service by double checking ordersNice lady Ashley 5/5 for listening to my concerns
