Pricey, but good quality for everything we ordered. Love the ahi salad and turnip fries a lot. Their burgers, fish n chips are also above average in quality, ... also in price :)

It seems like the atmosphere would change based upon what you look like. The server wasnt really hospitable, however the female bartender had excellent service. I had the salmon with asparagus and a roce cake. Delicious!! I wish i remembered which drinks i had but both were great, not watered down and you can tell the bartender takes her craft seriously.

As always, the food and service was amazing. I ordered the blackened prawn tacos, which came out with tostada-like shells rather than taco (more pliable) shells. When the server asked how our meal was and I mentioned it, they immediately brought out new taco shells. Not a big deal, but goes to show how amazing their service is. And the food is always so good.

Best restaurant in Pville. I've never had a bad experience or meal at The Independent.

1 of 2 restaurants in Pville worth your time and money...if you know good food and good service. If you want a whiskey cocktail and a steak, this is the place. Best make a reservation cause they get busy at obvious times. I eat here often and have never had a bad experience. For the brokies out there, stay in your lane, you get what you pay for. Beware of the cocktails, they are usually very stiff, but good. Alcoholics might disagree with me.

My husband and I stopped in around 4 p.m., (Friday) and they were already booked with reservations. But the gentleman up front tried his best to squeeze us in, and he did!! And he did gladly!! So nice and friendly. The bar was packed. We ordered the filet mignon and beef stroganoff.DELICIOUS!!It was very tender meat, and the sides were yummy. The pasta is very good.I will have to try the bread pudding next time. As it's my favorite, I was very full this time.

Very nice lunch. Everyone liked their choices. Everything came hot and tasting good. I appreciated the awareness of the two birthdays we were celebrating. Excellent service throughout our stay. Look forward to returning.

Wedding anniversary dinner! Filet was cooked perfectly. Both me and my wife cleaned our plates. The server was always on top of the drinks. Can't wait to come back.Parking: Depends on the time of day. Later the better. Weekends are always busy.

Service is always great. Ahi Niçoise salad was the best Niçoise salad I've ever had. Calamari appetizer was enjoyed by whole table - but only chosen because they were out of their famous turnip fries. Others in party both had salmon entree. Bread pudding for dessert was enough to share, but the affogato is really the number one choice if you like espresso!

The Independent Restaurant, Placerville, CA, February 10, 2024 After a full afternoon of celebrating an early "Valentines Day" wine tasting event at Nello Olivo Winery in Camino, we stopped in around 5 pm for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but we were lucky enough to get the last indoor table. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a medium-sized bar. The outdoor seating is covered and they have patio heaters and an outdoor fireplace, but it was starting to cool off outside, so sitting indoors was my preferred choice. Outside probably would have worked too. The inside part of the restaurant is warm and cozy for the most part. They have tables for 2, 4, and 6 people. The bar area was pretty packed, but the acoustics of the place are pretty good and it wasn't too noisy. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and answered all our questions. We ordered a glass of Trefethen Chardonnay, which we split, and we split the salmon with roasted Brussel sprouts and butternut squash. The meal came with a vinaigrette salad that included butternut squash and bacon crumbles. It was flavorful. The salmon was nicely cooked and came in a tasty creamy lemon caper butter sauce. There was a split charge, which I was happy to pay because everything came out on separate plates and the portions were perfect. We got the chocolate pot de crème for desert with a couple glasses of port. Perfect way to cap off the meal!
