Located in a strip mall, with limited parking this place is on the small side...but not a problem since we the only diners there for lunch. We ordered Paneer Chicken and Lamb Korma with a side of rice. Also ordered Naan and veggie Samosas. Expected plates but instead were served in bowls family style. The chicken was really good melt in your mouth tender and the lamb was mild but tasty. The gentleman who served us was very kind. We were surprised that the place is empty during lunch hour, perhaps a bit pricey for lunch. The tab was $60 for two but we were celebrating my daughter's birthday so a special occasion for us. I would definitely go again for a special occasion or when I have extra funds to spend on great food.

We came all the way from canada to salinas for dropping the load and here we were looking for tasty indian food and we found avtar indian grill??The food was sooo yummy and the spices were just like home cooked food ??More over the ambiance was great and presentation was also good“ THE FOOD WAS REALLY TASTY YOU SHOULD GO AND CHECK IT OUT “
It’s actually surprising how terrible the service is here. Online order said it would be ready at 4:30, I didn’t leave the restaurant with my food until 6:12pm! The older man at the counter wouldn’t even speak to anyone, and wouldn’t give me a refund. Food was just OK. Won’t be going back.
We arrived right when it opened and dinned in for lunch. They do not have a buffet. I ordered the Tandoori mixed grill that had an assortment of chicken, sausage and spicy fish. It took about 20 minutes to get our food, but when we got it, it was hot and tasty, the Naan bread was fresh also. The server was an older guy who was very pleasant, we willBe back soon, I do Not see much authentic Indian restaurants or food in Salinas, ca.

Amazing food, amazing service, lovely owner and staff. Quick service as well. I ordered the butter chicken, chicken tiki masala, and basmati rice, and naan. Everything was delicious and warm. I would definitely recommend going here for dinner. I would come here again! 10/10!!! I loved the food.
If.you want to eat healthy Indian food this place should be avoided , chicken biryani color is RED this shows the quality of the food … arrogant customer service too … I am surprised how this restaurant got 4+ rating on google .

Took time to get us a table (we were a big group of 10), took time to take the order, then took time to get the food. We spent around 1.5 hours here. tl;dr: DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE.One of the most terrible experiences of my life to visit any restaurants in the world! I just trusted the original 4 rating on google and went there, but when I ordered vegetarian appetizer, it came with chicken in it. When I politely asked the old man who served us to take it away and make me talk to the chef, he laughed and said eat chicken. It hurts my religious sentiments and my personal choices. I mentioned that it's not his mistake because he just served us the food, but I wanted to make the chef understand that this is a big blunder. The chef came out laughing as if they did it intentionally and he just took the plate without apologizing. The old man who served us to whom I and my family were too respectful and polite started yelling at me and asked me to get out of the restaurant. He was so rude and mean. I wonder how is this place open in this remote town when the food, behavior, service, atmosphere is of poor quality. I am now reading detailed reviews from others and finding out that many people have reported similar yelling and getting out issues of this person (who appears to be the owner of that restaurant). PLEASE DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT ever. To my fellow American friends, don't trust this Indian food just because it's a cooked meal. It's very filthy.
