Tried calling the restaurant to place a take out order and there was no answer after multiple attempts. Tried placing the take order online and their link for skytab was not working. The time was around 6pm, online shows their business hours open until 9pm but DoorDash showed the restaurant was not taking orders at that time. Frustrating to say the least. Won’t be ordering or dining from here anytime soon.

Arrived 10 minutes early for reservations, only to find out they had a fire recently. No one there and lights off. So much for a nice Valentines Day dinner. No call, no warning, no nothing. Terrible. Bar next door was operating and made statement that oh yeah they had a fire recently, making me believe that it happened before the day of the reservation. No communication whatsoever.

Went to have our Christmas celebration with our out of town grandchildren only to find it closed due to a fire in the kitchen. While this is an awful experience for the restaurant, it would have been easy to inform their customers with reservations on Open Table of the incident in advance. We very much would have appreciated it, as we went to other restaurants which had an hour wait which didn't work for our schedule.

We made a reservation for last Saturday through open table. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed with a sign about fire on their kitchen. No one called us or sent an email about that in advance. It was extremely hard to find other place to accommodate us right away. Thanks God we had just regular date, not dedicated to any special occasion, anyway our mood was ruined. Shame on you for such a poor customer service!

Great spot with lots of food and drink options, a fantastic cheese and meat board, and nice staff.

How was it? It wasn't. We made reservations through Open Table two days in advance for dinner Sunday night, but when we arrived, the doors were locked and the place was dark. We were told by the staff at the Mexican place next door that a kitchen fire had occurred earlier that day. So we had to find other accommodations. I should say that we have never had a bad experience at Cafe Vinoteca. But I will note that confirmation of our reservation did not arrive via email until Wednesday morning along with the email seeking a review. Please let people know when you will reopen. We realize that kitchen fires can do lots of damage. We wish you best of luck.

My family and I ate dinner here on 11/23 and we were very disappointed. Although none of the food was spectacular, the "New York" steak was deplorable. It was very thin, over cooked, and if it was actually a New York cut (which I seriously doubt) it was the worst quality I've ever been served. The server was friendly and, from what I could tell, was the only one working the entire floor and bar. It was a bit slow (despite being basically empty when we were there). Unfortunately, as much as I'd love a good restaurant nearby for our regular rotation, this will not be an option in the future.

They may be a better restaurant than we experienced, but we arrived when there were only a few customers and got busy slowly. We had the bartender for our server and they added a second server later on. Our server was really too busy to continue to serve all her customers and the other server's drinks at the same time. The veal was tough which I would not have expected and the chicken carbonara was not as flavorful as I usually enjoy. The appetizer brussel sprouts were tasty and crispy just like we hoped. I can see the service being better at another time but the food is not worth going back for us.

Went here for my birthday dinner and was extremely disappointed with the taste of the food and the service. We ordered calamari for an appetizer but never got it, luckily we were not charged for it. I ordered the gnocchi with bolognese sauce and it was bland, not good. Caprese salad was okay. Walnut arugula salad was fine. When it came time to order dessert the waitress only took one of our orders and assumed that we were going to share. I had the tiramisu and once the waitress came back we were able to order the banana cream pie. The desserts were good hence the second star. I do not recommend this place.

I love all the menu but this time I've ordered a pasta verde and wow that's the best pasta ever. Very satisfied!!!

I've ordered via Grubhub several times. In one week, we ordered 4 days in a row. Food is consistently tasty with good quality ingredients. Their sauces are top notch and really make the dish. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is the way they pack their to go orders. The plating itself is superb, like the dishes. It's whoever packages them in the bag that messes it up. One time they packaged our orders in the plastic bag like books -- sideways to fit them all in, and it included soup! Even the delivery driver commented at how bizarre it was packed in the bag. Also, the bags they use are the cheapest, most awful plastic bags. They use ones that are super thin and could melt. Food this good should be packaged and protected just as good.

I enjoyed the clams luiguini-decide to do take out instead of delivery since I was in the area-parking can be a little challenging but the food was excellent

We came in with family for dinner after a difficult day of saying goodbye to our niece who passed from cancer. It was a somber mood, but we were reminiscing, sharing memories and laughing. Our meal was so good - from appetizers through dessert. Our servers were so kind and helpful at explaining the dishes and giving wine recommendations. We shared some yummy cheesy garlic bread and crispy calamari to start. Between the 7 of us, we had chicken parmigiana, linguine with clams, chicken carbonara, gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce, salad with grilled salmon, and spaghetti & meatballs. Everyone loved their meals and shared bites - I really liked my linguine & clams and the carbonara, but my nephew's gnocchi was divine. Our wines were excellent as well. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu, banana cream pie, and crème brûlée. Sadly they were out of the latter, so we went for the chocolate cake. The cake was too dense & dry for my tastes, but the tiramisu was very good. The banana cream pie - oh my! It was the best pie I've ever tasted! As we were preparing to go, our server came out with some crème brûlée to take home & bake. She explained what to do and even provided a ramekin! Talk about great service! We were the last party to leave the restaurant and by that point we were all friends with the staff - so there were some thoughtful hugs as we left. I don't live in Sacramento, but when we visit this will be a must-do dinner stop! Thank you to the staff (I'm sorry, but I forgot names) for your caring service and delicious food. It really did lift our moods and brighten a very sad day for our family. Go enjoy a great dining experience at Cafe Vinoteca - and be sure to order the banana cream pie!

I genuinely have no idea what the heck is wrong with this clam they served me. I just know it's not to be consumed. I ordered take out and lost my entire appetite... I just hope I don't get sick
