Excellent and high quality wines. Restaurant food, especially the mushroom dish, was excellent and we'll prepared. Thanks

Comfortably and stylishly decorated accommodations adjacent to the vineyards. Beautiful daytime vistas and star-filled nighttime views. Easy walk to the tasting room and restaurant. The HR hospitality team is exceptional.

This is going to be a hard review to leave because I have never left a 1 star review. There were so many failures from the staff on our visit that I feel I must say something. There were 6 of us in our party and we drove past Halter Ranch on the way to a nearby winery. The grounds and venue looked amazing and since we noticed they also had a restaurant, we decided to call in to see if we could get reservations for a tasting for 6 as well as get something to eat. Whoever answered the phone was friendly and told us that no reservations were needed and that we could just walk in when we were done at our nearby tasting. When we showed up at 3:25, the hostess seemed annoyed when we didn't have a reservation and when we said we also wanted to eat, she really got annoyed and said she'd have to go ask the kitchen for permission to seat us as the kitchen closed at 3:30, in 5 minutes. She finally returned and not in a very happy tone told us that the kitchen would serve us but we had to hurry up and order. It was all very awkward and put most of us off as only 1 person in our party actually ordered a wine tasting. I was feeling so much like no one wanted us to even be there that I just wanted to eat and get the heck out.The food was good and I asked the one person who had a tasting how the wine was and she said it was "so so". The server seemed in such a hurry that she never made a connection with anyone and hurriedly described the wine she was pouring. All of the staff just seemed annoyed. Now for the worst part. The bill came and as our group of friends usually do, we asked just to split the bill 3 ways evenly. The server came to each of us and checked us out with her tablet and we each clicked the button to tip 20%. When the last guy had finished the transaction, he hesitated a bit and asked her if he could see the bill again. What he discovered was that they way she checked us out was that we all tipped 20% on the entire bill and not our individual 3 way split. This amounted to a huge tip of 60% of the total. When called out on this oversight, the server blamed it on the "new system", and said she'd have to go into the office and have the manager refund the bill and she would come back and run all of the cards again. It took about 15 minutes for her to come back and we all just sat there in silence feeling very abused by the entire situation. I would wager a bet that many parties split the bill as we do and this "mistake" probably happens many times a day.As we were walking out at 4:30 I noticed the hostess turning away another older couple that wanted a tasting saying " we close in 30 minutes and there is not enough time to have a tasting. The staff just seemed annoyed to be actually working and they all acted like they just wanted to close.Overall, this was a disaster and none of us would ever go back.

We had a bad experience here. We arrived early for our 2pm reservation. We were sat at 2:15 and didn’t even have enough time to do a tasting, since we had a driver and were on a timetable to leave at 3pm. I told the hostess that we had to leave at 3 and she rudely just said well the table isn’t ready, rather than any apology. Got bottles instead. Ordered 2 small plates and at 2:45 they hadn’t even started them so we cancelled. This is as my birthday trip and a complete disappointment.

The product was on par. The service and attention to our table was very underpar. We were sat outside on the patio and you were not greeted for over 10 minutes. Finally we received attention by Tamara. She was very nice but little bit frustrated that your support staff in the kitchen in front of house were not supportive. It’s not a place I would recommend Again.

Halter Ranch has beautiful grounds and great wine. I have been a member for the last 2 years. We went tasting with a group of friends for the weekend. Tamara was our waitress. She was not welcoming and it seemed as though she did not want to be there. When she brought me the bill she told me that I have not paid for my membership as though as I was late. I told her it does not get billed for another 4 days. She had mentioned this in front of everyone at the table, which was embarrassing. It was the first time one of the couples in our group had been to Paso Robles. I was excited to show them Halter Ranch since it’s one of my favorites. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing.

A group of us enjoyed the winery and cave tour led by Timothy in January. It was such a special and memorable experience. Timothy is so knowledgeable and shared such interesting aspects of the property, the wine and the process with us. The facility is immaculate, the views are spectacular, the art is unique and the wine is wonderful. A huge credit to the wonderful staff at Halter for their hospitality, Kevin Sass the winemaker for his skill and meticulous process and Mr. Wyss, the owner, for his vision for philanthropy and conservation. I highly recommend this experience to anyone.

This was our first time visiting Halter Ranch. Although we are locals, it took an out of town visitor to coax us into going. The service, the wines and the location were all top notch. Liam was super helpful and knowledgeable. We will definitely recommend Halter Ranch to all of our family and friends.
