For over 25 years SOZO has been our favorite sushi place. The food is excellent and the selection is considerable. Service is with a great staff. O matter your in a table, booth or sushi bar, you get great food and a wonderful meal. Took Family to Sozo for Dinner during our annual Christmas Lights Night. With a party of 10, ran our waitress a lil Looney but she hung in with a semi-decent attitude.Miso Soup and Apps (Gyoza & Tempura) were EXCELLENT. My special Spicy Tuna roll was very tasty, the Spicy Hamachi handroll was EVEN BETTER.Sadly my wifes scallop topped roll came with some weird mayo sauce that made it nearly inedible -- but that was the only notch in an otherwise solid sushi dinner!DEFINITELY RECOMMEND SOZO!
I came here with my middle child for a mommy and daughter date. She loved the food and told me it's so delicious so many times while eating. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The portion was huge. The atmosphere was very family friendly, clean and bright. The service was amazing! I'll definitely come back with my whole family.

Waited 20 minutes in an empty restaurant while staff talked in back of the restaurant.Prices: Not worth what we paid, paid almost $90 for dinner for two, I will spend half as much somewhere else next time and get twice the quality of food. Used to get etamine free with dinner, now 6.99. Soup used to be free as well as hot tea, no more. NO MORE FREE SOUP FOR YOU !Food Quality : Poor. I had chicken Katsu, chicken was old and possibly freezer burned, was rubbery. The waitress did compensate somewhat by giving us a teriyaki chicken dinner to go, but by then it didn't even sound good, as I had lost my appetite. What was weird is that when the cook cut the Katsu it was so tough that they couldn't cut it all the way through, as some pieces were stuck together. Wouldn't you think that would be the time they would take a closer look and ask themselves, "Would I want to eat this?". This used to be a special favorite place for us but no more. Only thing worthwhile to buy in the place is the 49er Roll. Delicious but they'll probably find a way to mess that up, too. Never again. Good bye. One last thing- maybe try playing some traditional Japanese music versus the loud pounding piano music.

Pretty good Japanese sushi restaurant in the Pleasanton area. The owners are really nice here. The various rolls and sashimi are good, though my family particularly likes the chirashi bowl here.

Sozo sushi will always hold a very special place in my heart since it was the first sushi place I went to EVER back in highschool 20+ yrs ago. First time I have had the avocado, tuna and mango combo too! Which I crave and always get when I visit back home.
