Egg Combo Eggs were runny and undercooked. Had to have them recook and then they cane back overcooked with burned edges. OJ taste like frozen not fresh as advertised. So I over paid for the OJ. The people were super nice though!

dinner was disgusting and un-eatable. I ordered biscuits gravy with 2 poached eggs. the eggs were mostly water. the biscuit was dried out and the grave looked like colored water and taste like water. my trash got fed and I did not.

I decided to have dinner at this restaurant during a recent overnight stay in Porterville. I thought the portions were quite generous and the prices were reasonable. Without being able to take advantage of leftovers, I ordered the "Little Less" pot roast dinner. It goes for $10.99. You can add a dinner salad to this meal for $3.49. I thought the meal was tasty and certainly more than enough food for me. The service was friendly and attentive.

I was not in mood to go out for dinner, so we just ordered takeout from here. In hindsight, we're glad we did as it was prom night in Porterville and they were really busy. I had the turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce and the soup of the day. The food was good, but too much for me and my husband had to help. My husband had a kids macaroni and cheese meal that came with a side of fruit and enjoyed it.

Okay I love black bear diner.. but I feel like the quality of the food has definitely gone down in the last couple years. When me and my boyfriend started coming here we loved it so much and this would be our date spot. Now we rarely go because we get disappointed 70% of the time. Something is always wrong with one of our orders but it's still edible. I just wish Black Bear would go back to how it was like 6 years ago.

Went for lunch today (to give this place a 2nd chance after a horrible breakfast earlier in the week)This place needs to close, its gone way down hill. . Horrible customer service. Food has gone down hill. Business must be bad, my daughter was offered a kids menu, only to have piss poor waiter (with the tone and form of a bouncer) tell her she couldn't order. Some people want simpler items and smaller portions. Go to Applebees, The General's Cafe or Dennys for nice employees, and superior food.

I'd give it zero stars if I could. The food just doesn't taste fresh. It's pretty gross and feels like a waste of money. I'd drive to Visalia to get breakfast before going to this place.

I have had nothing but great food until today. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and there was no cheese, no thousand island dressing and very little sauerkraut. In addition the meat was crispy like bacon and not soft.

It's a mixed bag for me. Some items rate a 2, others get a 4. Service the one time I dined in the restaurant was a 4. The first dinner I had was pot roast. The whole meal was disappointing.I can't remember the other dinner I ordered another time. One strange thing is their "lighter" selections. They're loaded with almost as many calories, quantity and cost as the regular meals. They need to remove or revamp that section. Breakfast is always good. There's one item that is super yummy - the sweet cream cakes. Those I'd rate a 5. They're pancakes, but larger and fluffier; more cake-like. You can go without butter, and definitely don't need syrup. They're that tasty on their own. The other very good item was cobbler. One order is definitely big enough for two. I've only had the berry flavor and was pleased both times I ordered this. I've gotten takeout 3 of 4 visits, and the one dine-in meal was pre-Covid, so we can't properly compare service. All I can say is, it was very slow service on a Sunday morning, but workers all seemed to be trying; none were rude or doing snail imitations. I'd like to see them truly cater more to the crowd that really does want a smaller meal, plus change some of the (non-sandwich) dinner dishes...less salt and fat, and more flavor from fresh seasonings. I will stick with Black Bear for breakfast. I'm thinking about those sweet cream cakes and am getting hungry now. Guess that's a good sign!
