We retired to high desert 6 years ago. This was our main place to eat and dance to some of the bands. Says temporarily closed. I clicked website link and it says grand reopening soon! I subscribed to the email. We go back down to visit our adult children but not usually spend the night. This week we were so checked the website. I subscribed to the email to see when it if/will reopen. I will post back if it does.

A fallen angel. There was a time when this place was regarded as an institution. That time has long passed. It makes me sad to say that the magic lamp is tired and old. The food is not very good. The service is usually good. The ambiance like the restaurant is dated. I would not go here under my own free will. If invited I would decline. And if given the option I would choose something else. I wish I could leave a glowing reviewing but that just wouldn't be accurate.

Sadly, the Magic Lamp Inn has closed their doors for good. What a historical place it is too...

Had made reservations far in advance of an Anniversary. Was looking forward to two specific menu items, Chateaubriand and table side Cherries Jubilee. Called maybe 9x during the week prior to the time and date for reservations. Went to recording. Used website and made online reservations. Got autobot acknowledgement. Tried following up with more phone calls. Just recording. So we took a chance and drove out only to find yellow tape across entry and notice of change of notice ownership liquor license notice posted. So....parties are not paying attention or just don't care. Fortunately our Plan B two blocks away was awesome and saved the day.

I was doing repairs on the stained glass windows. This place is huge. And super nice inside. There doing general maintenance and revamping. Won't be open for another 2 to 3 months. Excited to see it back in full force.

It had been many years since either my wife or I had been to Magic Lamp so we figured we should go back and see if it was still as good as we remembered. This is a bit of an old styled Rat Pack type of restaurant that is a bit on the pricey side but is top notch in both food and service. We decided to have a couple of martinis in the bar during happy hour and did some great people watching. Dinner was fantastic! We had the dinner for two: Roasted Center Cut Filet Mignon, served with Asparagus, Vegetables and Mashed Potatoes with Bordelaise and Bearnaise Sauce. Add to that a couple of glasses of very nice wine from which they had a very nice selection to choose from. For desert, Cherries Jubilee. On our way to leave we noticed a large crowd of people in the bar listening to the live music and dancing. Lots of older people dancing with younger ones. Very fun and entertaining to watch the crowd. A great meal and great experience in a classic old-style steak house and well worth visiting again, though next time we will stay for the dancing and people watching.

Never had a more juicy steak. As I took a bite a waterfall of excellent juiciness flowed into the basin that is my mouth. And I've never been able to find a steak like this since. This was the best filet mignon I'd ever tried and a good first time trying medium rare.

PERMANENTLY CLOSED!!What a sad Mothers Day as we had made reservations here and come to find out they have closed their doors. Their phone line disconnected and no notice on their door. We were not the only customers to find this out at the last minute.

Was planning on going there for lunch today to celebrate a birthday, but when my party & I arrived, they were closed. I called the number & a woman working from home picked up & said they were open all day until 10pm. The door was locked & no one was inside.

Maybe at one time this place was great! $10 wine glass is only less than half full!! The bathroom was disgusting and in general the entire place needs updating. Dinners are very expensive and the food is not really spectacular. The bartender has an attitude that is not great for restaurant service and not friendly!!

A extremely disappointing experience. We came to celebrate my Mother in laws 82 birthday, my father in law has passed and this was one of thier places they would go so we thought it would a great option for a celebration. First waiter had no idea what Wiskey was used in their old fashion and he told me Jack Daniel's, ummm no thank you and they had no blender to make a margarita, Actually had to get up and speak with the bar tender and it was actually served with 2giners. Host refilled two out of three of the diet cokes on table and had to get her attention to refill the 3rd 15 mins. later. After ordering food it took 1.5 hours for our food to arrive and before making it to our table, waiter stopped at two other tables to drop off Birthday cake. Food arrived cold, not even luke warm. All 6 dinners were cold. The restaurant was not busy there were 6 tables counting our table and that was it. We will never go back, extremely disappointing as we use to love the Magic Lamp.

We've dined at The Magic Lamp several times over the past few months. We love the food, the staff and the atmosphere. The French Onion soup is delicious as well as every other dish I've tried there. My favorite is the Lobster Ravioli. And be sure to try the Cheese Bread.
