Unassuming, somewhat hidden, but hands down, these guys need a bigger place and to be well known! I know that sushi in the Bay Area has a good rep… But I was certainly not expecting the quality that I got here tonight. I basically ordered off of the specials menu after I started with the SB Uni. Ama Ebi to Otoro, and everything was melt in your mouth fresh and delicious. If I could do it over again, I would have definitely gone with the Omakase because these sushi chefs will not disappoint!

Amami Bistro still holds it strong after all these years. Despite the slight increase in price of omakase, the $42 is still worth it given how fresh the servings are. The location I usually go to was on Linden Ave, but this location is a bit easier with parking nearby on the streets (no need to pay a meter either). The parking lot directly in front of the restaurant is also pretty small, so street parking is best. The omakase servings are pretty consistent across locations, so the quality is kept high as expected. I also ordered the tai carpaccio, which is a good appetizer before the meal. It's not a cheap dinner or lunch, but it's also not very expensive either compared to other top sushi options in the Bay Area. I think it's definitely the best bang for the buck deal on sushi and is always worth visiting.

This place is pretty solid! We came here for dinner and ended ordering 2 rolls, an Omakase set, and the blue fin tuna Kama! Trust me it you guys come here get the blue fin Kama it's HUGE! We ended up having to take it come! It was so good! The restaurant itself is fairly small with had lots of tables cram together. The decoration was nice and modern. I thought the service was ok. The food was good overall. I'm still blown away by the blue fin Kama. Overall this place is solid, I would come back.

Since my go to Amami Sushi was closed, I had to satisfy my wife's sushi craving.. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! This place usually has a line outside but last night was CRAZY! Their atmosphere was really good, big place and people having fun! Sushi was what I would have expected, some sashimi cuts were as expected... but their online ordering system is AWESOME!! No longer waiting for them to answer the phone to get a person that can't hear you, it was a game changer, so you don't have to pay Grubhub fees! Might have to put this place in the rotation!

My go to sushi spot. This place NEVER disappoints. This review is so overdo. I have been here so many times I lost track of the exact number. I have been to the OG Amami in San Bruno by the Arco gas station a few times already prior this location opening. This location is bigger and has better hours. There were many tables of 4, booths, and they are able to accommodate a larger group of 10 if you make a reservation ahead of time. The staff was bustling but still very kind when we were being seat and when they were taking our order. The only downfall is the parking situation. The lot is very small, street parking in front is pretty limited, but if you park across the street or up a block towards Millbrae you should be okay. This last experience, I came with my friend on a Tuesday night. I told my friend we definitely had to make a reservation a few days ahead even if it was a weekday because this place gets PACKED. Good thing I did because when we arrived at 6:15pm for our reservation, the whole restaurant was seated. We had to wait 15 extra minutes to be seated, but it beats waiting an hour and a half like I have in the past because I failed to make a reservation. We ordered two orders of the Omakase ($42 each), rainbow roll ($15.50), and the Unagi Lover ($16.50). We were definitely stuffed but it was worth every single calorie, carb or whatever else you may be counting. Good thing we both saved our stomach and had a very light lunch. To start, the rolls. The Rainbow roll was a go to for the both of us. The freshness of the assorted fish on top just makes the roll so much better. We both love Eel so of course we went for the Unagi Lover. Topped with the butter taste of eel, it was a perfect appetizer before the Omakase arrived. The rolls came with wasabi and ginger. The wasabi provided was just the plain ones you can get at any store. It wasn't very potent at all. However, the wasabi that came with the Omakase was freshly grated and you can tell it was made just then because it was spicy and you could feel the heat in your nose when you take too much of it. The Omakase had a longer wait than the rolls, but that is always expected if you were to get this. We were able to enjoy each piece of Chef Alan's choices of Nigiri without feeling rushed. Each piece was fresh, pure deliciousness and hit the spot. Our favorite was the tuna that had an avocado piece on top (the one next to the wasabi). Overall, I love this place and I'm sure you would too! Pro tips- make a reservation regardless of the day. Be patient for the wait as they are working hard to serve everyone quickly and get there early to find parking. Enjoy the yumminess! :)

No wonder this place has raving reviews!! I should have stopped by way sooner. This place had great service and a wide dinner selections for you to choose from, fair price with great quality. We ordered the Sashimi Deluxe, and the sashimis were thickly sliced (loved it!). For rolls I recommend the Melted In the Mouth Roll (no raw fish, safe for children) and the lion king. They also have ramen, bento, bunch of appetizers to select. Most importantly, we appreciated everyone's friendly service upon arrival. Will be back soon!

Been here many times but hadn't have the time to give reviews. One reason was I thought I have done it years ago already lol.I just realized that looking at the pictures on my phone, I have not entered or written about this japanese bistro in San Bruno. The staff were great and pleasant as well as the service. My niece lives closeby so she and her husband regularly eats here. The price is reasonable and all their sashimis and omakase are always so fresh and superb. Highly recommend this.

Their omakase was very good. The rice was a little flavorless and sushi were falling apart a little. However, for that price, it was very good.Parking: They have a small parking lot, but it was full. However, it was very easy to find street parking.

If you drive too fast, you will miss Amami Sushi Bistro. It is a very small place in a parking lot where you will unlikely find a parking spot and will be stuck parking on El Camino Real or circling to a side street. Build in time for that. My favorite order at Amami Sushi Bistro is the omakase. The fish is fresh, and has a good fish to rice ratio. Presentation is colorful and shows the variety of fish offered. Also, their specialty rolls like the LA roll are creative and tasty. They do not skimp on the ingredients. For appetizers, I like their tempura (comes out steaming hot out of the fryer). There are a lot of choices and I have not tried their non sushi entrees like the combination dinners but hope to one day.Service is good, though you occasionally have to wave down someone but they are fine with that.
