Three years after my first visit (and subsequent review) I still think this winery is worthy of every single one of its five stars. First and foremost, you'll definitely want to call ahead. They have extremely limited tasting hours, so just do yourself a favor and call or email Judy. Also note, that if it's getting close to the end of the season July to Harvest, you'll likely find many of the wines sold out. The extremely limited production of Starr Ranch Wines makes the wine club worth it! Don't miss out on the dried persimmons. Not a fan of persimmons? It doesn't matter! These things are like fruit leather goodness. And she grows them right on the property! Our group was lucky to get the last bags! Of course, the star of the Starr ranch is Judy. She is extremely hospitable and an absolute joy to be around.

Great single grape and well blended wines mix in an intimate experience with the owner and wine maker. A peaceful setting conducive to drifting off in the moment offered by this great boutique winery tucked into a little valley west of Paso Robles. One cannot go wrong tasting and taking home some of the fine wines severed by the charming hosts. You will not be sorry you stopped bye.
