Star Leaf is a new Asian (Thai) fusion restaurant in Pasadena, California. The restaurant is nicely design with comfortable seating. I visited them on a Thursday evening. The hostess was friendly. Tonia, the waitress had a warm smile and very attentive. I started with a Lychee Martini which was ok. The cocktail Kamata Club Blue had a very nice presentation. The Wild Salmon in Thai Vinaigrette was a refreshing appetizer. I also had the Thai Royal Curry with Soft Shell Crabs and Madame Noi’s Pork Collar. For dessert, I finished with Tropical Panna Cotta Coconut Bowl. I enjoyed the dinner. I have one more good restaurant on my dining list.

The food here is incredible! Everything was fresh & the menu has a lot of interesting items. I highly recommend all of the seafood dishes. The restaurant is gorgeous & has lots of attention to detail & the staff attentive & friendly. It really doesn’t taste like anything else that’s in the area. I look forward to coming back!

However, we were a bit let down by the flavor and quality of the dishes. We noticed that other places offer similar fare at half the price, and they do it tastier. Just some food for thought.

I generally never write reviews, but I thought I'd share my own personal experience of Star Leaf.First off, I'll start out with the things I liked. The decor was pretty nice; it definitely gave me an upscale vibe. Food and drink plating was nicely done. I especially liked their design of the drink I ordered (Kamata Club Blues). The food itself was pretty good, but not worth the price.Now the bad. Initially, the service was good, but as the night went on, it kept getting worse and worse. Our first server was real friendly at first, but by the last half of the night, it felt like he was avoiding us. They even sent out a different person to take our dessert order for some reason. Other than being friendly, service was basically nonexistent. For example, it took a long time for them to refill the water. There might be their own reasons for this (too busy,etc.), but I digress.Now for the worst part. They messed up our order multiple times. We ordered the salad with steak, but they only gave us the salad (they eventually gave us an extra order of salad with steak). Next, we ordered the lobster curry but they gave us the soft shell crab curry instead. We also ordered the 12 hour braised short ribs, but they never gave it to us. If they didn't have it or forgot, they should have at least notified us. The server tried to rectify the situation by offering complimentary dessert, to which we accepted. However...When it came time for the receipt, we were overcharged by over $250 dollars. First off, we were charged 5 shots of patron, which we never ordered. Additionally, they charged us for the food we never received. Also, they not only charged us for the dessert, but they added an extra one (we only had one). Eventually we were able to talk to the server and get the cost down to the correct amount, but it just seems like there was just some disconnect. Side comment: we were celebrating my friends birthday, but I guess there was no special celebration or anything at the restaurant? (Just a little nitpick cherry on top of this bad, fine dining experience).Your experience might be different from mine and I genuinely hope it is. Will I ever go back? Maybe, but probably not anytime soon.

Thoroughly impressed by this restaurant! Firstly, the interior is stunning. Classy, but still comfortable. The meal was delicious with the Thai Royal Curry with Soft Shell Crab as a favorite of the night. Portions are on the generous side. The service at this restaurant was top-notch. Our server, Thaniya, was amazing, as were the other staffs that were involved throughout our dinner. Excited to come back for more!

If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience with an Asian cuisine, then look no further. Not only is the space stunning but the food was superb. The fried tofu, spring rolls, short rib and lobster in curry sauce blew me away and kept me wanting more. These were standout items for our group. Everything was well thought out with the most high quality ingredients. This will definitely be a go-to for me. A true neighborhood gem!
