This pizza place resides in the converted innards of metal storage containers. The pizza comes from a wood oven set up inside. Beyond the traditional offerings of cheese and pepperoni, you'll also find options that utilize toppings like arugula, pesto, mushrooms, and bacon. They have appetizers, like hummus or their wood-fired rosemary bread loaf with herb butter. A rotating selection of craft brews is on offer to compliment your meal. The open-air environment is pleasantly informal. You seat yourself at long tables and may find yourself sharing one with one or two other groups.People bring their dogs and their kids, though you'll probably see more of the former than the latter. The Federalist might not offer the best slice in town, but their unique takes are pretty tasty. They are solidly good.

Fantastic food and service. Pizza took a little longer then expected, but it was national pizza day so it made sense.Kid-friendliness: Our seven week old baby had no problem at the restaurant. However, if you are sensitive to loud noise it may not be best to go there on a Friday night

First time here, their pizza crusts are really good but unfortunately negated by the chorizo pizza dripping with grease and the mushroom/pancetta pizza was really soggy.A shipping container/tent in an alley with picnic benches, small pizzas about $22 after tax.At this price point, I'd expect good food or good atmosphere, and unfortunately received neither. The crusts really are delicious and if not for the sogginess/greasiness, their pizzas would be excellent

The flow of dinner was a bit clunky, but each dish that came out was eventually excellent, and worth the wait. The only chance to order a drink is when you place your initial order, an inconvenience given the long wait before food is served.First came the house salad, then a charcuterie board, pizza next, separately, and then the rosemary bread which really was meant to be eaten with the soppressata and olives. The dough used for the pies and the loaf was sweet and chewy, kissed with char from the wildfire oven, it was a delight with every accompaniment. The little button pepperoni shined, their bite very much in balance with the other ingredients' flavor, including the vegan mozzarella.
Alright, I've been coming to the Federalist for years but this is the first time I've reviewed it.The order: Capitol & Southside pizzas, w/ the rosemary loaf and salami sides.Food was good/great. The rosemary loaf was the standout, followed by the Capitol, the Southside, then the salami. Southside came out way more cooked than the Capitol, on the verge of crispy. The beer selection was okay, a good spread of styles, but the specific brews/breweries were mediocre (device, dust bowl, etc). That being said, I'll still continue to come to Federalist for the pizza and ambiance.

The restaurant is in converted shipping crates. The pizza is good and I liked the sangria. Just know, they do not take cash.
