My friends and I took a drive down to Redondo Beach for the day. We were a group of about 12 with no solid plans. We arrived at the pier at about 11am and took a stroll. Everything was pretty much closed we weren't sure where to go. There were very few places open and the places that were open had unreasonable wait times. We ran into El Baja Chef and the place had absolutely no wait. They also had a bar open to the street so we technically didn't even have to go in for drinks. We bought a round for the group and the bartender was very patient. We were obnoxious and weren't too sure what we wanted. There was 12 of us and 1 of her but she didn't seem to get irritated with us at all. She made a few michis and served a few beers with no issues at all. Shortly after we decided to take a seat and have lunch. The place is small, I mean tinyyyyy. We basically filled all there seating and left one open table. We ordered lunch; I had fish tacos and nachos. The food was authentic and home made. No canned beans so I was happy. We literally had to be there for at least 3-4 hours drinking and eating. The employees weren't rushing us out or giving us our checks to try to move us along. I admired that, the service was satisfactory and they really made me feel at home. This restaurant won't catch your eye, the place isn't anything special to look at but the people and the food are what make it. I really enjoyed my visit and will make my way back eventually.

Slow, disorganized service, chicken burrito was bland and only contains rice and refried beans with small fragments of real chicken, no taste and simply full of cheap starch. Any place in redondo is better than this dump.

Best family owned Mexican seafood around. Try the ceviche, shrimp burritos and fish tacos. Once you go you will come back.

We loved the place, should eat there if you are in the area. Must try the fried fish. Very affordable

Baja chef is a family owned business. Thee best authentic Mexican food out here in Redondo Beach. The mom is an excellent cook. The brothers maintain a clean place, great service, cold beer at great prices especially on draft. Tho, the draft isn't of a big selection they do keep the keg and glasses cold. I have them make me a special dish not on menu called Camarron Ala Diablo. It's a super hot dish of cooked shrimps in a kicked up devils sauce. To die for. While the shut down during covid we missed this place so much. Glad to see they survived and up n running. This is our go to place. Missed you Edgar and Manny.....c u soon. Tiki Joe's

Seeing some bad reviews here but I gotta say, my experience was great. Everyone was nice and their tacos, chips and modelos guaranteed a good day.

They had outdoor dining. We were just walking by and ran into this spot. We ordered micheladas, asada wet burrito and shrimp cocktail. The food was really good. We also enjoyed having our drinks over looking the parked boats.

Probably the best fish tacos I've even had in my life. I went there yesterday for the first time for lunch with my fiancé and let me tell you , it was absolutely amazing!!! He had the shrimp ceviche which was delicious and I had grilled fish tacos with some guacamole and chips .. so simple yet soooo sooo soo good. The salsa and chipotle sauce were excellent and full of flavor. On top of the excellent food, the service was great too! Our cashier/waitress was so nice and helpful and brought us everything we needed before we could even ask! The michelada we had was really good too :) ! Highly recommended, I'm telling all my friends and I'm going back before I head back to Nor Cal
