This place could do a ton better. It has potential. When we walked up it looked closed. They need some sort of open sign. The pricing is pretty high especially for the wine pours which I think is deterring people from coming.

An absolutely amazing restaurant, on par if not better than other local places like the Red Wood Cafe in Modesto or the Market Tavern in Stockton! A Matter of Taste brings unique made from scratch dishes that are expertly crafted, served in a wonderful atmosphere! We had the fish tacos and chicken piccata, with pretzels as an hors d'oeuvre, and had their chocolate cake and blueberry cheesecake for dessert. Don't sleep on their house made desserts which are amazing! Hands down. Best cheesecake I've ever had, and I've tried a lot of cheesecakes! Not only is the food amazing, but it can't be beat at this very reasonable price point! The service was also impeccable, big thanks to our server Dean! My wife and I will be coming back for a fancy date night soon!

Cozy and intimate bistro with great food, wine, and service in Ripon, CA. We had the chef’s specials and recommended wine pairing. My husband enjoyed his Herb Crusted Filet Mignon. Pasta was flavorful and comforting; and the beef was tender. Bread was soft with tasty and salty butter. Malbec was good.Spaces are limited so reservations are recommended. Tonight was not a busy night but street parking was pretty full. Be prepared to park and walk a little bit to the restaurant. We didn’t park too far but it was chili and windy to walk back to the car.Also, great service by Taylor!Thank you!

A number of great things about this establishment: 1) the ambiance is very nice, and is always inside. 2) the food is always made fresh, never lacks in flavor, and is typically different in a delicious way. They pair flavors very well with each other, and with the wine. 3) the service is ALWAYS on point. Elijah is typically my server and he is kind, honest, and positive. He knows the menu quite well, and gives great recommendations for food and wine mixes. Ask for him! 4) lastly, when the owner is present, she is always helpful and kind. 10/10 would recommend.

This is a really cute place for wine on tap! Reservations are helpful as the spot is tight. I would definitely return for a wine event. My table all bought the food and we loved the apps. My entree was salty and stated clams but they were definitely mussels- big portion though. The ribs were sweet but a small portion. Either way my wine flight was worth it and I would go back for that!!

Sunday, 8/07/2022 - Went to "A Matter of Taste" restaurant to celebrate a beautiful friend's achievement . Address is 115 E Main St, Ripon, CA 95366. This restaurant is located in the small town of Ripon in their downtown area. It was such a cute restaurant. There was plenty of parking. Upon arrival:Pros:1) such a cute little restaurant in a cute little downtown area.2) there's a bar.3) we had reservations so they set up our table for us.4) restaurant was clean. Plates, utensils, cups, table, chairs were all clean. No stickiness.5) water tasted good. No metal or funky taste.6) our server was very nice and professional. He checked in on us several times and refill our waters without us having to ask.7) all of the foods we got were very good.8) bathroom was clean. It's one room for men or women.9) our server was so sweet. He took our group photo for us. And even after we ate, we just sat and chat and they never kicked us out.Cons:1) none!Conclusion:I really liked this little restaurant. It was so cute. Love the ambiance, the good, the great customer service, and the foods. I recommend this restaurant. I would go here again.

Service was ok, but the food was lacking. I have never had an Eggs Benedict with an untoasted english muffin. If that's the was it is normally served, it was a mushy mess (Crab Benedict). I did have an issue that I didn't bring up at the time since we were there for a party and didnt want to dampen the mood. I am a huge believer that my change is mine to do what I want with. I can give it back to the server as an additional tip, on top of the 20% that was already added to our tab, or keep it. It's my money. It really irks me when the server never brought my roughly $3 change after the 20% tip. I never said keep the change. I had planned on giving it to him, but the fact he just kept it irked me. It's not the amount of money...it's the principle that he assumed it was his. Update to owners response, yes Id love a copy of the reciept because I gave more cash than the total on the tab. If I was given an incorrect tab, ie without tax, how is that my fault as we should have been given the total we owed and I made sure to add plenty to cover 20% tip and change. So again, yes please send me a copy the tab that I was given, not the changes he made after like he said he was doing. Also, for a tab of 36.50 to get to 39.99 per your comment, what tax percentage are you using?? 9.5 and 9.75% don't give me that total...but Ripon is 7.75% so my 36.50 would be $39.32 correct?
