El Torito in Riverside, California is one of the best here. My family and I come down and are always taken care of. Service is fantastic, the food quality and ambiance is super chill and relaxing! Their prices have always been fair, but mostly the quality of restaurant it is. Victor Perez always takes care of us, he's super kind, welcoming and gives us his best service. And that's what you want! People that love their job and care! Awesome job El Torito!! No matter how tough the economy gets, don't ever close please!!!

Unfortunately, our service wasn't that great. Took forever to get our drinks and after that to even have our order taken. The restaurant inside has a nice ambiance at night, as well as a nice sized bar. Our food was ok, but nothing spectacular. We had to ask for chips and salsa and when they came the oil the chips were fried in was old and you could taste it. Probably wouldn't be back based on this experience.

Went to El Torito restaurant in Riverside yesterday. I noticed at the front desk a sign regarding a 3.99% surcharge for labor ( see attached photo). It seemed very odd to me. If their costs have gone up and they need to raise prices, why not just raise prices like other business's do? What's the reason for a separate charge? We question this when we were being seated. The server told us if we request the surcharge be removed, they will remove it from the bill. When the bill came there was a 3.99% surcharge. I said nothing and gave the server my credit card expecting to pay the 3.99%. When the server returned I was handed a revised bill with the sur-charge removed. We never asked for the charge be removed. We only asked about it. Maybe the surcharge is more of a political statement by El Torito of their disapproval of the new labor laws?

We went earlier for lunch but the host said that we have to wait 20-25 minutes, I looked inside there are so many available tables and even the outside area. So we just decided to go somewhere else. And next time ordering online.
