Second trip up to Napa during Covid and you still aren't open for tastings or purchases. Can't make $ if you aren't open! All the other wineries are open and doing business. Wine is delicious.

We were passing by and noticed "Yao Family Wines" and thought, "huh, Yao as in Yao Ming?". To our surprise we found out Yao Ming has a winery out here! We had a very warm welcome and were served by Shia who was an absolute joy to talk to. She was extremely friendly and informative from the moment we stepped into the time we left. She made our time there very enjoyable! As for the wines, the family reserve Cabernet was, hands down, our favorite. Definitely a must-try! We will definitely come back and bring more friends and family with us!

We went for convenience and were very disappointed in the wine and atmosphere. For $35 we tasted 3 wines, pretty expensive compared to other places. None of them were good and were high priced. The tasting room is more Vegas than wine country, and even if they wanted to give it some Chinese inspiration, they just made it look trashy. The family doesn't know anything about wine, it's just some business for them as a result of having too much money.

Yao Family Wines is within walking distance to the cute shops and restaurants on Main Street in Saint Helena, and there's ample parking in the lot out back. I came here recently for their Chinese New Year Dim Sum tasting. I've admitted before that with all the tastings and tours I've done, I still don't know the differences among all the wines and I couldn't even begin to explain the wine-making process. I visit these wineries and tasting rooms for the experience, and I had a pretty good experience at Yao Family Wines. When making my reservation, Angela was great with communication and with the timeliness of her replies. Both she and our hostess, Shia, were very open to feedback and aimed to please on our visit. While the dim sum was okay and not the most spectacular, I still thought the food paired well with all the wine. Portions and pours were generous in my opinion, and both Angela and Shia offered additional pours for us. It was truly a unique experience, and to top it all off it was pretty neat to see items worn and signed by Yao Ming on display throughout the tasting room. Thank you, Angela and Shia, for hosting this event!

Great time at YFW tasting room. Tried the access and tasting and enjoyed everything we tasted especially the Cab and ended up taking home a bottle. Our host Shia was very pleasant and accommodating and really went of her way to entertain even w/ a full tasting room. There are plenty of Yao memorabilia on hand if you are a fan or fan of the game. Overall a very pleasant visit.
Nice tasting room with great wine, friendly staff and unique Asian touch. Definitely recommend this place to any Yao's fan out there.

As we jaunted to Napa, we researched and wanted to check out Yao Ming's wine and his basketball fame. And, also, my son who had resided in Taiwan and China during his college semesters abroad and internships was interested in the culture of Yao Family Wines. We enjoyed the overall vibe of the tasting room -- it has a nice contemporary feel with cool arrangement; and of course, the Yao Ming's memorabilia! Angela, our server, was absolutely awesome -- very informative and engaging! She made us feel comfortable as we learned lots about their wine varietals and history, and while, exchanging other facts and tidbits -- it was like playing trivia pursuit :) Overall, their wine selection is excellent. The '16 Yao Ming Cabernet Sauvignon was our favorite that we purchased a couple wine by the glass while continuing with more facts and tidbits. We ended up purchasing the bottle to add in our collection. Before departing, we asked Angela for dining recommendations -- she mentioned trying Spanish tapas at Zuzu. Feeling like paella, we took her up on it and loved it. If you happen to Napa/St. Helena wine trek for a nice obscure winery, Yao Family Wines is a must visit!

Stopped into Yao for my wife's 40th birthday in September. We had a fantastic tasting experience with their Tasting Room team. They welcomed us right away and explained the different tasting flights we had an opportunity to try. We got to look around the gorgeous Tasting Room which has some beautiful photos of some of Yao's work for Wild Aid as well as other social causes. We even got to hold a replica of his NBA Hall of Fame ring.
