The food here is soooo good. We had the beef larb, papaya salad and red curry with chicken. The ladies that work there are so sweet ? Can’t wait to go back

Best Lao food in Sacramento! Never fails. They only take cash only so come prepare! Their raw beef Laab and soup is so yummy. Must order the fried fish as well. Super yummy! So far nothing fails!

This place has changed a lot. Ever since I've known this place it has changed owners 4x! But I've been coming here since I was also 12 years old lol. Love that they serve raw larb. Honestly, I'm not in love with the papaya salad and the food has changed with the owners. But I come here once in a while to get my lao food fix when I'm in Sacramento. New owners are really nice. So I support my local small businesses.

I came here with some family members while in the area. We were together to handle some sad arrangements for a lost loved one. After dealing with the important issues, we found ourselves overcome with not only grief but hunger. It was a bit of a search on Yelp to find some local restaurants we could agree on. That's when we narrowed it down to South East Asian BBQ. It was a little complicated to locate this neighborhood restaurant in an older part of town. But the sign came into view and we knew this was the place! It's a bit of a "hole in the wall," but that's what we love - new and interesting ethnic cuisine! As we walked in, there is a menu posted with photos of their dishes and a barely readable typed up menu with ingredients of each item they serve. We ordered several dishes to share. Nam Khao salad made with fried rice, chili, lime, cilantro and green onion. Served with green leaf lettuce and cabbage wedges. Beef Jerky with fish sauce. House made Lao sausage served on a bed of shredded cabbage. Since I prefer to eat vegetarian, I ordered a separate dish called Tum Som: shredded green papaya mixed with chili pepper, garlic, tomatoes, lime juice and house made fish sauce. Served with vermicelli noodles and cabbage wedge. I requested a mild spice level.Everyone just loved their food! However, as much as I wanted to enjoy my meal, it was just too dang spicy for me to finish! When I told them I could not continue eating my food because it was too hot, the waitress just laughed. But I don't think she understood what I said due to the language barrier...

I only got 5 peppers in my papaya salad (Tom sum) and it was not spicy enough for me. I like spicy but not extremely spicy so that says a lot. The nam khao and Lao sausages was good. I got the chicken wings for my daughter and I also tried it. Honestly, it tasted really plain but I ate it with the sauce it came with. My 5 year old daughter loves chicken but she did not like it. Washed everything down a thai coffee. I was there for the first time in years on April 11th. Came back yesterday for food to go to enjoy at the park with the family. Will definitely be back again

A hole in the wall. Probably not a place for the weak hearted lol. Home-made-like Southeast Asian food - pho, khob poob, rice and meat, etc. I believe it is Laotian owned. Ordered the khob poob and it didn't disappoint.

During one of the most difficult weeks of our lives Ida, Jared, The Goddess, and myself stopped in for some lunch. At first I thought google had gone haywire, as we were lead through a neighborhood my mind flashed back to Anjelah Johnson's Prime special, but at last we came to a long amber colored building containing a few small bushiness storefronts.Upon stepping inside there is a screen and an area that looks like you should wait to be seated, but that isn't the case simply walk up to the register, read the menu and order. This establishment is cash only, so you'll want to be sure to stop and pull some out before your arrival. The menu posted next to the register contains several photos, but be careful not to miss the hand written options posted next to it for even more choices.I took Sharon P's advice and ordered the Nam Khao a delicious fried rice salad pilled with herbs and eaten as lettuce wraps. Jared and Freya had the Jerky, and sausage with jasmine rice.Ida ordered Tom Sum for some reason I thought she had ordered Tom Yum- funny because it's not on the menu, and I was very confused when the papaya salad was brought out instead of soup. All of us ordered either soda or coconut juice, our drinks were brought out in cans with a cup of ice and a glass of water. The tables are set up with all the utensils needed and a handful of condiments. Freya was offered soy sauce to go with the rice and when we showed our concern due to food allergies the bottle was quickly brought out for us to check the ingredients, so thoughtful. I am happy to tell you the soy sauce used is gluten free!

This has got to be one of the best local eateries in the Sacramento area regarding quality Lao cuisine. You first order at the counter (cash only) and pick from a range of Lao dishes that usually take so much time to make in a traditional house hold. Lao food is savory, salty, and spicy. The dishes have a variety of veggies that pair well with the protein . My personal favorite here is the papaya , sausage , sticky rice, and intestine soup. These flavors are NOT watered down. If you're not familiar with Lao and Thai foods made with our native recipes , then beware. This place is flavor town!

I came here with a friend after seeing someone post the food on Instagram. That was the best idea I had all day.First, CASH ONLY.Thankfully I had a friend with cash with me after I placed my big order and realize it was cash only. I took a picture of the menu. Since I didn't know several of the things where I asked the lady and she came around and explained everything to me. Everyone here is very pleasant and friendly.I was hungry so I ordered a large portion. You can see the difference in the photo between a small and a large. I could have gone swimming in this bowl . I had the Khao Poon and egg rolls, plus Thai tea. Very flavorful, with a little zip. I ordered some ribs for my son, and he said the seasoning was fantastic. There's lots of parking outside. Ambiance is pretty utilitarian. Everything was clean, and it was nice to be able to sit and talk without anyone rushing you.I will definitely be going back.

This place is a hidden gem! One of my favorite Lao food spots, the only down side is they only accept cash. But a trip next door to super x to pull out cash isn't to bad. The ladies there are also all super nice. They remind me of my aunties and grandma. I always get their raw beef laarb, papaya, and pho. The raw beef laarb you can adjust if you like it bitter or not (I usually don't) and how spicy you would like it. I usually just get medium because I like getting my papaya spicy as well so not to much spice all together. Otherwise they have more Thai chili pepper with the laarb. The papaya is great with the tomatoes and vermicelli noodles. I wish they put peanuts in it though but it still tastes amazing. Their pho broth is good but some days it's a hit or miss I'd have to add more fish sauce for salty ness. Their meatballs are amazing, I love them so much. I'm pretty sure they're homemade as they melt into your mouth. We also got a Thai tea but the Thai tea is super sweet so I usually let it sit with the ice for a while before I drink it.During this stop we decided to get a new item from the menu which is their koi soy. The broth was good but same concept as the pho, it needed more fish sauce but I guess it's convenient the customer can add as they like. The broth had noodles, pork belly, steak, shrimp, and a lot of other stuff, it was loaded!!!I usually spend more then $50 here and it's all worth it. I always come back when I'm craving food close to home.
