Weird how they are under-staffed and so many empty tables are not cleaned up. But service was fast and food was amazing.

My go to spot for 7 courses of beef and baked cat fish. Here's why:- Great value for a larger group (Last visit medium catfish, 4 portions of 7 courses of beef, and a couple of beers was less than $40/pp including tip)- I always leave full and satisfied- It's usually not crazy busy and they have a good amount of tables ( Last visit walked in on a Saturday night for 7 and there was no wait)- Staff is pretty friendly- 10% off with Yelp check-in for birthday celebrations- A handful of TVs if you need to have the game on while dining- They only charge extra for vermicelli and not for extra rice paper or veggiesTips:- It's been mentioned but call ~45 mins in advanced for the baked catfish so it'll be ready for when you show up- There are three main dipping sauces; super funky fermented fish, more mild fish sauce, slightly tart tamarind sauce. You can mix to your level of desired funk but the peanuts, sambal, pickled lemon grass helps temper everything- It's super hands on food, don't be afraid to ask for help if you didn't come with an experienced diner

This is a go to place if you want some Catfish fixin’. They are known for their 7 course meal that includes their famous catfish. This is a good spot for family events or holidays. This place always hit the spot for my cravings. Good food with good service. Expect to get your hands dirty as you will have to create your own spring rolls. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is so good. I come here when I'm hungry but want to eat something somewhat light. The salad appetizer is a MUST for me. Sometimes I looked forward to that dish a bit too much haha! The 7 course beef is what they're known for and I usually do get that, but this time I got the small catfish. It feeds 2 people comfortably as long as you wrap it with some vermicelli noodles. The flavors are great and the dips are good (not the best but still good). They replace your water when it gets too cold.Service is hit or miss sometimes, so I dropped one star. They're honest about the wait for catfish being like 20min so you're aware. The beef comes out faster so if you're starving, I recommend getting that instead. One order also feeds about 2 ppl.Hope you enjoy this place as much as I do! There's normally people eating here, but thankfully I never had to wait for a table (maybe I come during off hours haha).

I love coming to Thien An Bo 7 Mon whenever there is a celebration with the whole family. It's a good place for large gatherings, like for birthdays and even Friendsgiving. It was also enjoyable seeing everyone having fun wrapping their own spring rolls.Tonight, we ordered two large MÓN CÁ, which is their famous-baked catfish. Two was enough for 13 people. I highly recommend this for the fish lovers. It was so good. The fish skin is crispy, so adding it to your spring roll will give it that extra crunch. Even if I didn't wrap it into a spring roll or ate it with anything else, it was so good just by dipping the fish itself into the Vietnamese fish sauce (Nước chấm). The fish meat was moist without dipping into the sauce. My family and I ordered the 7 courses of beef. I recommend pacing yourself. The house-special beef and shrimp salad was sour and sweet because of the dressing and pickled carrots and daikons. The salad was refreshing. I recommend scooping it with the shrimp chip and eating them together. It was like eating Vietnamese ceviche. The Bo Nhung Dam is where you boil slices of beef into their delicious house vinegar broth. I love the broth. I recommend not leaving the beef in the broth for too long so you don't overcook the meat. My favorite has always been the beef that is wrapped in the Hawaiian lot leaf, but tonight the winner was the charbroil meatball! It was juicy, savory, and sweet. Next, a griddle is brought out for some beef grilling. It was fun to grill the beef. The beef came out juicy, buttery, and savory. #6 the steamed beef paste was probably our least favorite. It wasn't bad. It was just okay. I think it needed some more salt. The house special beef and rice alphabet soup was such a good end to the meal. You will most likely be very full by the time you get to the soup, but trust me! Endure the stomach pains and have a bowl of the soup. The soup was savory, as well as comforting. The staff were very kind and accommodating. We were celebrating a birthday and brought cake. They were able to provide paper plates for the cake, as well as a knife. Heads up, the tip was already included with the total on the bill. Staff also gave us calendars for the next year. Come hungry!

Our family has come here repeatedly as it's a solid place to get seven courses beef. It's a bit pricey but we come for special occasions and we usually get less servings than we have people and it's good amount of food where we can double up on our favorites separately. My favorite are the meatballs. I like the shrimp starter too. I'm not a huge fan of the alphabet soup thing going on, but that's not specific to this restaurant, so sometimes I just like to do a la carte so I don't get stuck with that. The grilled thinly sliced meat was also very good. They have some Yelp check-in specials from time to time so make sure to check it out. For some reason we had different ones on each our phones but they would only honor the birthday one. And we were actually there for a birthday but they said that the deal is only for one week within your birthday which seems a bit strict but it is what it is, this isn't Sephora I guess. Waiter was very friendly though and still offered something small.

The dinner here was excellent! My family ordered the baked fish, Bo Nuong La Lot, and hot pot. The DIY fish spring rolls were interactive and fun to eat. The skin was very crunchy while the inside was juicy and buttery. All of the sauces are already on the table so it was very convenient. The Bo Nuong La Lot was very juicy and slightly smoky and sweet. The hot pot broth was a good balance of sweet and sour. The service is very friendly. While the decor feels mismatched for the type of food served, it's not a deal breaker. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and would recommend this restaurant to others.

Food is pretty good here! Lots of parking in a shared plaza too. This was my first time trying this place and experience, so it was new and different to me.

