My wife and I have been going to Cafe Bernardo's for years. The food and service is usually good. The ambience is wonderful. Especially in the evening when it's warm out. The last couple times we have been there they either were short staffed or the staff are newer. Our most recent visit was 4/21/2023. We do understand that restaurants have staffing issues and we are patient with that. We like long enjoyable meals. We would just like to have our food served warm with silver ware/napkins, salt and pepper, maybe some parmesan for the pasta and get a water refill occasionally without having to track down food runners.

I usually love-love Bernardo's. Yesterday we had a Pizza & Salad. The pizza was so over cooked it was a cracker. We couldn't even pull it apart. It had zero flavor because it was over cooked and semi burnt. We left it!! I tried to say something to the waiter snd he just shrugged his shoulder instead of taking it back to the kitchen.

I am furious! Good food, terrible service. If you sit outside, prepare to be ignored. No silverware with our food, had to get up and ask for it, then waited even longer. Why should I tip before getting my food and service?

The atmosphere is very cold, same the service.. The person who receives the order today, Saturday, 4/13 at 4:00 pm, is totally arrogant. I thanked her and she ignored the customer. She left the plates with the Cuban Sandwich on our table, practically aggressively throwing them, with this very expensive price and with this ugly services and arrogance of employees. I hope that the Manager give them good customer service training. The seevices made me feel like I was in just another fast food restaurant.?

Love love love this place. My mom and I used to come here before the rebuild after her doctor's appts and sit outside and enjoy good food, my favorite cookies and Mac and cheese and whatever she wanted that day. Sadly she passed in 2018 but I keep up the tradition and visit after my Dr appts. I feel close to my mother during my visits❣️And the puppocinos can enjoy the outdoors as well.

Worst service ever! The cashier took my food order and then told me that they had no IPA beer, and he couldn't order a negroni for my wife, so I had to march back to the bar where I found a bar but with no bartender behind it. There was an unidentified person texting on her phone outside the bar looking like a customer. So I asked her, where is the bartender? She said she was the bartender and finally got around to taking my order and mixing my Negroni. Oh, and then I noticed that they had a tap with an IPA beer, so I ordered and got one of those. I then march to my table with my drinks in hand where I am dining with my wife and two friends and wait for my food. Well the couple we were dining with received their food soon after, but where was my food and my wife's? It took another 15 minutes before my wife's order arrived, and another 5 minutes for mine. Then my wife wanted another Negroni, so I asked a passing waitress to get her another. She told me to go order at the cashier. Well, I said that I had had a bad experience with that already. She gave me the cold shoulder and reluctantly said she would put in that order as I handed her my credit card. The food was excellent as we have come to expect from our Cafe Bernardo in Davis, but the service was third rate. I will never go back to that location on Capitol Ave.

We had a really bad experience at this place. Their employees seem to change all the time. When we ordered our food, the person who took our order said "the kitchen does whatever they want." That's unacceptable. And sure enough, all 3 orders were wrong or missing something. I ordered house made breakfast sausage. They brought chicken apple sausage. My friend ordered an over easy egg. They brought a sunny side up egg. My other friend didn't get his food until 20 minutes after we got ours, and it wasn't what he ordered. They tried to fix the sausage error, but it took SOOOO long. They never actually said "sorry," but they didn't charge us for the sausage. Somebody needs to shore up that kitchen staff.

I didn't get much here, but it was a typical cafe. Tasty and aesthetically pleasing, but nothing special. I wouldn't go out of my way to get the coffee, but I did like how it was pretty late when I came in and I was still able to get coffee (or drinks!) at a late hour. I would recommend this place if you have a group of drinkers and non-drinkers so everyone can enjoy something!

Had the Point Reyes bleu cheese burger. It was scrumptious! I always like the quality and consistency of Cafe Bernardo. Also we had their delicious hot beverages served in bowl. Nunu, our Barista did the most amazing froth art! A lotus blossom on my mom’s mocha and a string of hearts on my latte!

Had dinner around 7pm, it was nice and quiet at this time. Sun had already set so it was dimly lit inside, we arrived at the counter area assuming that's where you go to be seated but apparently that are correct. Another couple walked in after us, and the hostess asked who was here first to which I replied we were. The other couple however was sat first for some reason, so my girlfriend said something and the hostess apologized and sat us right after. She said something about them being self-service, which I'm not sure what they meant exactly and if you just sit first or if you're supposed to wait to be seated somewhere else. But it's definitely different than the Café Bernardo at the Pavilion and on R Street. Where at both you order at the front counter and then you're seated. At this location it's different apparently which is somewhat confusing. However we didn't let that hiccup ruin our night, and once looked over the menu briefly just to try something new. Our waitress was really nice and friendly, and helped with the girlfriends drink selection after asking for a Gin drink recommendation. Dinner: Pan Seared Mary's Chicken Breast (gf) Flat Iron Steak (gf) Dessert: Peach Apple Crisp It was a lot busier the following morning on the main side, so we dined at the Four Palms section which is in the Fort Sutter Hotel lobby Breakfast: Vanilla Cappuccino (2X) Huevos Rancheros (gf) Yeast Raised Belgian Waffle Niman Ranch Apple wood Smoked Ham Toast and jam

The barista made one of the best chai’s I’ve ever had in Sacramento. I came here a second time and was impressed with the mocha as well. I met the manager, all the workers are very attentive and friendly. Overall you can’t go wrong with the service they provide. My photos are of the mocha and espresso cake.

This place can’t be beat! The service is always top-notch, and today’s visit was no exception. Ninou (sp? Nenu?) was extremely helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to go back with friends!

Another great brunch spot! I'm so glad that I rediscovered this spot- what a brunch gem! Generous portions of some brunch classics, freshly baked goods, and patio space. What's not to love! We really loved the avocado toast and the huevos rancheros I will definitely be back again soon!

I've been to this Cafe Bernardo location a couple of times, most recently my husband and I came for lunch. We didn't experience any service issues as described in other reviews. Our service was timely and the food was great, as usual. We ordered the chicken sandwich and Caesar salad (added grilled chicken breast). I love how nice this place is on the inside and it's got a nice seating area outside as well. It can get busy during lunch hours due to its close proximity to the hospital.
