Chicos Grill Mexican • $
2000 Woodside Rd, Redwood City

“I saw this place on the side of Woodside Road and felt compelled to try it. Im guessing they are relatively new or maybe new to this location. The menu has a lot of more traditional Mexican food options - huaraches, sopes, etc. They also have a great meat selection with suadero, buche, cabeza, and more. The service is pretty fast despite there being a lot of people. From how they called out the orders it seems they run a very professional kitchen here.Food-wise everything was great. I really like trying the more atypical items versus tacos and burritos. The sopes in particular were really excellent, very crispy with lots of meat.Overall I really liked the place and it's a great addition to the local food scene. They take credit cards too, which is nice. Parking can be a little tough due to the location though.“

“It's costco! HOME OF THE 1.50 HOT DOG AND SODA You get what you expect , plus this one has a gas station! Please remember their pump hoses reach both sides of the vehicle so it doesn't matter which line you pick! The biggest beef I have with this location is their lot is super busy always and the 2 intersections - one with light and the other stop sign scramble are horrid. The light is so congested especially on weekends and after work and the stop sign is only 2 way stop for exiting traffic. The entering traffic does not stop and has right of way which people often forget. Honestly shocked to not see any collisions. Drive safely and slowly!“

“Haven't been in person yet, but delivery and pick up are great. Glad to have chance order from famous restaurants like Koi Palace and The Bird that could have been hours away, now I just order from DoorDash and get them at my door. Love it!“

“We absolutely love Local Kitchen in Palo Alto! Our go-to dishes are the buffalo wings, Detroit pizza, chips, salsa, and the Smack Burger. We also highly recommend the poke bowl. The variety of food options is fantastic, and everything we've tried has been delicious.“

Little Sky Bakery | Los Altos Bakery •
170 State St, Los Altos - 9.81 miles

“FANTASTIC, solid baked goods.Portions/sizes of every baked item are generous & fillings are hearty - even the vegan ones too!Got the chicken, pork + shrimp, & mushroom + tofu mandos - which are like if a pizza had a baby with a baozi or dumpling (hearty dumpling/Bao meat or veggie filling wrapped & baked in pizza like dough), Nutella challah, cinnamon raisin swirls, chocolate chip + nut + apricot cookies, & trying out the peanut butter raisin cookie.I should also help clarify: the tofu+ mushroom mando also has kale!! Or maybe it’s swisschard - but either way, this is like a trifecta for me coz it conveniently bundles 3 food groups (protein, carb, + veggie) in a nice hand-held lunch portion for me.Plus everything here tastes SO good! But a couple of tips- they have a location in Menlo Park near the train station as a pop-up stand that opens & closes earlier than this brick & mortar site but usually seems to have more items. However, I think I personally prefer this site more coz:1) here u can get ur baked goods toasted (tastes sooo good heated up vs room temp in my opinion)2) parking is free here in the parking lot vs free parking in Menlo Park seems more limited3) actually this is the most important one for me since I tend to have a more sensitive stomach - this Los Altos Little Sky Branch takes food storage conditions seriously & properly, which I’m very grateful for. They follow the local food codes carefully & store their surplus mandos in the fridge/cooler & rotate out their mandos on display periodically. I confess I was a bit disheartened when I went to the Menlo Park location today & learned + saw all dozens of the mandos (including the shrimp + pork ones) were sitting outside from Sunday opening time/8 am - 12:50 pm, which I found odd since the 1st time I went to the Menlo Park location, they also regularly rotated out display Mondos & kept the rest in a cooler. Needless to say, since I love Little Sky Bakery’s stuff enough to buy in bulk & freeze (I discovered just about everything can be stored in the freezer for a long shelf life) - I didn’t feel it would be safe to buy the Menlo Park location’s meat-filled baked goods or at least the ones w/ seafood left out for that long to eat or freeze a bulk down to eat later … so I drove the extra miles to their Los Altos location (which had less mandos available) & bought as many mondos left as I could since I felt more reassured knowing they followed strict food storage temperature conditions & codes. The Los Altos location associates there are also super lovely & kind - knowing of my sensitive gut condition, they know my preferences & will usually pull the chilled mandos for me over the room temp ones whenever possible.“

The Backhouse Sushi • $$
66 21st Ave, San Mateo - 5.85 miles

“My fiancé surprised me with this for Valentine's day and I couldn't be happier! He ordered the omakase box & the tuna box and both were impeccable. The flavors were so unique, the fish was so fresh, and the presentation!! Literally gorgeous. Pick Up: They have pickup locations in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Hayward. The SF location is in the Sunset district! They were on time & super easy to find. Pickup was seamless :) Tuna Box: There were so many new flavor combinations in this box that I haven't tried before and that work so well. For example, truffle and parmesan on tuna!? Both parm & tuna have such strong flavors and I was worried it wouldn't mesh well together but it was so delicious. One of my favorite pieces! One of the pieces had this pate on it, it was perfectly salty and creamy. The otoro piece - SO BUTTERY. Literally tastes like the quality of tuna I had in Japan. Omakase Box: I loved the variety in this box!! It was my first time having raw mini octopus and it had the perfect chew to it. I loved the uni w/ ikura piece, the uni was so fresh and creamy and the ikura burst with flavor. Both boxes come with freshly grated wasabi and a cute soy sauce bottle. The pieces honestly didn't even need soy sauce because they had so much flavor. We'll definitely order from here again!“

Ramen

“It was my first time visiting this place with my friends and family for dinner. They have a few options to choose from to eat, both veg and non veg options - Salads, pizzas, pastas, ramen bowl, ice cream and bakery options. Many of them even came here with their families and toddlers. The ambience was great, there was lively music playing indoors and a small group of people performing a live singing outside as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit!“
