Lasagna had a good taste, only a little mushy and greasy. The torte di formaggio cheesecake was lighter than most with a good taste and excellent strawberry compote. The 4 cheese flatbread appetizer was excellent.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The servers didn't constantly bug us but were there when they were needed. The calamari was fantastic, the penne alla vodka was delicious, but my scaloppine alla modenese was good, but on the greasy side. And at that price, we'll, I expect more.

Respectfully I will not be going again This place has a beautiful outdoor patio area but besides that I regret my reservation for this spot. My friend I decided we wanted some Italian food to break our fast (no food no water for 14 hours), we put our reservation for 7 PM expecting that we would get some food in the form of appetizers by 7:45, 20 minutes after our fast would break which we were fine with. We ordered our appetizers (consisting of olives/tomatoes/vinegar and oil/bread/raw tuna - i'm saying this not bc it's bad but to highlight that food prep isn't too difficult) and dinner at around 7:20, received the appetizers around 7:50, and didn't get out dinner until 8:40. At this point we asked for it to go bc we already had such low energy from the lack of food and wanted to go home. We mentioned to our waiter that we would like to leave as soon as we could, but processing our check took another 15. On top of this my water took about and hour before it was refilled I understand it was a Friday but it's hard to fathom having paid $100 for 2 hours in which we only got that chance to eat appetizers we could have prepared at home. Update on the food itself: appetizers worth it but noodles are not

Il Fornaio blew me away! From the minute we walked in, the service was amazing. The ambiance was romantic and sophisticated, and the food? Delicious! You can taste the fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked. I got the tube pasta, which tasted soo good. Honestly, it was one of the best pastas I've had in a very long time. It was a truly special dining experience, especially since I came here with my wife for my anniversary. Highly recommend!

Very small portions for the amount of money. Salad consisted of small thin slices of tomato and a few basil leaves and some pitted olives & mozzarella cheese topped with olive oil $15+. My $48+ sea bass was just 2 paper thin cutlets fried in olive oil with some capers on it with a few baby potatoes & baby carrots. This place is overrated & overpriced. I'll stick to my mom & pop italian restaurants in San Jose Little italy. The only good thing was the bread that they brought out and some balsamic vinegar, but it was presented in a flat plate & we constantly had to get refills. I would have preferred a bowl of olive oil with balsamic vinegar and a little bit of butter on the side we got none. Olive Garden would have been better.

Special celebration dinner? Great service and food? Classy ambience? Il Fornaio definitely checked all the boxes! Our server tonight was Nicole and she made this birthday dinner that much more special! Talk about prompt and friendly service! I will definitely ask for (and recommend) Nicole's phenomenal service again next time! The pasta here is hand made fresh. The mushroom ravioli and seafood linguine that we ordered were full of flavor in every bite. The pasta was cooked to perfection. It's as if the ingredients were dancing to a symphony on my tongue! The calamari appetizer is the best here in Northern California. As a finale, the tiramisu was phenomenal and the closest to what I've tasted in Rome. As one waiter told me, if the pastry chef does not have the right ingredients, it is simply not made here. This Sacramento location is the most elegant, with tall ceilings and classical architectural details throughout the restaurant. With oil paintings decorating the dining rooms, it seems as if you magically walked into a restaurant in Europe for an incredible meal! A must try if you've never been here for an incredible Italian meal!

We celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday at Il Fornaio. The food was delicious and portions were good. Our server, Nicole, was excellent. She was really nice and made sure we were taken care of. We will definitely be back.

The food was excellent although we were only there to eat from the happy hour menu. The calamari was exceptional. The service from the waiter was great although the hostess was racist! The ambiance became lively around 6.

Made reservations for my wife in advance for her birthday. Called the day of to ask if I could bring a cake and was told that had a birthday dessert option that they would bring out. After dinner, not seeing the dessert option I asked the lady who sat us at our table to please remind our server. She did, He never followed up on the request. I didn’t make it an issue as it was my wife’s birthday and she didn’t need that to happen. When I left I told the person (lady) that he never brought out the birthday dessert.Highly disappointed. Never received a call back from the restaurant.(To be clear, the issue was the lazy, wrinkled uniformed server)

This place was incredibly mediocre, at best. The only positive thing about this place was second waiter, a really nice and pleasant woman. But everything else was horrible. Our first waiter was just downright unpleasant, making us feel like we were wasting his time and he didn’t want to be there. Luckily he quickly switched off to the nicer waitress who took over after 15 min or so.The bread that came out was stale and cold, so I had to ask for fresh bread. One of the apps we ordered was roasted cauliflower, we got steamed cauliflower instead…the rest of the food was incredibly bland. Weird vibes from the lady up front as well, who was completely silent as we were leaving until I said have a nice day.I get that this is Sacramento and not NYC, and this is just an affordable Italian place and not Del Posto, but there has got to be better Italian options in the city than this place. Highly recommend eating anywhere else.
