This is the coffee bar inside Whole Foods (it took me a minute to figure it out but WFM = Whole Foods Market). Anyway, I've only had one espresso drink here and it was very average, probably Starbucks-grade, so if that's your jam, you might like the coffee here. But there's definitely no one here curling a mustache and deconstructing the composition of crema. I'm not too sure why anyone would come here for coffee, aside from maybe they were getting groceries in the morning and wanted to buy coffee in the grocery store? Honestly I'd just go down the street to Jones (or even the aforementioned Starbucks). But the real reason I'm even leaving this review is the 75-cent upcharge on non-dairy milk. What???? I know this is common practice, but it's Whole Foods... the whole ethos is eating well, nurturing ourselves and the planet, etc etc. Why then does Jeff Bezos need my 75 cents when I chose oat milk in place of cow's milk? Have they seen how milk cows are treated? And what if I'm lactose intolerant? What a silly, silly upcharge. You can do better Whole Foods.

Amazon is destroying Whole Foods. When this "flagship" store first opened it was bright and cheerful and full of fresh colorful produce. The staff was friendly and helpful. Over the past year the produce has declined severely and it's very obvious that, of the staff who have not left, it's an unpleasant place to work. Today I was unable to buy basic staples, including broccoli, celery, cauliflower, red chard, and collard greens because they were rubbery, yellow, brown and rotten, or simply "unavailable." I vented to an assistant produce manager named Lydia and she just sneered at me. It's a shame. Thank goodness we have good farmer's markets in the area - I go weekly to South Pas. I'm waiting for Erewhon to open so that I never have to walk into this Whole Foods store again.
