I love the friendly service. Their hamburgers are delicious as well as their very creative specials of the day. I recommend this Bistro 100%!

Cottage Cafe is a restaurant inside the Federal building but has their own door outside the office areas. They open for breakfast and lunch only. I'm there at 1pm and they're already start cleaning! But I can still order. Very nice people working there! You pay after you ordered the food. You can have your food in the big indoor seating area or a nice outdoor seating also available. Both very clean and comfortable! The chicken wrap I have ordered was made fresh in front of me. It tasted very good. The veggies and chicken was very fresh. The chicken wrap was very big too! No problem on parking. The parking lot is covered by solar panels and many electrical car recharge outlets available too. But I don't know you will have to pay for it or it is for the employees only!

As a federal employee, I go here all too-often, especially when work kicks into high gear and the stress triggers cravings for their abundance of savory, All-American burgers, fries, and sandwiches. Taste: 5 Service: 4 Value: 5 Ambience: 3 Honestly, the food itself is quite good. With the exception of Dugout Deli nearby, there really is not another place in Arden that I would go to for a nice chicken or turkey club, a ham on rye, a fried BLT or grilled cheese, a rueben, a french dip, or other custom, indulgent sandwiches. They run daily specials and will cook you whatever else you might request, with a range of specialty salads, grilled foods, and a pay-by-the-ounce salad, too. The real downsides are just the two items below: (a) Service - ordering and receiving food is more of a mob than a line, and it's cafeteria-style in the sense you walk up, place an order, then stand at the counter and wait. (b) Ambiance - again, it's basically a cafeteria serving mostly government workers, so imagine lots of trays and banal policy chatter under fluorescent lighting.

I work in the building and this place could use some definite improvements. 1. Coffee is only served in the morning and if you get it in the afternoon you will be lucky to get a lukewarm cup because they turn it off at lunchtime. 2. Lunch ranges from 7 to 9 dollars without a beverage. It is a one plate of food place, the food often runs out by noon or 12:30 pm. Today I wanted to get the Spaghetti and meatballs but they had no meatballs ready. There was a huge amount of sphaghetti noodles ready and salad and about a dozen people waiting around waiting for the meatballs. I didn't have time for that, so I left. I go down there and leave because they run out of food at least twice a week. I am probably not going to go there much anymore. The only thing that is a good value is the breakfast but the prices on that and lunch have increased over the past year without an increase in quality or service. 3. They need some cheaper options for both lunch and dinner. I don't always want to spend 7 to 9 dollars a day on lunch, that adds up to nearly 200 dollars a month just for the lunch alone. There are few to none cheaper ala carte options like sandwiches or fruit. 4. They do have a salad bar but at .45 cents an ounce that is NYC pricing and just not affordable for most people. To get enough salad for a meal you have to spend 8 to 10 dollars. 5. A cup of simple soup is over 3 dollars with tax and a bowl is over 4 dollars. Just too much for a newly hired worker to spend on something that is not filling. What irks me most is the running out of food though, why is that even happening??? Bean counting too much to make a little extra?

The Cottage Cafe is located in the federal building but is open to the public the food is very good and a major upgrade from the last vendor that closed after the government shut down October 2013. Ok the food: they have an excellent salad bar with lots of variety. They have tuna and chicken salad on the bar in addition to mesclun greens and other healthy stuff. They also have a kale and apple salad and the dressing is light and healthy. I also will get the special salad of the day which is mixed fresh by the chefs. I really love the gat cheese and chicken salad. Their grilled chicken is delicious and the salads are huge. They also offer wraps. I love the Cesar salad wrap. They usually have 3 or four daily hot entrees to choose from. You can also get a made to order sandwich or get burgers and fries. For breakfast, people rave about the breakfast burritos and the sausage gravy. They have homemade salsa too! Their bacon and sausage is good. When I eat breakfast I will hit up the salad bar for fruit and cottage cheese or I like to get an English muffin breakfast sandwich. So yummy and always hits the spot.

A very nice cafeteria type place. I hit up this place when I have meetings in the area. They have a variety of food which is quite good and the portions are large. The staff has always being friendly and they keep the line moving. The seating areas are very clean.

The new vendor is excellent!! The best they've had in years! The food is quality. Come check it out because they have something for everyone. They are open around 6am until about 2-3pm. Lunch starts at 11am.

I'm embarrassed eating here without wearing at least a suit coat. The food here is AMAZING! Do you yourself a favor and eat here early and often. The bacon wrapped fillet is to die for as is the souffle. I'm always shocked to not see weddings and proms here. Oh well, more for me. And they have super cool plastic see through boxes to put your salad in. And dressing for the salad.

Updated Review: New Ownership, the cafe is better than it used to be. It's still cafeteria food, but they seem to care now. Salad bar is decent, soups are tasty, as are the sandwiches. The people are super friendly as well.
