In search of a late lunch and the gorditas here caught my attention. Order comes with 2, and I went with the chicharon. May look small, but it was filling. Loved the texture of the crispy masa shell. Flavors of the inside was good, too - would've liked more of the chicharon. I'd definitely return as there are other menu items I'd like to try.

Just had an amazing meal at La Cocina. Easy to get a table, clean and extremely friendly/attentive staff. The food was so delicious. Everything we tried was so flavorful and fresh. The papa and the cochi tacos were insane. The fish tacos were super fresh and a huge portion. The Gordita with chicharron made my . If you're in the area, give this place a try. It won't disappoint. Thank you to the La Cocina team, we'll be back soon!

Finally, a place that is worth mentioning. After trying a few recommended places in RWC that unfortunately was below mediocre (mehh), this restaurant surprisingly delivered. I ordered a chicken super burrito, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It came with a side of this orange spicy salsa and boy... that salsa was mouthwatering! Also, the horchata was freakin' sweet but freakin' good which complimented my chicken burrito. This will be my go to spot for Burritos in Redwood City.

Been a minute since I was here! Had to come back and visit Jose. Gotta deal with the salsa withdrawal haha. But gosh, Jose just makes his food so much better. I can taste everything, the romaine lettuce, the better beans and rice...all bathed in spicy fresh salsa. Wish I lived closer. Just happy to be back :)

Best Mexican food in the area, it is a different southern style compared to most places here. The attention to detail is amazing they could charge a fortune and get a Michelin

Some of the best Mexican food in a city with many good Mexican options. After I was done with jury duty I came here as a reward to myself. I had two massive fish tacos. Brilliant!

Food was awful. The meat is old and it gave us stomach aches. Never coming back!

Unfortunately I am attempting to finish this review in 2024, long after visiting this establishment so I do not recall my visit here besides giving it 5/5 stars. So in my very trusted book of ratings, I absolutely enjoyed this spot and the food was amazing. So I'll be back and do a better job reviewing next time.

I've eaten at La Cocina de la Abuela several times! While I love trying new things, I pretty much stick to the same thing here...the fish and shrimp tacos! The tacos are huge, so two is plenty for lunch. The proteins are fried, providing a nice contrast to the soft tortilla. Each taco is stuffed with pico de gallo, cabbage slaw, fresh mango chunks and a slice of avocado. I also highly recommend Los Mamalones and the shrimp aguachile. Los Mamalones is a beef taco mixed with nopales (cactus), potatoes and cheese. I've never seen this dish offered anywhere else. One order suffices since it's rather large. I'm a sucker for ceviche so the aguachile is similar. It's acidic and spicy. Perfect to consume on a hot day!

My favorite Mexican food around. Everything I’ve tried is delicious and fresh. I don’t eat meat but the fish and vegetarian options have been amazing.I love their fish tacos … fresh fish and the flavors are so fresh with mango and avocado and just the right amount of salsa, so it doesn’t cover the flavor of each ingredient which I think that’s the problem at some other places. Their aguachiles was mouthwatering and had a nice kick ?️ but they adjusted the spice level to my weak palate ? still had a kick! Their Gordita’s was my latest order. They have a vegetarian option with papas and nopales (that option isn’t available online but no problem on the phone or in person. I think there are less options online tho). They’re also kind and welcoming, great customer service. And todos hablan español y siempre me atienden genial. Will go back anytime I want Mexican food.

I ordered the asada tacos and MY GAWD they were absolutely amazing. These tacos are some of the most authentic tacos I've ever had. Rich with flavor. Tortillas are handmade. Every bite is incredible. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu!
