We had dinner on Saturday about 6:00 PM. The place is small and was full but our waiter found us a table pretty quickly. Ambiance and decor was nice, service even better. We had the clam stew, shrimp, Caesar salads and crab cakes. All the food was tasty, especially the clam stew. We'll certainly be back to try the sea bass.

You enter the door under the oyster sign on state street, The adventure begins with a long narrow hallway with Spaulding bricks . You know already you're in for a surprise. Another door and you've arrived into another time. The 1880's. I envisioned a time of ladies in long lacy white dresses with Bussels and frilly white umbrellas, entering thru the open door off umbrella alley. I was drawn here because I love oysters. . They were delish. The agua chili soup like nothing I've ever had, both flavors and presentation. We got more than oysters. While a little pricey for us, I recommend it because it is an experience beyond my ability to describe.

Everything was awesome. The food was amazing. We tried so many items and were not disappointed. The service was great, too. Will be going back.

This feels like a hole in the wall hidden gem, though it’s in a very popular spot. Plenty of regulars and people having a great time. The food was exceptional.

This is probably the best spot in the IE for oysters. My wife took me here for my birthday and I wanted oysters but didn't want to drive to the coast. The service and ambiance was great. My wife had the sea bass, the way it was prepared and cooked was amazing. It was flaky and tender on the inside with a nice sear on the outside. The quality of the oysters were excellent. I like my oysters on the smaller side which seemed like all they had which was perfect. I had atleast 4 dozen. I would definitely go back.

The ambiance is perfection. The music was top tier. The staff was so friendly and interactive with everyone. I love how small and intimate this place is. Overall a great experience. Food was delicious and the memories with my girlfriends was fun. I'll definitely come back for a date night. Thanks ROC for a great evening!

We were told they don't accept reservations, so we arrived a little after opening for dinner. We had no idea how small it is inside because the few times we'd come by before they had been closed. The place was PACKED. The maitre'd was friendly, gave us each a beaded necklace, and asked if we'd like a drink, but didn't take down our names. He said the wait would be about 30-45 mins. Worried that he'd forget us among the large number of other people also waiting to get in, we stood by that door for nearly 90 mins. Personally, I wanted to leave, but my wife was willing to wait, so I stayed for her. We actually got hungry waiting and ended up ordering fried asparagus from Copehouse across the alley (they were delicious). If it were up to me I would've just gone there for dinner. When we were finally seated and able to relax the experience improved somewhat. The bartender was friendly, and the food arrived reasonably timely. Unfortunately they did not have any non-alcoholic options on the drink menu. That seemed like a missed opportunity. Mocktails or shrubs would be a good addition for teatotalers like us.The food was all pretty decent, though pricey. They were out of the soup, so I chose the sea bass as an expensive alternative. The oyster sampler was $48 and the oysters, while of decent quality, were VERY small. Tbh I didn't think the quality justified the cost, but we enjoyed the meal enough that I didn't leave unhappy. I just don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

Delightful hidden location. Amazing food. Very attentive wait staff. Very quaint interior. At first glance, it's a bar, and I would not have gone in for dinner. So glad we did. I've not had sea Bass that delicate and tasty. Loved the faro pairing.

So I had seen this place before and had always wanted to come back. With 2 dollar signs I knew it would be pricey but was looking forward to it.I will admit tonight was the night more because I was craving clam chowder than any other reason. On the way to ROC we looked up the reviews on the clam chowder. My first concern was it was called clam stew. Then I read Luke warm reviews of the soup and started to worry. Had I made a mistake?. Should I just go to a generic chain restaurant???I didn't and I'm so glad for it. The reviews were way off!First, there was only standing room. We took up standing at the bar along the wall and were immediately greeted by who would later be identified as the owner. I ordered us each an oyster shooter. [Now flashback to my childhood teen years I remember how slimey the oysters were. So my dad would add lemon, Tabasco and salt and we'd shoot those suckers down. When the oysters arrived the owner informed us to take the oyster in our mouths, chew at least FIVE times and then lick the glass and shoot the drink. I laughed. I said 5 times??? LolThe owner got very serious and said 5 times to get all the flavor. Crazy! But we did it. And to our amazement I chewed much more than 5 times. They were delicious and I wanted more. I had never had oysters like that. These were from Massachusetts. So a dozen oysters later I was still craving more. But I tried the clam stew and was very impressed. It's served with toast and you can dip it and enjoy it even more. We also got fried shrimp. They were large and served on a bed of grilled onions and jalapeño. It went so well together.I only had two complaints or things of note. Though I loved the soup and will have it again I would prefer less potato. That said it was packed with clams.Second the 80s music playing was perfect for the older crowd like me. But by 9 all the young kids were starting to take over and change the vibe. Get there about 7 so you enjoy the casual vibe.Either way I highly recommend this place.

Wow, wow, wow! First time here and the food was beyond expectations. Oyster appetizers are like nothing you have tried before. Alohambra mariscos are something worth driving miles for. As a well traveled food critic this place is off the radar and will soon be a place worth destination travel.
