I've been going here for awhile. They have the third best dim sum in town. They cater to more Cantonese palates. They're usually packed. The best thing on the menu is scallop dumplings.

I really like this place as it's the perfect bite and flavor for me. I have taken people here and they love it and we're saddened that they closed. I heard also that there may have been a fire, and I've called every weekend since end of April and no one has answered and no special sign by the front door. I have seen a car or two also trying to check if there was a sign at the door about why it's closed. Yep, I miss this place too. Hope they are all okay with the owners and staff and hope they will be in business again soon. Does anyone know of their cook went somewhere else ?

Have had dim sum in some of the best cities (e.g. SF, NY) but never in Sac. Went here with a friend for our "dim sum Sunday" tradition. Great experience. Service wasn't the best but it was a very traditional dim sum. Good food.

I was told by the owner/manager(?) that they are doing a giant remodel and it will take quite a while. Not sure what 'a while' means. I will miss the great food and nice atmosphere. It's a big place.

This restaurant is authentic, traditional and great overall! My family and I come here all the time. There is a new chef and the food is delicious. On Monday-Friday, if you spend $100, you can get a whole roast duck or chicken for $5.

Haven't been to Hong Kong Islander since pre-pandemic and the quality has gone down drastically. We used to come here for their 牛脷酥 (fried pastry in the shape of an ox tongue) and was told that they no longer make this. Shumai and chicken feet did not taste fresh. I think they might have reheated left overs from the previous day to cut down on cost. Other dishes were mediocre.

The staff is very congenial and helpful and the food is good. Although the selection on the carts is not large, they are willing to make quite a few items at request.

Be careful if you plan to book a party here the serving plate size for a table is not enough for 10. Your guests will leave hungry. The gratuity charges is 18% and they want cash. I like the previous owners better reference to the other reviews they charge is $400-600 a table and your guest will leave hungry. These new owners are just money driven. Disappointed never again

Came here with a party of 10 for dim sum. The dim sum was ok, nothing impressive. Prices are inline with the other dim sum places where most everything you choose are medium to large. There's not a lot of variety on the carts, so they keep pushing the same food over and over till it's gone. The service was good, not great. Although they had runners that came by to pick up plates, you still had to ask for refills. I ordered a dish from their chalk board from the hostess station, but it didn't come out for a long time, so I had to remind the waiter about the dish, then it came out shortly. This was on Superbowl Sunday, so it wasn't crazy busy. This is the first time here in a long time, so I didn't know what to expect. The one thing they rip you off on is charging the whole table for tea. They ask you the type of tea and you respond with your choice thinking the tea is complimentary. After looking over our bill, they charged everyone at the table 1.50 for tea, when only 4-5 people actually drank from the pot. 15.00 for tea was absurd. We don't eat dim sums but once a year, so getting ripped off once teaches me and you a valuable lesson, we all learn from it.

Don’t ever host weddings or large group gatherings here.Staff is slow at bringing out food and they’re extremely rude to everyone who is not Chinese. When we asked about our missing appetizers, they gave a BS excuse about how they had to substitute it for another dish.Very upset after we found out from other tables that they had all their food from the menu.Parking lots are old, cracked, and unmaintained. Bathrooms were wet and dirty with paper towels on their floor. We’re definitely going to a different venue next time so don’t waste your money at this horrible restaurant.