All of the 7 courses of beef spots in Orange County had annoyed my parents one way or another, so we ventured off to SGV for 7 courses of beef for my dad's birthday. We did not know they had a 10% off birthday deal, but it was a much welcomed surprise when I saw the Yelp check-in deal. It wasn't the exact exact day since my dad's birthday was on a weekday and we were celebrating early, but the staff was nice and said that it is okay within 2 weeks of the actual date. They don't open until Noon, but is a tad late for our liking since my parents like to eat earlier. Nevertheless we came with an open mind. We really liked pulling up into an area with plenty of parking lot. They share a parking lot with a grocery store, so you can run some errands after your meal. The interior was spacious and modern. It was so festive because it was early November and they were putting up their Christmas décor. Staff was super friendly and welcoming, although more Chinese influenced or American influenced compared to the ones in Westminster/Garden Grove. Everyone was super nice and took turns taking care of our table. We really like that their tables were wider, there was ventilation above so it wasn't too smoke or stinky. They have their sauces on the table. As a family we did the full order of the Bo 7 Mon or 7 courses of beef ($30/order) and added a large side order of the Bo Nuong La Lot ($21) and a small order of the Bo Cha Dum ($9). For everyone unfamiliar with the Vietnamese 7 courses of beef experience, here are the courses: 1. Goi Bo Tom - Vietnamese beef and shrimp salad with pickled veggies. Pretty good but the dressing was a tad sweet. 2. Bo Nhung Dam - Thinly sliced beef tenderloin cooked tableside in house vinegar broth. So yummy! After you cook your meat in this broth, the soup is super tasty to sip on. It serves as a nice palette cleanser, so don't let them take it away. 3. Bo Nuong Vi - Sizzling griddle for marinated slices of lemongrass beef tenderloin cooked tableside. Their lemongrass game was weaker than other places, but not bad. 4. Bo Nuong Mo Chai - Juicy charbroiled meatball, marinated in spices. So juicy and delicious. One of the best versions of this dish I've had any where. 5. Bo Nuong La Lot - Juicy charbroiled meatball, marinated and wrapped in Hawaiian Lot leaf. Super super juicy. Probably the second best I ever had, but the favorite spot is out of business so they're the only best option left. This is a family favorite and we'll probably order more next time. 6. Bo Cha Dum - Steamed beef paste with nuts, mushrooms, spices, topped with a shrimp chip. My least favorite of the 7 courses in general but it's part of the experience. 7. Chao Bo - House special beef and rice alphabet soup. This version is a bit salty but not bad. The bo nuong mo chai and the bo nuong la lot were some of the best ones I had but their vegetable game can use improvement. They don't have rau tim and chuoi chat in the vegetable accompaniments that I enjoy with my 7 courses of beef experience. The knife cuts for the pickled daikon and carrots are a bit thick for these small rolls for a restaurant, they look more like family at home kitchen cut. There is room for improvements, but I appreciate their modern touches and great services. They cost a little more than other 7 courses of beef spots but they also taste better. I'm the type that would pay more for the things I like. Despite not being perfect they are the next best 7 courses of beef spot that hasn't closed down. I definitely see myself coming back the next time my parents have their beef cravings.

Kevin, you are such a gem! He was our server here and made our experience great and memorable. My 3 friends and I opted for a small catfish, a side of noodles and the squid, shrimp and beef to grill. After ordering, the servers immediately come with rice paper, hot water and vegetables for your rolls. We kicked off with grilling the meats first so that we could later make room at the table for the cat fish. All the meats came seasoned and sauced and it was very flavorful in the spring roll. I was also able to dip it into my own diy sauce that I made from the sauces that were at the table - fish sauce, fish paste, peanuts, and sambal. Now onto the fish - the cat fish was perfectly cooked and was even bigger than we expected! It was so flavorful in the spring roll and very delicious! This amount of food was perfect for one party of 4. Big shout out to Kevin and team for being so attentive. They came to us with automatic refill of our vegetables and water. I absolutely love the experience that this restaurant gives. They make the perfect place to celebrate a birthday or even just for bigger gatherings.

Always the best baked cat fish!!! It just melts in your mouth. The staff are always friendly even though they are really busy because of so many tables they have.We also ordered spring rolls and said with shrimp. Both are perfection. It's always worth the drive from Mid Wishire to this restaurant! Try them, and you will never be disappointed.

Thien An Bo 7 Mon is a very authentic restaurant! I have been here a handful of times and I always leave here with a full belly! I am so glad I was able to locate this gem in San Gabriel! Kevin have outstanding service and makes sure his customers are happy when they are dinning here. Everyone here are very friendly and always check in to fill your water. The ambiance here is like a family style restaurant and I do see a lot of family gatherings every time I dine here. I always order the 7 courses of beef here and my mother love the catfish that they make here. The 7 courses of beef is very flavorful and they have fresh vegetable ingredients. The pricing is not bad at all!

Been here 4-times now as they are know for either the catfish or the Vietnamese 7-course beef meal. They are authentic with an 'A' rating from the health department as of 7/8/23. Had the catfish twice now the 7-course beef meal twice. Tonights dinner was the 7-course beef but we skipped 2 of the beef courses as you can order a la carte so you can order what you prefer to eat. Checkout my photos, especially of the menu. I highlighted in red boxes the 2 courses (of the 7) that we did NOT order as I'm told they are less tasty by friends who are actually Vietnamese. I enjoyed the Hawaiian Lot Leaf the most followed by the grilled beef onion and lastly the beef porridge/congee which was the final course. Even if you just ordered these three items, it should be plenty off food IMO. In short, they offer fresh herbs, veggies, rice noodles and dried rice paper wrappers that need to be hydrated at your table to wrap with the protein of your choice. Then, you mix nuc nam sauce with sambal chili and crushed peanuts as a dipping sauce. BTW, I suck at wrapping so I just eat everything off my plate. Getting back to the catfish, since it is deep fried, seasoned and you have herbs and dipping sauces to use, you should not taste and 'muddiness' in the fish if you avoid catfish for the taste.Come check this place out as the servers are younger and most (if not all) speak fluent English if you do not speak Vietnamese (like me).
