I grew up in San Francisco eating at places like this my whole life, and this place is as good as anywhere I've been. I'm so glad this place is here now!
I tried it again after a few months and the food was even worse than before! It was rated three stars before, but now it's not even worth one star. The food I bought today is basically inedible! a few months ago , I gave a “3” stars, but today’s food was very bad! I can’t eat! If other restaurants are open, don’t come here! Very sad experience for today’s food!

The restaurant’s staff has a very bad altitude to their customers! I called them saying they gave me the wrong items and they kept complaining that I didn’t verify the order immediately. They didn’t treat my complaints properly.

The roast duck is amazing here. Best I've had in US - comparable to roast goose from Guangdong. Skin is fatty and flavorful. Meat is tender. I'm coming back!

Peking duck taste good, porridge/congee from make it 2 course not very good. IT's option to upgrade from half Peking to make course 2 for extra $2. The debone add it to your congee but all the bone and fat was added to congee it's not very pleasant. Half Peking after debone didn't like like half duck.

I ordered the 2 BBQ rice plate - pork belly and white chicken. The dining area of the restaurant is permanently closed now, so it's all to go only. It wasn't until I left and opened my box was it half pork and half soy sauce chicken. The wrong chicken. And to make matters worse, it wasn't half and half, but a 1/3 pork belly and 2/3 soy sauce chicken. They also don't take credit cards for orders under $25.And they charge $0.50 for a cup of water. Horrible service! Not worth the $20 for the food!

Nothing too spectacular here. I have tried the hainan chicken over rice and have also ordered whole to take home. The combo was just ok. Basically you would fill up from the rice that comes with the combo. Not so much from the chicken itself. The whole chicken I ordered was pretty good. I just need to remember to ask for 2 of the dipping sauce as 1 is not enough for a whole order. I have also ordered the Peking duck. It is good but the one I got just was not so meaty. The price to quantity ratio was not there. However this is in the newer shopping center across the outlets in Livermore so the pricing is what you would expect for the area. The quality of the bbq is is not far from what you could buy at the market next door. You could even save a couple bucks by doing so. Also they are currently take out only.

My first time here....taste was decent , but I think they scam you when you have them cut. Came out WAY SMALLER and not proportional. Bought 1 whole roast duck, 1 whole chicken, and 1 lb bbq pork. They dont match up. If this is the case, SHAME ON THEM. BAD business practice.

This is no way a full duck. It looks like at least 1/3 duck was missing. Totally disappointed. A full duck cost $38 ( with tax) . I will definitely go back to complain if I live a lot closer. This is not a honest vendor. Make sure you all open and check your order before leaving ) (The order came with 1/4 of its head. I was too angry and took it out to made soup before I remember to take pictures, and it didn't come with any neck portion either )
Highly recommend BBQ Pork and Peking duck, very delicious!

I wish I could give them no star or negative 5 stars!!! Horrible customer service!!!! The man who served us must be the owner of this place! I don’t mind if he doesn’t have a pleasant expression on his face but his attitude was not acceptable!!! We tried to pick the duck we wanted and he said, “ No picking duck!” We were ok with that at first. After couple minutes he handed us the duck in the box. We were wondering where that duck came from???? We didn’t hear the chopping sound and we didn’t see any ducks was being taken down from the rod where they hanged all the ducks! We felt that we were being taken advantage of! The duck was really light in weight too! We were skeptical and asked him why he didn’t give us one of those that was displayed on the window! He then said that we didn’t have to buy it!!! We decided to return it and never come back again no matter how good the freaking duck is!!! These people have to understand that they are running a business in the US⋯⋯NOT CHINA!! Don’t be rude!!! ???

Delicious Chinese bbq.Good quality Chinese bbq. By far some of the more tender Chinese bbq meats. The other dishes are yummy too, like the wonton noodles or their congee. We have ordered the five combo platter two days in a row now, which includes hainan chicken, roasted bbq pork, crispy skin pork, roasted duck, and I believe either roasted chicken or another type of pork. Pretty juicy. I will say it's a bit more on the oily side but it's not any more oily than any other roast duck or Chinese bbq place. One of the better Chinese bbq place in the area! This place does get pretty busy though and they're still only for takeout only at the moment. We try to go right when they open or not during peak rush hours.

S&J BBQ as most Chinese restaurants. They have good food, but not too good of service. I always see a line in front of S&J BBQ whenever I'm there. Customers either wait for a table or wait for the to-go orders. I like their Chinese BBQ items, i.e., roasted duck, BBQ pork, and roasted pork belly. But the other items are just okay if you're starving! The indoor dining area is pretty good. It is shared with all the restaurants there. You can also choose their outdoor dining if the weather is good. The parking lot is pretty big and shared with all the businesses in the shipping center. I have no problem getting parking most of the time except for the major holidays.
