ok - it has been several years since we are here last. the last time we were here, they served moldy broccoli and we all had food poisoning. So how were the dishes today? And why did we return? First off, this is what we ordered: 1) salty/spicy pork chops: very good- just needed a little more spiciness. But still had a nice flavor. The meat was also very tender and moist- I would order this again 2) Tomato Beef Chow mein: another excellent dish. fresh noodles, fresh veggies, tender pieces of beef and a nice sweet tomato based sauce. Ordered Hong Kong style but with thin non-crispy noodles. yes would order again 3) Chinese beef stew: this is how you prepare this dish. other chinese restaurants nearby can't even come close to the tenderness of the beef and tendons along with the traditional flavor of this dish. Finally, the star anise is present in this dish and not just soy sauce or too much chu hou paste. The only complaint were the overcooked bok choy that was layered below the beef pieces. the bok choy was overcooked and a bit slimy- but would order this dish again 4) stir fried fish fillets and chinese gai lon: very tender pieces of fish and nice garlic flavor. The only complaint would be to cook the chinese gai lon a little more to achieve the proper tenderness. So why did we return? perhaps the prep cooks and chef had a bad day last time. So i will return again.

Live in land pard and decided to try this place for Chinese. Service was slow and not responsive. Food was awful. The beef in Broccoli beef either wasn’t beef or was fried fat that had terrible texture and taste. The veggie noodle dish was on a bed if uncooked noodles. Yuk. We can’t recommend this place.

Terrific food in a neighborhood mom and pop restaurant. They happily accommodate large groups and families but I’ve eaten by myself here and have never had a bad meal. Highly recommend the chicken chow mein, scallop fried rice, walnut shrimp, and seafood and tofu soup. Service is attentive, even during busy periods.Parking: There seems to be some contention between the different businesses here over the parking slots. The last time I was there, there were laminated signs zip tied to the posts, saying certain spots were reserved for customers of ___ store, along with signs saying “cars will be towed at owners expense.” It looks like there are plenty of open spaces on the weekdays but I kept checking my Air Tag location to make sure my car was still in the lot, lol.

To start I used to eat here regularly many years ago with friends/family and it was one of the better and cheaper chinese food restaurants on freeport blvd. Fast forward to today and what I got was about the worst overpriced chinese food I have ever had. I got two #2 combination plates for takeout. Both plates were identical with about 95% rice with barely any meat to be found. The rice was pretty much tasteless and had a few very small pieces of pork in it. This food was nothing like it used to be so we thought maybe I had gone to the wrong place but nope, google maps with old street view images confirmed this was the restaurant we used to get food at. The rest of the food was just ok, nothing to write home about. For $26.00 + tax I got 2 plates of bland rice with a few morsels of meat thrown in. I will never be going back here again, better off going to Panda Express before jade fountain cafe!

My new go-to Chinese place. Amazing general chicken and spare ribs. Can also order your food without MSG if you're into that kinda thing (though be prepared for less flavor, and they can't do it for the soups). Highly recommend this

Top notch quality all around, from cooked oysters to ox wonton no one compares! I like the food taste way better than I had thought, and I like the way the flavor came out of everything that was produced.

My go to place for Toisan style food. The friend flounder and stew dishes are perfection. Their lunch specials are good values. Friendly fast service. Staff is alway engaging.

Ordered house pan fried noodles and fried rice, both with barbecue pork as one ingredient. After having taken one bite of both dishes, we felt that the BBQ pork tasted rotten. So we informed the server and requested for a change to other dishes. The server said the restaurant owner refused to change for us because he didn't think there was any problem with the BBQ pork although we asked him to try it by himself. He even said that if we didn't like to eat the food, we just didn't eat it. This is a very irresponsible restaurant that doesn't even care about food safety and follow up on customers' comments. Not recommended to anyone who relies on the restaurant owner to take good quality control of their food.

Must try for yourself. Sacramento has its share of Asian restaurants, I'd like to believe I've tried many of them. Although I have eaten here at Jade many years ago after returning for lunch with a family member, I must have gotten how delicious the food is. Now the portions prices are very generous. My tastes buds say triple D's for Jade Fountain Cafe Definitely Definitely Delicious ?

Best salt and pepper chicken in the Sacramento area! Trust me, you will come back for more. They also have salt and pepper fish and it's equally as good. They have huge portions. Go for the fried rice or the chow mein. It will last you a day or two. If you want something more salty, the chicken and salted fish fried rice will definitely get your blood pressure a bit up. So worth it. Parking is a little cramp but manageable.
