Wish they were in a higher traffic area so they could get the business they deserve. That would make it easier to flex their hours more. Perfectly cooked steak as requested, medium-rare. All meat choices are awesome. Perfect Comfort Food. ????

The New York steak sandwich was incredible! Great serving size and great value, relative to other restaurants in these days of inflation.

Been a resident of Salinas for 17 years and I didn't know that this place exists not until my BFF brought me here today for a lunch date. They said that this used to be a truck stop which explains the location, but now is family owned local business. It is situated in a spacious lot, with the valleys in the background. There are a couple of huge round wooden tables and chairs with umbrellas outside if you prefer to dine while looking at the beautiful scenery. The inside is a typical barbecue kind of place with good amount of dining area. The place is very clean, simple but well kept. The bathrooms are very clean and don't smell at all (a must for me)! To order, you have to go to the cashier and pay as you order. Kim (I hope I remember her name right) today's cashier is warm, friendly and nice. We chatted with her while ordering, it is my first time so she made some suggestions on some of the most amazing foods they have in the menu and I definitely went with it. We ordered the chicken barbecue on a brioche bun , a southwest chicken salad and the tortilla soup to share. I love brioche to begin with, but the chicken and all the add ons including the coleslaw is a matching heaven. The ad ons especially the coleslaw and sauce was a perfect pair to the bun and the chicken. I honestly would never get tired ordering it again. The salad is okay, good portion. The soup is delicious, seasoned perfectly. While we were dining the owner's grandma went to our table and chat with us for a little bit, and then she went towards everybody that's dining to pass out home made cookies. The owner's mom was also there at the moment and kind of converse with us too. I'm big on foods but the biggest for me is service - and this place have a great customer service. When you go in there you'll feel like you're part of the community. Plus the sweet and kind staffs add up why it's a pleasant experience dining here. Highly recommended - great foods, great customer service, great people! This will be my new favorite place in town. A hidden gem has been found! I have to say huge thank you to my BFF Deb for bringing me here! Great choice!

A great change of pace from Monterey's traffic and high prices, this little diner in nearby Spreckels was originally built to feed ag truckers, so the portions are huge. Fantastic tri-tip sandwiches.

I know that 5 stars is common for me that's because I don't like rating places that suck. I am posting pictures of my favorite item on the menu, it's their tri tip sandwich. I opened it up to show off the 16 ounces of tender smoky truly amazing meat. Served on a toasted garlic french bread, onions peppers bbq sauce, outstanding. They have a great menu with trucker size breakfast, lot's of burgers and sandwiches. Thier is a really good reason to go to Spreckels CA.

Cant believe I've lived in Salinas my whole life and have never heard about this hidden gem in Spreckles! This place is truly great. Best BBQ around. You get a bang for your buck! They are definitely generous when it comes to portion size. Greatly appreciated. Potato and macaroni salads are okay. I personally prefer the chili and French fry or tater tot combo. I wish they had mac and cheese! The chicken is full of flavor. Tri trip is really good too. Been here twice since I discovered this hidden gem, that tells you something! I do wish they were open on the weekends though!
