Updated 8.13.22. Since they stopped serving outside the quality seemed to decline. Drinks were bad and tamales are not the same at all. Not sure what is wrong with their margaritas but they taste like soap. See other reviews. Feel bad that the fire shut them down for a bit. Hopefully they get a fresh re-start.Old review. Great food! Please keep the patio area after Covid. Update..5/25..Tent has expanded! Thank you. Also, try the beef tamales. Trust me...like home made. White, moist masa, never dry. Everyone there is always very happy and helpful.

It's okay. Always crowded, so others clearly like it... but all of the food is very bland - not much flavor.Ranch Market (in the back of the grocery store next door) is WAY better (and cheaper). There's no way this is the best Mexican option in San Clemente.

This past july 4th week we ate here again and brought the fam; just saw the devastating news-- this place is a gem and I hope they are able to re-build, thoughts out to this fantastic restaurant. See new pics. My dad is hard to please and really liked it. We all did, delicious. 5ys ago, We driving by and this place seemed cute. What a surprise. We got the best salsa and chips when were sat down. I wish I could get the recipe because my hubby liked it a lot. Then we ordered a small guacamole-- why :) it was so good ! Recommend the large. We had chiliquile plate and Spanish omelette. Both were good. One drawback, the doors were open. Service was friendly. We had the chocolate mole cake-- yum, it was served like a lava cake warm with ice cream, two churros and whipped cream.

I really enjoy La Siesta! Food is authentic Mex, very good, Nice lil bar, pleasent wait staff and usually good people surround. This is a popular place on weekend eves, so either go early or be patient during wait. Summer season adds to that. Limited parking when busy. Give it a try!

Never been here but just like Laurie P wrote beneath I'll pray this hard working family is soon blessed with a quick bounce back. Thank you for all of OCFA especially Noah P. for keeping all us safe

I'm giving five stars to say thank you for all of your years of offering great food to our town. They suffered a substantial fire early this morning and will surely be down for a long while. I hope all are safe and that this too will only be yet another hurdle to get over. My heart goes out to the family and friends who have kept La Siesta's legacy alive through all of these decades. Please know how much we care and that you have our support now and in your future.

This place was ok. I ordered two tacos; al pastor and carnitas along with a chicken mole enchilada. The chicken mole was really good. The tacos were meh. The corn tortillas should have been heated up prior to filling them up. The al pastor was extremely dry. Overall this place was ok. Not bad, not great. I liked the atmosphere and the staff was friendly and attentive.

La Siesta has been my family’s favorite Mexican restaurant since I was a kid. Their salsa is the absolute best in the world. All their food is fantastic. They have catered parties for us, both large and small, and always impress. I highly recommend La Siesta to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price.

Placed a party order for Father's Day. Couldn't have been more pleased with the service , the follow thru and the food. Received more food than we expected, packaged nicely for transport and so easy to set up and serve. Received lots of compliments which I didn't deserve since all I did was make a phone call to order. Thank you La Siesta for a seamless Father's Day and a delicious meal. Definitely will do again.

Came here for dinner last night and it was absolutely amazing! I ordered the carnitas, beef and chicken tacos a la cart. The carnitas was my favorite-- the flavors of the meat, the corn tortilla and toppings made each bite so juicy and so delicious! :) The atmosphere of the restaurant was really great, and felt intimate, even though the place was packed for Taco Tuesday. The bartenders, Lexi and the owner, provided fun, engaging conversation and helped ease some of the nervousness I was feeling while on a date! The beer is fresh and cold, the food is divine and the service is superb-- what more could you ask for?! 10/10 would recommend this place and will 100000% be coming back soon!

Our go to spot for local Mexican food. Great food, huge portions, and fun atmosphere.

What a great place. This was surprisingly authentic in it's vibe and the menu options to choose from. The whole staff was super friendly and attentive. I shared a shrimp burrito and thank goodness! It was about 3 times the "normal" size of a burrito and delicious. It came with a large portion of sour cream and guacamole. The only disappointment I have is that I was too full to eat any more of my meal. I was too stuffed from the wonderful chips and salsa they brought to the table prior. The good news is I'm so excited to have my leftovers as dinner tonight! Give this little gem a try, you won't be disappointed!

Not sure how it ranks with other Mexican restaurants in the area, but the food is average. Flavors are on the bland side, but the ingredients are fresh. Service is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is louder. Happy Hour might be something to check out.
